High quality and attention to detail. Very professional. Estimate of when he could get the work done was accurate. Cost was very reasonable and much less expensive than another bid I obtained. Worth the 15 mile or so ride from my house. He picked up and returned the chairs for an extra reasonable fee. Very pleased with this experience. Found him on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Reupholstered 8 chairs.

Description of Work: Two chairs were reupholstered. The experience was very positive; the owner of the business is friendly, responsive and easy to communicate with. The work is beautiful-truly professional. Because this is a small business, and the quality of the workmanship so high, there is a wait time. I was on a wait list for several months, but the owner was clear about the timing and contacted me when he was ready for my chairs. In my opinion, the wait was worth it and I am again on his list to do another chair. |I feel that the prices were reasonable and reflect the quality of the workmanship and experience. My two matching danish modern teak chairs, purchased on Ebay, are now like new and very comfortable. Beautiful work!

Granby Upholstery came highly recommended to me by various coworkers. I was told that the high quality workmanship came at a price but if I had the patience to wait until the work could be done, I wouldn't be sorry. How right everyone was! Some of my acquaintances thought that reupholstering a sofa from the 1980's might be cost prohibitive but I thought we had a solid piece of furniture in our possession which admittedly needed to have new cushions and springs. I wanted to see what an upholsterer thought about our plan. When the owner confirmed that the sofa was indeed worth having reupholstered but not the worn-out matching recliner, I knew I was dealing with a professional who would be an honest businessman. Our second order of business was to ask about reupholstering a "family heirloom" pipe back chair which had sentimental value to us. Once again, the owner clearly stated that the style of chair would require a lot of attention to detail and would therefore be a bit more expensive to reupholster than a more simple style of chair but with that caveat, he thought the piece was solid and was willing to do the work. We were given the option of selecting material from sample books available at Granby Upholstery or buying fabric elsewhere (we did select material from one of Granby's offerings). As predicted by my coworkers who had recommended Granby Upholstery to us, we had to wait two months before receiving the call that the company was ready to pick up the two pieces. We were advised that the work would take approximately two weeks, which it actually did. I cannot say enough good things about the end result. The high quality of workmanship was definitely worth all the wait and the expense.
Description of Work: We wanted to have both an Ethan Allen sofa (purchased back in the '80's) and another "family heirloom" pipe back chair reupholstered.
