AJ'S Chimney Sweep

After being blown off by another Chimney contractor for 2 months I decided to contact one through Angie's List. AJ's was close to my home so I gave them a call, had to leave a message but that's understandable during the day. After one week I had not received a call back so I decided to call again. This time AJ answered, I told him that I needed a new chimney cap for my garage. He then said he'd come out that same day around 2pm, he actually called me back around 10am and said he was close by on another job and could come earlier. I said that was great and he came over about 30 minutes later. He looked at the job and gave me a verbal quote of $200. I was happy with the quote and AJ said he'd come out in the next week or two to do the job. I told him that was perfect and to give me a day or two notice. After a month he hadn't called or shown up so I called him, left a message and never received a returned call. Another few weeks went by so I decided to call again and AJ answered. I explained that I wasn't ina huge hurry but needed to be done before it's too cold to mix concrete, he agreed and then said I should call a Mason. He said he was too busy now with chimney cleanings and would be best to call a mason, but he didn't know of any in the area. I told him I was kinda upset because I had been waiting for him to do the job for at least 2 months and winter is coming. Also told him that he was the second chimney contractor to commit and then do the job and that I wasted all summer with these 2 contractors. He did say he was sorry. I'm not sure why contractors look at small jobs and then never show to to do the work, I have 3 chimneys in total and 2 need cleaning, I was going to have him do them after the chimney cap was replaced. So now he lost an annual cleaning from a potential customer for years.

I found this company through the Certified Chimney Sweep Association. The repairman came out and replaced the fire box flue and reinstalled it. He also installed a chimney cage. The price was reasonable for the work completed. He did an excellent job and will be back in the spring to do more repair on the chimney.

AJ arrived early and was ready to go. He was courteous, answered all my questions and performed the chimney sweep cleanly. He also did a level 1 inspection of my fireplace. He is CSIA certified, a member of the National Chimney Sweep Guild and also is a firefighter.
