The finished product is pretty good - not as I expected, but looks ok. The issues I had were with the vendor himself (owner of the shop). He is very disorganized (missed appointments, lost paperwork, etc.) and does not listen very well. I found myself during several conversations having to repeat myself because he was often on a different subject. They arrived on schedule, but did not prep my house at all - they were going to have to grind some bricks and stone so there was a fine dust covering every inch of my home. The clean up they did was minimal, at best. I also had an issue regarding a process called "enhancing" which seals the stone work and gives it a richer appearance. When I asked if they were going to do the entire fireplace, I was told they didn't have enough product and that they would have to come back later in the week to complete the job. I agreed and said that I would not be able to pay them until the job was completed (as agreed). That's when the owner became very upset, raising his voice to me and generally agitated and accusing me of not paying him. I ended up telling him to leave it unfinished and that I would do that process myself since I wanted him at that point to leave my home. Lastly, when I questioned the work itself (you could see where the stonework started and ended in several places) since I thought it was supposed to be seamless, instead of explaining that this was the best look possible in this circumstance, he again became very agitated and said he "hated when clients changed their mind during a job". When the job was done (without the enhancing), I paid for the job in full, then proceeded to spend the next 2 days trying to clean my house. Bottom line is that while it wasn't a disaster, the experience was so unpleasant that I would not be comfortable recommending this vendor to anyone.
