D&S appliance service came out to fix our Washer through the Lowes warranty service. The washer was taking a long time to clean and had trouble spinning up the spin cycle. Things started off ok, they came out looked at the washer and ordered a new drum, basket and shocks. When the parts came in, they came out and replace all of these parts. While fixing the washer they managed to scratch our brand new hardwood flooring and the washer is now slowly leaking. They came out again to blame the hoses (which they installed after the replacement) and then later on they blamed the design of our brand new house on the leak. They declined to come out again to fix the leaks and claimed Lowes was not letting them. (I think they did not want to come out because it was a 70 minute drive to get to our house) Lowes then reached out to them about the scratched floors and their insurance denied our claim as they stated that D&S used a protective blanked and there was no way they scratch our flooring - another lie as we even had a conversation with them about the scratches which they wanted to fix with a floor polish. So overall, very incompetent company, with very rude employees. My washer is now worse than it was before and I will be out $900.00 to fix my 3 month old flooring. stay away - you have been warned. James

The experience was good over all. The repair person was prompt, courteous, professional, worked quickly, and fixed the problem. The only problem that I had was that the replacement part was way over the price that I could have bought myself. I do understand, they need to make money, but they had an extreme mark up.
Description of Work: I used D&S Appliance Service. They repaired a refridgerator.

We were referred to D&S by the manufacturer as an authorized repair shop after our fridge stopped working on September 18th. We called on the 19th but they could not schedule a visit until September 24th. The repair technician arrived on the 24th, looked at the fridge and told us he didn't have the parts needed to fix it. They would need to order additional parts. We paid $160 for him to tell us he didn't have any of the parts we needed! Plus, we had to pre-pay for the additional labor and misc parts not under warranty. The parts were ordered, another week goes by, and we have to call them to ask what is going on. They tell us they haven't received the parts yet and have no idea when they are coming in because there is no tracking information. 3 days later they call to tell us the parts are in and they scheduled a visit for today, October 11, at 10am. They called this morning to say they sent the parts with the wrong technician (!!!) and they can't come out again until Monday, October 14th. We called back and demanded that they fix the fridge today, have the technicians return to the shop, pick up the right parts, and FIX. IT. TODAY. We are still waiting to hear if that is going to happen, but I highly doubt it. As another reviewer pointed out, we have never had such a horrible experience as we have had with D&S Appliance. Between the cost of eating out, the lost food from 3 weeks worth of a produce farm share that we cannot store, and the cost of paying for somebody to show up only to tell us they can't do anything, it would have been cheaper to buy another $2600 fridge we could have replaced in 48 hours. We are also contacting the manufacturer to let them know how dissatisfied we are and in the future will not buy any of their products since this is the level of service attached to their warranty.
Description of Work: Repair a refrigerator under warranty, replace the fan & compressor.

I had a morning appointment (8-12) for the initial assessment and no one had arrived by 12:00, at which time I had to leave. I had to re-arrange my schedule a second time to accomodate their availability. The repair person was friendly and polite and performed the diagnostic quickly and thoroughly. The part was ordered and installed several days later. I thought the price for the part was high ($200)and checked it out online, where I immediately found the same part readily available for $65. Quiet a markup. I received the receipt for services in an email, however the copy was incomplete, with no price included for either parts or labor. I emailed back to request a hard copy and to remark on the astronomical markup on the part and never received a reply or a legible receipt.
Description of Work: My refrigerator freezer wasn't keeping things fully frozen, so I called D&S to have it checked out. The repair person found the fan motor to be dead. A replacement was ordered (no price given at the time) and installed at $200 for the part and $79 for labor.

Do not hesitate to use the services of D&S Appliance Service. Since this last write-up, new developments have occurred. I had a new dishwasher installed and discovered that D&S had used screws that were too small for the openings that hooked up the dishwasher that the technicians had installed ten years previously. As a result, the Kitchen Aid dishwasher that D&S installed leaked. I was not sure of how much damage occurred until I had the kitchen floor replaced. The water damage was extensive and had penetrated the underlying subfloor. I called D&S to complain and was told that the company did not install Kitchen Aid dishwashers. I then called Simon Furniture in Franklin and confirmed that D&S had been the recommended installer for their appliances. Since I had only used D&S for ALL my appliance work and installations I was very disappointed in their denial and failure to acknowledge what their mistakes did.
Description of Work: I have been using D&S Appliance Service for over 20 years and have never had a problem. The techs are up-to-date on what needs to be done. For example, within the past two years, I have had D&S out to check my washing machine and dishwaher. Both times I was told that those appliances had numerous problems. Again, both times, the techs agreed with me that a new appliance would serve my needs better than a lengthy repair. The company has not performed needless repairs just to make money. When I have had appliances that have needed repairs, D&S has fixed those appliances, my over-the-counter microwave, for example, with true professionalism and quick service. I would recommend this repair service without reservation.

Description of Work: My 1yr old washer kept stopping with an alarm. I would have to send it manual to the next step only to have it stop again. I have 4 kids and do at least 2 washs a day. I have used D+s before so called them again. They came out the same day. Patrick was here for 10 minutes or so and said it was a suds lock. Told me I should have bought a service contract. Gee thanks that helps so much now. He told me to flush it out by using no soap, that the problem had happened because we had used to much soap and the machine was unable to depressurize. Okay so 10 to 13 washes later still have the same problem. Now it is a week later my dirty laundry has exploded. D+S came back the same day I called Late. Outside of the time promised. I didn't care. Patrick again, He told me to load and run the washer so he could see what I was doing wrong.! Really. I found that beyond disrespectful. Anyway this time he sat and waited for it to fault. It didn't. He was about to leave again telling the husband that it was still a suds lock. He loaded up and then decided to check one more thing, the pump. That was the problem there were nasty things in there. I got him a bucket so he wouldn't have to keep jumping up to empty the pan. Problem solved. I went off to chase the toddler came back to write the check and sign the paperwork. Thank God it is fixed. I thought it was rude of him to leave me the dirty full bucket especially when he was 2 feet away from the bathroom toilet. Especially when there is a toddler around.. I won't use D+S again. I went for them because they were the in town choice. I think there are better choices out there.

If no stars was an option, that is what I would have given D&S. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with a service company. They ordered parts without my authorization, and when they arrived and I said I didn't want them (why would I...I could literally by a new range for the price of installing this one part), the owner said that "Somone's gonna pay for this, and it ain't gonna be me." So he went ahead and charged me an extra $377 for the part...surprised he didn't tack on the labor that was never done, too. Not to mention, this repair was to fix a burner that D&S had repaired only a few month's back...But they said that the warranty had run on the parts, and we had to pay full price (of course, they told me this only after the technician had come out to diagnose the issue). Moral of this story: STAY AWAY FROM D&S!!!!
Description of Work: Tech came to diagnose the issue. Told me what needed to be done. Said she would call with a price quote the next day. Never heard back, but they went ahead and ordered the part anyway. For the rest of the story...please see below.

They came quickly and diagnosed the problem and fixed the machine. It's still running well, and we're happy to have our old Kenmore still functioning without having to buy a new washer. We also called D&S Appliance with a question about our refrigerator. The temperature was 50 degrees in the fresh food section, and they diagnosed the problem over the phone, saving a service call, and money.
Description of Work: Washing machine repair on a very old Kenmore washing machine that we've had nearly twenty years.
