We would never go back to them again. They came for the lawn service and we wanted some shrubbery work done. It took us three times to get in touch with them before anybody got in touch with us. Then the guy came and gave us an estimate. They charged $430 for a couple of treatments. They billed us after each treatment. They came once and that was for a bill & we never heard from them again. We were not even sure if they had come here. We suspected because they put one of little flag thing saying that the lawn had been treated by the lawn; so we thought that they came. We have used them way long time ago and they were great. They put the bill in the mail box and we paid. Then they came for the next treatment. It was great. We looked around this time and asked the kids if they got in their mail. There were no bills. We waited for two weeks and forgot about it. They came and gave us an estimate. We agreed to the estimate. They said that they would be here on such and such day. There was no sign of them until we called. They did everything through email. Then they said they would come the next day. We didn't even know if they treated the lawn or not because there was no sign of evidence. We sent another email saying that their service was terrible and they didn't even respond. We will tell others that they are nowhere close to how they were before. The price was comparable.

We have been using Barcellos and Kane for many, many years. They have always been professional, and for a long time, the same guys were doing the service, installation and problem solving. The office staff is generally very professional and great about getting the appointments scheduled. We had our system opened up as usual this spring. A new technician came to our house two times. Very nice and knowledgeable. Last week, we had a problem with a leaking head that ran and ran and couldn't be shut off. Our well ran out of water. Two new techs we had not had before came to try to figure out where the leak was. They stayed for quite awhile and went through everything to find the leak. They were successful, and got the system running again. I was so pleased that they had repaired the leak that I gave them a tip. The problem, and the reason for my negative review is unfortunately something not at all related to the performance of the repairs, but in the fact that a family member's wallet/money clip was stolen from the basement room where the RainBird box is on the day that they were there. It was left there on Wednesday night. Seen on the top of an amplifier where it had been placed on Thursday and gone on Saturday morning. The room has been thoroughly searched and the wallet is gone. The only people in the house at all between thursday and saturday besides my husband and I were the sprinkler guys. Without anyone actually seeing someone take it, we know there is nothing that can be done. It was in plain sight. A money clip with about $100 cash, license, and a few credit cards. It would have been tempting I guess, with the cash visible. I placed a call to the company on Monday this week to let the owner/manager know that we had this experience. It is an awful feeling to know that you let these folks into your house year after year with total trust that they will focus on their job and not be tempted to take your stuff. We have never had this happen in all the years we have had all sorts of work done in our home. I asked to speak with a manager, but the woman answering the call just said that she would "make a note of it" and tell the manager. So the cash is gone, but worse, the credit cards had to be cancelled and a replacement drivers license ordered. Again. We understand that without surveillance camera footage or an eye witness, we can't prove it. But there is no other way to explain the wallet being there one day and gone the next. No one else was in our home or in the basement. I waited a few days, expecting a call from the manager inquiring what had happened and expressing some kind of concern. I know that he has to trust his guys, but I felt it was important to report it in case it happened to another customer and a pattern could be established. Not a word from the manager/owner over several days, so finally today I called and let the woman in the office know that we would be leaving their service and finding another irrigation specialist. She seemed surprised, but not terribly concerned at all. She said she mentioned it to the manager and that was that. There is no way that I can have those guys return here, and no easy way to say that I'd have one certain guy, but please don't send the other guys. It would be awkward. All of this has been awkward. I guess I just expected some concern from the manager, even understanding that there wasn't much of anything that either of us could do about it after the fact. There was no effort to preserve our long standing relationship. I think that is what is bothering me most. Besides the creepy feeling that someone was here that I allowed in my basement unsupervised who took something not belonging to them. I'm pretty certain no effort was made by the manger to let the technicians know what had happened either. So we will say goodbye to Barcellos and Kane after many many years and search Angie's List for a new irrigation specialist whom we can trust. I know, there are no guarantees. I know that a company can never guarantee that their employees won't be tempted to steal. It happens all the time. But its what happens afterward that shows what a good company does to retain its customers.

Chris Kane reviewed the area, made his suggestions and had a crew here the following day. Day 1 was the removal of all the old lawn, bushes and shrubs. Day 2 was the installation of all the bushes, shrubs, mulch and lawn. The crew worked virtually non-stop and the entire job was complete by mid afternoon on day 2. I had an idea to do one thing...Chris Kane convinced me to do something a little different (and less expensive!) He was absolutely correct in his assessment. He absolutely knows his stuff. Excellent work, the front of my house looks 100% better. Would recommend Barcellos and Kane to anyone.
Description of Work: Removed the old lawn, dead bushes and shrubs. leveled area installed loom and new bushes and shrubs and hydroseeded the entire area. Chis Kane checked back frequently to make sure lawn was being watered and properly cared for. The new lawn and bushes look outstanding.

HE SEEMED LIKE HE DID NOT WANT THE JOB.
Description of Work: WE CALLED THEM AND THEY WERE NOT TOO FRIENDLY ON THE PHONE. THE EMPLOYEE WAS NOT FRIENDLY OR PROFESSIONAL. HE SHOWED UP WITHOUT CALLING, MY HUSBAND WAS HERE AND SAID HE WISHED THAT HE CALLED BEFORE COMING OVER. WE THEN CALLED THEM AND THEY NEVER RETURNED OUR CALL AFTER DISCUSSING THE JOB.
