When I called Paul he was recuperating and was very helpful to refer me to someone else. I would recommend him and use him in the future, he was very responsive to my needs and made sure to give me a referral and offering to get other referrals if that one didn't work out. Thank you!

I decided to update some light switches to new dimmers and countdown timers for vents. I decided to go with Paul due to his reviews and prompt response. Paul was on time, efficient and provided much needed advice with house maintenance. I do look forward to working with him again.

Description of Work: I telephoned Paul to ask for an estimate to clean gutters in our condo complex. He came at the time and date he said he would. He was very polite and professional and sent the estimate in a timely manner.. Ultimately, another member of our Board of Trustees had a friend who had done some work for him at his previous residence and pushed to have the board hire that friend. Nevertheless, I would certainly consider Paul for other work as needed.

Description of Work: I cannot recommend Paul highly enough. He is an experienced, hardworking professional who takes great care of his customers and great pride in his work. When Paul gives you a quote, it will be thorough and the work will be done perfectly and professionally. A welcome change from the usual run around I've gotten from other contractors. |I contacted Paul at the height of the winter storms to give me a quote on damage to my deck which looked to be potentially endangering the hot tub below it. I called Paul at 9AM, he was at my house before Noon and I had a professional quote for my insurance company by 7PM and assurance that the deck would not fall on my hot tub. Most contractors weren't even returning calls at this point so I was beyond thrilled. Paul successfully followed up with my insurance company to ensure the claim was processed quickly and the work done promptly and professionally. |I had already gotten an estimate from my insurance company's adjuster for other storm related interior repairs. I had Paul take a look at this as well. He prepared a detailed estimate which included work & costs the adjuster had missed which I then submitted to my insurance company. My insurer is known for being very difficult and nit-picky to work with but Paul navigated the process quickly and successfully even fielding weekend calls from adjusters and agents. He was able to secure the proper funds from the insurance company to get the job done right. |The full job has been completed and we could not be more pleased with the results. The workmanship is top-notch. Paul is a professional and perfectionist from start to finish. His work ethic and the pride he takes in doing the job right was evident throughout the whole process. I will definitely use Paul again and have already asked him to quote for additional non-storm related work to the exterior of my home. I would highly recommend Paul without hesitation to everyone. Without a doubt the best contractor I have had. |

Paul was great! He was very professional and knowledgable about the best approach for installing these doors. Our house is tricky since nothing lines up as it would in a new house (which he encountered during the installation). When the doors i originally chose were unavailable, he custom made and painted them himself. During the installation, he was punctual and very quiet as well as cleaned up everybday. The barn doors came out fantastic and are the envy of all who see them! We are very happy with his work and will definitely use him again!

Paul had come to our house to provide an estimate on some work we needed done which was unrelated to this service. Knowing we were interested in remodeling our master bath in the future, I showed him the current state of the room and he immediately identified that there was black mold under a loose tile near the tub. Paul indicated that he could take care of the mold problem for us and if the mold didn't extend beneath the tub, we could still put the complete remodel off indefinitely. Paul provided us with all of our options which was really helpful in re-prioritizing the work schedule. Following this appointment, on that very afternoon, Paul came through on some promised links to products which we had talked about during initial meeting. His follow-through and professional manner through-out impressed us so much that we had absolutely no reservations about requesting his services regarding this project. We contacted Paul regarding his schedule and he suspected that he would have time the following week, but we were expecting one of our big blizzards that weekend and, understandably, much depended on the impact from the storm. Despite having to address emergency requests regarding ice dams, etc., Paul was able to schedule us in for the following Wednesday. He had to email us prior to Wednesday, however, as he was laid low by the flu and assured us that he would contact us when he was back on his feet. As promised, Paul emailed us that weekend and we were able to schedule for the following Wednesday -- despite additional snow. Paul showed up early but respectfully waited outside in his truck until the agreed upon time. He was able to complete the project in approximately 4 hours which included removing tile, cutting out 3 layers of damaged subflooring, treating the mold, making a trip to the lumber yard for plywood, rebuilding the floor and reinstalling our original tile which he was able to salvage, and re-grouting around new tile. He was clean, respectful, knowledgeable about the process and more than fair in his pricing. (Paul did not charge us for the additional plywood.) He also took the initiative to address a problem that we were having with the bathroom door sticking which my husband had spoken to him about during a prior phone conversation and we were delighted to see that the door swung freely when we went to inspect his work. We couldn't be happier with Paul and his work and we plan to contact him in the near future to begin addressing some of the other projects which we talked about.

A let down. Paul had done extensive work for us in the past. When we moved to new home, we had him do a few projects. We had originally planned to have him do lighting work as well as installation of a bathroom exhaust fan. He arrived the day we planned to have interior work done and was upset that roofers were working on the house. He was to be working inside and they, of course were outside. He did part of the job, then informed us that the roofers "were in his way." He basically left without saying he was not coming back. We were lectured that we should have told him that they were going to be at the house at the same time as he. The house has a driveway and on street parking, as well as 4 separate entrances. It would be quite possible for both work crews to be working on the house at the same time without being in each other's way. There was plenty of room for them to park their trucks. Ironically, Paul had told us a story about working on a very large home where there were several work crews present at the same time. Apparently, in that instance it was ok. We were told that we were not respectful of his time. He did not follow up and basically never contacted us about the other projects discussed. Conservatively, over the last several years, we had given Paul at least $10,000 in business, so we were under the impression that we were valued customers. Apparently, this is not the case.

Response from Paul's Handyman Services LLC
This review is completely false and a total misrepresentation of the facts. The work in question was for a total of $886.13 (not 1500) and involved installing some wireless sconces. The work was completed August 22, 2014 and payment due upon completion. The customer was very happy with the installation but asked that he be invoiced and asked me return to do some additional work for him in his bathroom. I Invoiced as requested via email on 8/23. As many times in the past, the customer did not pay the invoice on time. After several weeks I emailed him asking for payment. He got angry with me because I had not received his check which he claimed to have sent. After several email exchanges I finally received a check more than 30 days overdue. I returned on the date and time the customer requested to start the next project, I could not park near the home due to multiple contractors trucks including a roofing company, blocking the driveway and entire frontage of the home. I was never informed that there might be an issue being able to work there that day. I had to park about a block from the home which made working there very difficult and expensive. I offered to return the following day but was told, " if I left, don't bother coming back" As a result I lost 2 days of scheduled work. I again offered via email to set up another date but he never responded. Oddly enough he and his husband have recommended me to their neighbors and written previous reviews on this site praising my services. See his "A" rating review dated July 28, 2014 of my work completed on July 16, 2014. "Paul is always professional and quotes are very close to the actual cost of the project. While he may be a bit more expensive than the rest, the work is better and is overall very high quality. We will continue to use him for handyman projects in the future" Why this negative review comes 6 months after this incident can only be explained as a vindictive attempt to smear my reputation. I can only surmise that he is upset with himself for chasing away, as he has described me, " the best contractor he's ever dealt with". I've always gone well beyond the scope of work for this customer and provided my best effort even making many visits to his home at no charge to him. My account above is well documented and I am happy to provide any and all if it to anyone interested.

The first project Paul worked on was replacing the rotted wood under a bay window and replacing porch railings. Both projects turned out to be bigger than expected and required some creative approaches. Due to the unknowns he worked for time and materials. The end product turned out great and it was very reasonable. Since then he's fixed my roof, not an easy job with the steep pitch, remounted the dishwasher, patched a brick wall including anchoring electrical outlets. No job seems too big or too small. He's great to work with, always shows up when he says he will and cleans everything up. I'm working on a new list of projects for him to do over the next few months as I get my house ready to sell. I highly recommend hiring Paul.

Our experience with Paul was good right from the start. He showed up on time to give us an estimate and had a quote to us quickly. Paul's estimate was a little more than some other quotes we received but he seemed knowledgable and I do believe that you get what you pay for. The quality of the work he did looks excellent. There were some possible snags but Paul and his assistant were able to work around them (possibly having to move a concrete step which would have been costly) and get the job done. Paul actually came in under price because he was able to complete some of the work without needing a piece of equipment we previously thought he would need. Also, he was very professional and cleaned up the work site when he was finished. We are very satisfied with Paul's work. Not only do we plan to use him again, we've already asked him to take a look at some other work for us.

He seemed like a solid contractor and someone I was looking forward to working with. He said he'd get me a quote within a couple of days after he had his roofer come out to look at my roof. After a few traded emails, Paul pulled out of the job completely with no explanation. He was cordial, but it left me frustrated that he wasted my time when I could have had others out to get the quote. ** Update after seeing response ** - Not sure what bad mouthing is being referenced here. I simply told Paul that I had another roofing contractor try to fix my exterior roof and they made it worse. When I explained the situation to him he seemed to agree their approach was off. If we are quoting emails, it should be done accurately like the example below that came days after not getting a response from him: "Sorry I haven't responded, I've been speaking with my roofing expert and it looks like I'm not going to be able to help you out. Sounds like you're all over it and have plenty of contractors looking at it. Good Luck I hope we didn't hold you up." I replied to this email asking if he was out for the whole job or just the roof and received no reply at all. He seems like a good guy and has every right to choose which jobs to take. I was surprised by the way it was handled myself though. I liked him a lot from the initial meeting and was taken off guard by the sudden change of heart and lack of reasoning communicated.

Response from Paul's Handyman Services LLC
After meeting with the customer on the 13th and listened to him bad mouth previous contractors who tried to help him, also seeing structural issues with the home, I spoke with my roof crew I decided it was best not to do this work. I notified the customer on the 18th that we could not help him. At one point he emailed back to me "No problem. I've had a number of roofers come by and am waiting on quotes to compare." I don't feel we held him up at all. As a business owner I feel I have the right to accept or decline projects based on what I see when I arrive at the job site and speak with the customer. Things I see that make me reconsider a project can be unrealistic customer's expectations, unrealistic budget, customer involvement in the actual work, possible legal issues with local building officials or fraudulent insurance claims. If I don't feel that I can do the job properly, the customer is going to be unhappy when I'm finished or I invite possible legal issues, then I will not put myself and my company in a bad situation.

He responded to my emails and estimate appointment pretty much right away. Seemed professional and knowledgeable but didn't give much guidance or input during estimate. [member name removed], I'm sorry you feel this way. However I think you're mistaken or have me confused with another contractor. I have 13 emails to and from you regarding your project. The last email I received from you was on 5/28/2014, in which you said that everything looked excellent and that you were waiting on one other estimate and would make a decision soon... I never heard back from you, so I assumed you went with the other contractor. Obviously there was a break down in communication. If it were my fault I apologize, I would of been happy to work on your project. I did put a lot of time and effort into your estimate and follow up questions at no cost to you. I do wish you would have contacted me before writing such a review. Paul Lecesse

Paul and his team performed 3 major renovation efforts for me |1. Repaired and rebuilt a significant section of an exterior wall that had suffered major water damage from a long-ago improperly constructed Juliet balcony. Work included structural work and new windows and siding. |2. Rerouted a forced hot air vent from an unused basement room to a second floor room that was not previously receiving heat |3. Insulated, drywalled, and primed (for painting) two first floor rooms. |Paul and his team repeatedly met the challenges caused by haphazard original construction and in the end left me with a better, safer house than I had before their work. I would definitely use his services again.

We had water damage and cold air coming into the house. My husband attempted to repair the damage but found extensive rot to siding and framing. We got three estimates but felt Paul provided the most detailed estimate and very a reasonable pricing. He also helped with ordering the correct door. Paul showed up ontime, removed all the door, damaged lumber and siding. He made the necessary repairs, reframed and installed the new door. He also replace all the trim both inside and out. He took all the old material away and cleaned up, you wouldn't know he was ever there. The new door is beautiful and much warmer.
