we were getting smoke in the basement of our newly purchased house. Dereck came and told us the chimneys were fine, but the caps installed by our last contractor were undersized and a danger. he did great work, honored all coupons and impressed my very hard to impress wife. Thanks

I called and described what was needed and emailed photos. I was given a firm estimate and several options were explained. I then determined what I wanted, an appointment was made and everything was done on time. I'll use these guys again when when my savings account recovers.

The contact person’s name is Derek. He has a guy that works for him. I think I spent $75 on their services. Their price was very reasonable. Totally they were over the top on everything. They were pretty efficient. They did a great job for me. I didn’t get any work done and so I cannot say if their price was competitive or not. The quality of work was good. I will use their services again in the future.

The price was average. They gave me an Angie's List coupon deal. I found them off Angie's List. The owner's name is Derek Carmichael. The service was excellent. I have no complaints. The guy was very nice and very thorough. He didn't make a mess. He cleaned up after himself. He did a good job. I highly recommend him. Their price wasn't the highest, but definitely not the cheapest. It took them two days to call me back.

Excellent interaction with Horizon - fast response to original request (via email), efficient and friendly discussions, technician came on site right on schedule, friendly and clean. They found one chimney didn't need a cleaning, saving me money. Found another that had substantial damage and needs a sleeve and provided a quote for the work (and skipped the cleaning on that, since we will need to line it anyway). He spent the time to show me exactly what was wrong (looking in a mirror up the chimney), and then put everything back together again without any additional charge. Cleaned the third one (our main wood burning fireplace) at a reasonable price and without any mess. I will use their service again, and highly recommend them.

Our gas furnace went out, and in order to put in the new one, we had to add a stainless steel chimney liner. We had already been without heat for 4-5 days when I found out we needed the chimney liner, so we needed someone to do the job fast. I called late on a Thursday afternoon, and Derek called me back first thing Friday morning. With some information about the furnace over the phone, he was able to give me an estimate. He was booking for mid November, but when I explained our situation (no heat for a week, 3 very small children, end of October weather) he fit us in for the following MONDAY. They arrived on time, were very professional and nice, and had the new chimney liner in within 2 hours. We are very happy with the service and even more grateful for their kindness in squeezing us into their schedule on such short notice.

I was delayed leaving work and he waited for me which he did not have to do as he obviously is busy. Great service from start to finish. Mentioned some items to consider doing but left it at that. He even fixed the handle on our damper. I would recommend highly. I have already signed up for next year's cleaning.

Ronnie was on time, professional, neat, clean and answered all my questions. He explained the cost of the chimney cap and why it would need to be a custom cap.

I called Horizon Chimney Services for a fourth and final estimate on a stainless steel chimney liner,to compare with the other three estimates I had. After leaving a message I received a call from Derrick,the owner.and set an appointment for the following week.A serviceman named Ron arrived and inspected the job,he was very pleasant and knowledgable about all aspects of the job and explained in detail how they were going to do the job and answered all my questions. I called Derrick the next day and he said they could start in two weeks. Two weeks to the day Ron and his co- worker Brad arrived to start the job.I want to say right here that you would not meet two more pleasant and sociable workers. They showed me all the equipment and explained its use during the complete installation. I have rarely had a really good feeling about a contractor working as I had with Derrick,Ron and Brad.I would highly recommend this company but I guess I just did with this glowing report.One final note,Derrick was about in the same price range as the other three companies but the quick response time to my call,the friendliness of all the men involved and the knowledge that they knew about their product convinced me they were the right ones for the job.Congradulations guys for a super job well done.

The cleaning went well. Everything is done professionally. Quite some time was devoted to discussing overall state of the chimney, which does not have a cap. To this end, the guy suggested to install chimney cap, explaining the benefits clearly. Estimates have been provided but there was no unnecessary pushing to commit.

The service was performed perfectly. No mess at all. Specific attention to detail and offered to clean the furnace flue (at an additional cost). Inspected the chimney cap and chimney itself (38 foot).

Prompt response to intitial inquiry for estimate, same day! Ronnie introduced self, explained the procedure of determining an estimate, & explained in detail what work was needed to solve the problem. He gladly spoke to my husband on the phone to re-explain everything. Work was scheduled 3 days later with the proviso of a good weather day. Received call night before to reconfirm & day of to alert Ronnie would arrive shortly. Arrived on time, got right to work, & worked tirelessly in extreme heat that day. Extremely professional & careful in the actual work, client contact, & clean up. Happily accepted & applied discount to final bill. Gave a detailed receipt , easily understandable. I found Horizon on Angie's List and couldn't be happier with my choice. Derek was incredibly responsive with an initial email, follow up call, and confirmation call. On the day of the service he and Ron (I think his name is Ron! Very nice) came out and were very thorough with the planned service and in explaining everything to me. We considered the options for a few repairs that needed to be done to our chimneys as apparently they hadn't been serviced in years. I trusted their very knowledgeable advice about everything. I will also be using Horizon to install a new stainless liner in one of the flues to address issues with a 70 year-old chimney with cracked tiles and a corroded pipe this fall.

They were excellent! They were very professional and the job was done on time. They went above and beyond what was necessary by doing an inspection and repairs on the spot.

Spoke to Derek on the phone. He was very friendly and extremely helpful in setting up the services I needed. Ron came out on time and took care of the service request. He was very nice and full of excellent information. He came in, got the job done fast and professionally. I will be in the market to install a wood stove or insert in the near future and will definitely use Horizon to purchase and install the stove/insert. I will also use them for all future chimney cleaning and service needs. I highly recommend them for all your fireplace/chimney needs.

I waited a while before I submitted this report to see if the leak was stopped. I would see water stains and dampness following rain. I have not seen any dampness or stains since the work was completed and there have been some heavy rains since completion. Dereck was courteous and professional. Thank you Dereck.

They were great! They came when they said they would. They called ahead to confirm. They were very nice and polite. The people were great. They were the cheapest of all the estimates.

Horizon went way beyond just fixing the problems. This fireplace is one of those zero-clearance inserts with a galvanized flue and pipe surrounding it to insulate the flue and to provide fresh air. It was not installed properly when the condo was built. The company that makes this product went out of business years ago. One of the other companies we asked to quote on the project would have had us replacing the entire firebox and chimney at a cost of $15,000, which would have given us a nice new chimney, but for this house, the fire is only for ambiance purposes, not heating. Derek researched the company, used his network of chimney professionals, and found the proper information about the flue and its construction and repaired the defects. In short, he went the extra mile to come up with a solution for us rather than simply saying the whole thing needed to be replaced. On the basis of his service, I would recommend Horizon Chimney without reservation.

The work was amazing. I spent $1400 on that work. They were excellent. They were friendly, professional and on time. The quote they gave me was exactly what it came to. They explained everything to me. They offered a booking so that I would not forget. They were very humorous but professional and were like the friendly neighbor next door. They were also business like and professional.

Outstanding job! Derek and his associates were professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. We originally chose Horizon based on the outstanding reputation on Angie's List, and we were not disappointed. The work was done on time and as promised. Despite the snow, everyone took great care to keep the inside of our home as clean as possible. The stove works great, and Derek stopped by for a follow-up visit to answer questions we had on proper operation. Well done! Horizon will be our first choice for future work.

Ron was full of information. I wished he had been the one to install our stove, as he knew way more than the company I had hired. We will be hirIng him again to put appropriate piping and a chimney cap in and on our chimney. I would like to add that he was very gracious when my husband was making conversation by interrogating him for the story of his life.

Chimney sweep missed an obvious 1/2" gap between the counter flashing and the main chimney that was allowing water to run down from roof and cause water damage inside the house. Roofer later found this (showed me high res pictures) and sealed with flashing cement as a temporary fix. Chimney sweep also failed to inspect chimney inside the building where there is obvious severely spalling brick evident in the attic. These are major issues that were missed. These guys were incompetent. Now I have to hire someone else to do the job right. If all one does for a living is inspect and repair chimney's, one should get good at it after a while. Not so apparently..

Derek and his assistant were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They examined my chimney and we discussed what to do to resolve the smoking problems. I was told it was probably due to the soot accumulated in chimney as well ad the current cap being the wrong size and model (we had a very old, round cap with slits, letting very little air out). We still have to test it and if it does not work will let Derek know.
