The tornado that passed through western Massachusetts on June 1 only grazed our neighborhood, but it was enough to knock down a number of trees, including a large maple on the south edge of our property. Fortunately the tree broke right over our fence without damaging it, but removing the tree without harming the fence did not look like it was going to be easy. I called a number of tree services, who were understandably all very busy dealing with the aftermath of the tornado. Tim Phair of Liberty Hill Tree Care returned my call within a day (with apologies for not calling sooner) and came out that evening to give us an estimate. He's a very smart, friendly guy who obviously knows his business thoroughly and who's enjoyable to talk to. We've also wanted for quite a while to have a number of overhanging branches removed from the oak trees along the back edge of our property, so we asked him to include that in the job. He gave us a prompt estimate that we found reasonable, and we ultimately chose him to do the work. They came on the appointed day and did everything very efficiently, cleaning up thoroughly afterward. Tim actually ended up knocking $50 off the price because the job went so well. We were very pleased with the results and will certainly turn to them again when we need further tree work done.
Description of Work: Removal of felled maple tree, trimming of dead and overhanging branches from oak trees.

This is the second time I have used them. Their prices have consistently been quite reasonable; this time, they were the lowest bid of my chosen companies. They completed the job within 1 week of my call. They had told me they would arrive early, and did so (7 am-ish). Both men were friendly and clearly at ease with the complicated task of maneuvering around the wires. They removed the tree in 2 hours, leaving a very clean, low stump in its place. Their clean up was not perfect, but quite good. A separate person came later to grind a different stump (I was not home to see this). The person did an excellent job making a neat hole 6" deep with great clean-up. My only concern about quality in this project was that I wish the person who had ground the stump had gone wider, as there r still some 2" diameter roots on the sides of the hole.
Description of Work: Had white birch that was surrounded by wires removed, wood taken and a separate stump ground (with chips removed).
