TEDDY'S PAINT CO

They made a complete mess. The floors were left with paint. There was no clean up, period. Leather furniture had paint on them. They moved furniture, valuable oil paintings around carelessly. They seemed to be in a huge rush and they weren't taking care of anything. It was literally a disaster! Even the painting job itself was terrible! They didn't finish using primer, they didn't use the right color. It was awful. Even when we tried to contact them, they were relatively unresponsive. They wouldn't really respond to our requests to come back and fix their mess in our home. At this point, I don't even want them to come back and fix everything because of the terrible job they did the first time.

They show up as an army of workers. They scraped pretty well, but tried to only spot prime until I challenged them. They work fast but poorly. They painted the exterior of my house with rollers on extension poles. This is a really bad way to paint. They missed a great deal of spots especially the peak of the house. The paint job lasted about 2-3 years. My neighbor tried to get them to use a specific paint brand...they didn't. Instead, they took some money off of the price.

First, I just noticed that Teddy's Paint was added to Angie's List. I would have commented sooner if it had been a member. We had to hire other painters later to finish the job, and even at that, the areas that Teddy's company painted started cracking within two years. In other areas, black spots showed up behind the paint within a few months - so we had to hire someone else to strip and repaint... Note: I regret that we paid him 1/2 since we ended up paying another painter to repaint some areas and strip and then repaint others. I would caution anyone who uses this company to make sure you watch his team working from the start. Our contract promised he'd wash the house, sand clapboards that needed it or replace them. He did not do either thing and simply started painting within an hour of arriving - driving his workers hard to get it done quickly. My neighbor noticed this right away, and my husband was away at the time. I went out and asked him if he had cleaned or sanded, and he simply kept saying "no worries lady". This was an appalling experience, and even after asking him back several times to touch up areas that still showed the previous color - or remained bare - we still had to hire another painter later to add more coats of paint. My husband wrote a letter pointing out everything that had not been done - so we didn't pay him in full. Make sure you have a very clear contract if you use him. If you want a job done that will last more than a year or two, go to someone else. His workers are nice people. He doesn't give them time to do a good job.
