Description of Work: While the Windy Hill people do a fine job of planting their material, what makes them stand out are two things: Most important, their plant material is outstanding in the sense that it is grown by esteemed suppliers and in climates similar to the Windy Hill one. Thus, their plants usually do well. They also choose from among the most highly regarded species and cultivars. The other point to make is that the folks who work there generally go out of their way to be helpful. My conclusion: At Windy Hill, you pay a lot and you get a lot.

+ -1 more. The people in the garden area we talked with were informative and friendly, so we initally felt good about our purchase. We brought the shrubs home, planted them and nursed them as we look forward to their growing into a part of our landscaping. (We have transplanted many plants and have never had one die, so we know what we are doing). One shrub while not vigorous is alive and growing, but the other one died fairly quickly. We went back to Windy Hill with our receipt and photos of the two plants. They told us there is no guarentee on their products unless they plant them. They would not even offer a partial credit toward a replacement. We were disappointed with the attitude because we had hoped to buy more plants from their beautiful selection, but if they do not stand behind what they sell, it can turn into expensive mistakes.
