They did not clean the chimneys as they determined it was not necessary. Good guys, fun to have do the inspection.

We were disappointed with the service received for $179. They spent very little time and only cleaned one of our two active flues (the oil one). They did not get up on the roof and inspect the chimney or chimney cap. We also needed information on brickwork/masonry and they said they don't really do that and could not help. They basically told us that we should not use the fireplace until we replace the whole woodburning flue (and that we also needed to replace the oil flue too.) They quoted us almost $5k to do these things. We ended up getting a second company to come out, who cleaned our other flue for only $79 and gave us a quote for the same work for literally half the price. Horizon seems to get good reviews from others, but we felt like they were either taking advantage of new homeowners or maybe we just didn't get a great representative.

I just moved up from Florida into my childhood home. I knew the fireplaces were original (1957) and probably had not had any work done on them for years. Hearing all kinds of stories about fireplace fires in the home I knew I had better get them checked out as I knew we would definitely use them. I called co. and Brad came out and checked them out. The upstairs fireplace was okay to use but the fireplace downstairs needed work. Brad suggested a wood or pellet stove as it would throw out more heat than the original setup. I decided to go with a wood stove after speaking with Derek. He quoted me a price for the whole job. He explained to me that he would have to order the stove and it would take about a month to come in. I gave him a deposit and he scheduled the work for a month later. He was true to his word. They called me the day before to let me know they would be at my house the next day. Both Derek and Brad came out and they went to work setting everything up. Completed the job in one day! Everything was cleaned up afterwards. They were great! The stove and new cap on chimney looks great! I have already scheduled for my fireplace cleaning in June 2014. I definitely recommend them!

Arrived on time, right to work and stayed all day. There was damage that revealed itself after they started fixing what they intended to and they fixed all without raising the price. Great guys who know their business. My chimneys look great - I highly recommend Horizon!

The gentleman that came out was very professional. He did a thorough inspection of our two chimneys and kept us informed energy step of the way. He was extremely knowledgeable and was very good at relaying this knowledge to us. He worked quickly and efficiently as well. We will definitely be using the services annually for all of our chimney maintenance needs.

Great. Devrick came in at an appointed time. Assess the problem, took pictures and provided a cost for repair. We agreed and he return at a schedule time (we were not present) and made the repairs.

From the first phone contact with Horizon I was impressed with the friendliness, openness and clear information they provided. Having purchased a house with an existing (old) wood-burning stove set in the fireplace I wanted to make sure the stove was usable and the chimney was in good shape before using it. I got a reminder call the day before the appointment from Horizon. Paul called me from his previous appointment to let me know he'd be running about 10 minutes late. He showed up and was pleasant, courteous, professional and very informative and knowledgeable. He did a full inspection, walked me through the ins and outs of the stove/fireplace/chimney and provided me with a detailed account of what I have and what needs work. He made helpful suggestions, spoke highly of his boss and company (clear company pride) and did not pressure me into purchasing high end equipment or services from his company. He was awesome!

This was the most professional, pleasant, informative work I have ever had done. Paul obviously knew what he was doing and explained everything to me. He was on time and got the work done as promised and it was very hot. Seeing before and after pictures on his IPhone was very helpful and important to the job. Prompt, professional, pleasant and informative. I would have them back and recommend them to friends and family. Derek and his wife were also very professional, helpful and prompt. The main reason we had the inspection was because we are new homeowners and we weren't exactly sure what condition the chimney was in. The home inspection was a good place to start and we knew we were looking at a little bit of work. The gentleman who came out (I forget his name) was friendly and honest. The total estimate for the work was nearly 3k, but we only had him clean the fireplace. We're planning on have the rest of work done in the future.

It went very well. Horizon sent out Brad to give me an estimate for the work needed. I found the price quoted as reasonable and told him to schedule the job. He asked if I would be interested in an earlier appt if there was a cancellation. A couple of weeks later they had a cancellation and asked if I wanted to move up the repair. I said yes. They scheduled it for the next day. Brad came out right on time and got to work right away. He did a great job and cleaned up all the debris. Brad was easy to talk to and very courteous. I was very satisfied with Brad and the job.

Horizon arrived on time and was wonderful to deal with. The guys were thorough and very clean for what is normally considered a messy job. I would highly recommend them to others and use them again myself.

On time, clean, professional, explained work to be done. I thought that the price to repoint a fire brick was high.

I used to be the client of another company, which dissolved, so I had to pick a new provider (Horizon Chimney) from Angie's list. Punctual and professional both times I used them. My chimney cap held up very well (some of my neighbors caps were blown off during the Sandy storm). I have an yearly maintenance with them as well and will see them again at the end of this summer.

Very prompt and courteous upon call. Worked on the weekend to get the job done as quickly as possible so we could use our fire place. Provided excellent explanation and back up visuals of work required. Would recommend and use again.

I left a message for Horizon Chimney Services over the weekend, which can be a difficult time to reach home and chimney inspectors, but it was necessary given a short amount of time to perform inspections on a house for which an offer to purchase had been made. Derek called me back within a short time, and was able to schedule the inspection for the next day, even though the inspection would be about 40 miles from his office. He contacted me on the day of the inspection to let me know they could arrive early, and we agreed on an earlier start time. He and his assistant arrived on time, and they were ready to get to work. They were professional, friendly, efficient, and willing to answer all of my questions. The cleaning and inspection of both flues were conducted in just over an hour, and they provided a detailed write-up of their findings. I would definitely recommend Derek and his team for any chimney work that needs to be done. They were a pleasure to work with.

Horizon Chimney Services was very responsive, punctual and professional. They called me within 24 hours after receiving my email, quoted a price and scheduled service the same week to accommodate my schedule. Derek and one of his employees (a certified technician) came to my home on time, as promised, were professional, friendly and explained what they would be doing. They identified some issues and showed me a photograph of one of the issues they needed to repair. In response to my request, they also produced an insurance certificate documenting insurance coverage. From beginning to end, I found them to be courteous, responsive, competent and professional. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending them to others.

They scheduled their appointment Christmas Eve because we called them very late and we wanted the work done before our Christmas guests came. They came in the morning, did the work cleaning the chimney, were quick, barely noticed they were there, they left no dust or dirt. Great company. Were gon in a short time.

There is a reason Horizon Chimney Services and Derek have so many glowing reviews here. They do terrific work in every aspect of the job from the first phone call through follow-up. I started my search for a woodstove by checking out retail stores within 20 mile radius of my home. The reviews on all of them were awful. Terrible service, sometimes rude and arrogant, difficult to deal with. No thanks. So I went to Angie's list and found Horizon -- "A" ratings from many, many customers and Super Service Awards. Wow. I found out that all the accolades were indeed very well deserved. Derek responded to my phone call within a day and we made an appointment for him to inspect my fireplace and give me an estimate for the woodstove. The chimney hadn't been cleaned in many years and was in serious need of attention. When Derek came out to do the cleaning and installation, they were very careful to put dropcloths down from the front door to the fireplace. Then they used a vacuum with a special filter to clean it out without any ash dust going into the air. Nice. The chimney was cleaned thoroughly and again, without any ash or creosote dust flying all over the room. The flue liner was installed from the top of the chimney to ensure a good draft for the stove. Then the stove was brought in (all 350 pounds of it) and installed in the fireplace. I chose a Vermont Castings Montpelier which has a large glass window in the front so you can see the whole fire. It's beautiful and works like a charm. (Just so happens it's the one Derek has, too.) After installation, I emailed Derek a number of times to ask for tips on using the woodstove. In every case (even on weekends) he responded within an hour or so! I'm sure that I would have never gotten service like that from the retail stores. All in all, using Horizon has been a wonderful experience. I mentioned in one email to Derek that he and his company provide the best service I have ever gotten from any business in any industry. 'Nuff said.

Horizon Chimney Services was excellent. They came on time and explained everything that they were going to do. During hurricane Sandy, my chimney cap blew off. When asked if the cap could just be re-installed, Horizon was very honest and said that they could re-install the cap. They explained that the cap was not installed correctly originally as it was only glued onto the chimney. This saved me a few hundred dollars since I did not have to purchase a new cap. One of the servicemen injured himself while working on my chimney and had to leave to get his injury looked at. Even though he was injured he was tidying up before he left, which was something I wouldn't expect someone in his position to do. He was very professional at all times, even after being injured. Horizon sent another serviceman out a couple of hours later to finish the job. Again, the serviceman was very professional and picked up right where the first serviceman left off. Horizon's employees are very professional and honest. I will continue to use them for all my chimney needs.
