Earth Green Dryer Vent & Duct Cleaning

In summary, I there were huge communication failures on the part of the company, and a total lack of professionalism by the technician they sent. What follows is a follow-up email I sent to the company, which explains how it went. I have yet to get a response from them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I had an appointment on 8/17 at 1:00pm to have the dryer vent and our air ducts cleaned. Quote given on the phone was for $400. I am not happy with the level of service I received. The following outlines what happened on the day of service from my perspective. 1. On the day of the service, when nobody had shown up by 1:30pm, I called and you informed me you had been trying to reach me all morning, and upon further investigation you had written down the wrong phone number. You said you would call the technician and get back with me. 2. Shortly after that, the technician called. He mumbled something about you giving him the wrong information, and asked if I still wanted him to come. I said yes, and he said it would be about 45 minutes before he could get to my house and asked if that was okay. I said yes, and he mumbled something and hung up… no “good bye”. He didn’t sound happy. 3. The technician arrived and was very pleasant at the start. He asked where my furnace was, and I told him in the basement, and that my dryer was on the first level. I then said my husband would show him where everything was, which he did. 4. The technician proceeded to clean the dryer vent. When it was complete he came up and told us he was done, and started to hand me an invoice. I asked if he had done the air ducts. He got mad and raised he voice and said: “you wanted the air ducts done too?… why didn’t you tell me that when I arrived? … I asked you when I first arrived!” I tried to correct him that he had asked where the furnace was, not about if the air ducts were to be cleaned. He is now yelling at me that he had asked me, and I corrected him again. He then stormed out of my house yelling that what I said didn’t make sense. 5. I asked my husband to go out and tell him to forget about the air ducts… I didn’t appreciated his attitude. My husband went out and the technician was doing something on the passenger side of the van, but it was obvious he had no intention of doing the ducts. My husband told him to forget about the air ducts. He then handed my husband a blank invoice and said we needed to fill it out. There was nothing on the invoice… no date, no list of services performed, and no price. 6. I filled out my name and address then took it back out to the technician. He said I had to sign it. I told him he needed to fill in the services and the price before I would sign anything. He quickly added that info. I then wrote a check, signed the invoice and gave it to him. The technician then left. 7. My husband went outside to the dryer vent that the technician had cleaned out. The technician had not cleaned up the stuff that came out of the vent. My husband had to do that. As far as I know the dryer vent was cleaned adequately, and the technician did install the “bird cage” we had already purchased. That said, I am very unhappy with the overall level of service I received from your company, and the lack of professionalism on the part of the technician. There was obviously a failure in communications. You wrote down my phone number wrong, which is easy to do, and forgivable. However, it didn’t stop there. Again, from my perspective: • It appears the technician didn’t have a clue that he was supposed to do the air ducts as well as the dryer vent. Is that true, and if so why? • It was evident on the phone that the technician was angry before he even got here, due to “wrong information” being given. Understandable, but a professional wouldn’t let the customer hear that anger. • The way the technician conducted himself, raising his voice at me, blaming me for not telling him he needed to do the air ducts, and storming out of the house, is highly unprofessional and inexcusable. Needless to say, I will not be giving you a good review.
