Emergency Services Offered
Services we offer
Fuel Delivery (oil, propane, diesel) & equipment installation. Propane tank installation, underground propane gas lines. Generator Installation, direct vent gas equipment, boilers and furnaces.
We inherited AmeriGas for our propane tank at our new home and simply could not get propane delivered. They gave us a 10 day window and we’re already a week past that. We’ve been out of propane this entire time. Our son recommended Scott Energy because he’s been so happy with them. I was not optimistic about getting a new tank and company between Christmas and New Years but incredibly, I called yesterday morning and spoke to Kevin Kelleher, then Adam Scott visited us in the afternoon and within an amazingly short amount of time, we have a new tank and fuel. I’m completely blown away. This is how you run a company. Thank you Scott Energy and your amazing team!!! We’re so grateful to you all!

In early autumn of this year, my oil-fired boiler gave out and a puddle of water appeared in front of it. Now, I know nothing about plumbing, but a friend of mine is a plumber and stopped by to take a look."You've got a crack in the bottom of your boiler, man" he told me. "You're gonna need a new system." But I had a maintenance agreement with Scott Energy (over $200/year) so I called 'em to see what they could do. A repairman arrived and I told him what my friend had said. But he conducted his own examination and said: Good news! Your friend was wrong! He made some "repairs" and I received a bill for $430.oo. It seemed high to me, but I was happy to pay it if it meant I didn't have to buy a new system. But the next time I turned on my newly "fixed" boiler KA-POW! Downstairs I ran and found a puddle of water identical to the one that had led me to call Scott in the first place. So I called my plumber friend again and he came back and found the crack in my boiler that Scott Energy told me I didn't have -- you could see it!!. I showed my friend the $430.oo bill and he hit the ceiling. He said he knew one of the owners at Scott and put in a call to the guy because, surely, he would want to know about this and refund my money and apologize. But he never returned my friend's call, nor did he return the several messages I left him. After a few days later, though, I received a call from someone else at Scott Energy. I told him my story, but instead of apologising he explained that, while I was entitled to a refund for the incompetent labor ($130), it was my tough luck that I'd taken delivery on $300 worth of parts. Of course I immediately told him the parts were like new and he was welcome to come to my house and retrieve them. But he demurred. I would need some of those parts for my new system, he explained. Why should he take them back? Wasn't I on the premises when the "repair" work was done? Wasn't I there when the parts were delivered? I pointed out that the reason I called Scott Energy in the first place was that I know nothing about plumbing. I had not asked for a single one of those parts, but had relied on their expert technician to tell me what I needed. Around and around we went, and I began to get angry. I was instructed to "calm down" and was accused of being "excitable". I pointed out that Scott Energy had $430 of my money and if he would just come and get his parts and pay me back, I would not only calm down but never, ever bother Scott Energy again. At last he relented. It was a long and stressful phone call, but a couple of hours later my phone lit up. It was Scott Energy! At last, I figured, they were calling to apologize But, no. They were calling to convince me to purchase my new system from good old Scott Energy! Their salesman explained that they could give me a fine deal and -- lucky me! -- they could service it, too! I declined as politely as I could. This company has nothing to recommend it. Their fuel prices are not particularly cheap, their repair people are unreliable and once Scott Energy gets ahold of your money, look out! They won't be giving it back without a fight.
Description of Work: They just needed to tell me whether or not I needed a new boiler. That's all.

They are a little more expensive then others in the area but they provide great service and a quality product. My wife and I decided that was more important than price in this situation.

They're friendly. We've been customers of theirs since 1976. It's A all the way. They offer good service and they have great people. They're there when you need them. They have a warranty plan. We have oil tank protection plan that we purchased.
Description of Work: Scott Energy put in our air conditioner. They subcontracted with somebody to put our air conditioning in because we have hot air heat so we've already got the duct work. They also provide heating oil in the winter.

Description of Work: I bought a new house in Rockport, moving from another town. Scott had installed and maintained the furnace in my home for the last 12 years. A very nice, professional individual came to my door welcoming me and giving me information about Scott; I was very impressed. However, when I ready to investigate a new service provider, the salesman that answered the phone was nothing short of infuriating. I asked him how much they charge several times, and then I asked several more times, "if I called tomorrow, what would your price per gallon be?" He replied each time that he couldn't predict the future to which I confirmed, "so you really are not going to quote me a price?" He gave the same answer for the 7th time. Frustrated I hung up and went with Walsh Oil in Gloucester. I will never use Scott Oil.

I recently became aware of a program through my teacher's union that offers significant home heating oil savings and includes annual maintenance as well as tank protection. I cancelled my annual tune up with Scott Energy, as well as cancelling automatic oil delivery. Upon the new company's inspection of my tank, they refused to fill it because it was weeping. I immediately called Scott Energy because their tank protection plans run from spring to spring, so mine was not due to expire until May. I was told that my paperwork was on her desk, as she was getting ready to close my account. Although she had not yet closed it she said that because I had 'cancelled my account my tank protection was null and void.' I asked to speak with someone else, as I was not satisfied with that, since it isn't what the contract states. The language on the tank replacement plan is and quot;Scott Energy agrees to the following in the event that your oil storage tank should leak during the next twelve months.and quot; It also states that and quot;purchase of oil from another company voids this tank replacement plan.and quot; Bill Scott, who I assume is the owner, although he didn't identify himself as such returned my call. I shared the wording on my tank protection contract. I also explained again that I had not in fact ever 'cancelled my account' I canceled automatic delivery and did not renew the annual maintenance plan. I asked if he would come and look at the tank, or if he would work with me somehow. He simply kept repeating that I had 'cancelled my account.' I filed a complaint with the BBB, but Scott refused to respond to it. I think their company made it impossible for me to receive oil from another company, as they had not properly maintained my tank. Then, they refused to honor the contract I had paid them for and into which we had both entered. I hope that this review is helpful to all who read it. As consumers this is all we can do, when companies refuse to resolve problems with their customers.
Description of Work: I have used Scott Oil (now called Scott Energy) for oil delivery and maintenance of my heating system since July 2007. They cost a bit more than other area companies, but offered tank protection. My tank was very old, so that was worth the additional oil cost. My boiler was maintained annually for about $275. As a new home owner and oil consumer I stayed in the basement to ask questions in an effort to better understand my equipment. I never saw anyone go near the oil tank itself, to inspect it, change its filter, etc. I also asked them to help figure out how to even out the water temperature, on my tankless hot water system. Although they were very responsive and quick to come to the house, their estimates to actually do the work were considerably higher than the other two heating specialists I asked. Every time my boiler was serviced the technicians gave me conflicting information about how often to flush and to add water to the system. When the service guy came out to resolve the hot water issue, he also said something different about the frequency of those things. In retrospect , that should have been reason enough to switch to another company, but I needed tank protection and was not able to find it elsewhere.
