About us

Cygnet painting is a small restoration business, we work on houses, furniture and objects on sites and in our workshop. We refinish wood and other substrates –taking a preservation approach- cleaning and touching-up finishes on pieces of furniture; objects de art; architectural woodwork; floors, to retain the patina of time. The objective is to have surfaces appear old while being clean and polished. We restore plaster ceilings, walls, and moldings to make them solid and smooth but not too perfect. Other restoration techniques include pressure washing, sand blasting, and chemical stripping when necessary. Furniture, sculpture and artefacts are dismantled and reassembled in the Cygnet workshop: regluing joints, filling voids, and finishing the surfaces with various materials. Decorative painting services include, but are not limited to, stenciling, faux finishes; organic and architectural trompe-l’oeil; and murals painted in a 17th century Dutch technique. You can have a sky on your ceiling, a concrete floor made to look like fine stone, or a scene on your walls. Please www.CygnetPainting.com for examples. Being a third generation painter, Lars has over 80 years of family craft heritage to refer to. We are not above rolling paint on walls and brushing trim however.

Not only was his professional ethic and talent exceptional, he was a delightful and wholly unobtrusive person to have in our home for what was 11 days of work. The finished house is magazine quality. Not a flaw, or a drop of stray paint on anything...anywhere. In addition his price was about 1/3 less than people who were referred to us. Painters have been, until Lars, a challenge to have in my home. I am pleased beyond my wildest imagination with the work that Lars has done for us. Honest, hard working, and incredibly cordial. He was referred to us by the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, where he did an breathtaking job of painting a beautiful old building. Simply put...you cannot find anyone with this kind of talent outside of Boston proper...and never at such a reasonable price.
