In order for us to complete the sale of our home, we needed to have it cleaned and broom swept. Many possessions were ruined due to the ice storm we had a few years ago so there were many items in the basement that had to go. Looking at the Gardner News I stumbled upon an ad -- Scott at 978-400-1038. I told him of our dilemma and he agreed to meet me at my Pearl Street home to look at what needed to be disposed of. After examining, he told me that it would cost $150 for the first load and $125 for every load thereafter. He told me that it would take two loads for the outside and two for the inside. He asked me to pay him cash immediately for the first load and he would take the money and I would return to work. This was on Tuesday, July 26.On my way home from work, my husband and I stopped by the house. Scott hardly took anything! I took Thursday 7/28 off from work so that me, my sister-in-law, my son and daughter can help me sort and remove the items that I wanted....this was also the day Scott was to return to 'finish' the job. We removed 2 cargo vans full of items. Scott showed up at 2:00 and took a few big items (couch, freezer, file cabinets). He asked us to bag as much stuff as possible to make it easier for him and his two sons to load the truck. He came back and 'loaded' the truck a second time, asked for payment for the two loads and left indicating that he would be back on Friday. Again...he hardly made a dent....we came to realize that no one was overseeing his 'loading' the truck as it only took him 15 minutes for the 2nd load.My husband called him that night and told him that this is getting pretty costly. Scott told him that he will be finishing up on Friday. It would take 2 more loads and if there is more stuff left over he would take it for free. On Friday, Scott called me at work and very rudely asked if anyone was going to pay him for the load on his truck. I sent my husband who happened to finish work early. Scott was surprised to see my husband there. Upon my husband's arrival, Scott's sons (ages 17 and 12) continued loading the truck for 45 more minutes. My husband paid him and Scott said he would be back on Saturday. On Saturday, Scott wanted his payment for the first load up front...and said he would return for the last (free) load. My husband told him that he would pay him when he finished loading the free load. Scott said 'OK'...got in his truck and left. When we called him to ask where he was going, he told us that he gets paid by the load and hung up on us....SEVERAL times!
