Rick from Roger's is first rate. We had the entire house done and received about $2400 in rebates from MassSave. We could not be happier. I could go on and on about Roger's but my recommendation is to contact them for an estimate, meet with Rick, and see for yourself. To get all the rebates you'll have to go through MassSave but you can select Roger's as the contractor. But like I said, call and ask to meet with Rick. I did that before getting into the whole MassSave process. MassSave came out this week to review all the work and they said I actually got more from Roger's than I paid for!
Description of Work: We had everything done! 1. cellulose blown into all exterior walls 2. 11 inches of blown in cellulose into attic 3. garage ceiling insulated with blown in cellulose 4. crawls spaces insulated 5. second floor area beneath the hardwoods fully insulated 6. area behind built in drawers and book cases, in two rooms, fully insulated 7. basement seam insulated 8. vent added to roof and connected to bathroom fan 9. various sealing activities Before the insulation we measured about 3300 on the door blower test. After it was about 1800. They did a great job!

I first got in touch with them back in Dec 2009 and they helped me to understand the rebate process with my utility company. Because the utility company was undergoing some procedural changes, I didn't have Rogers provide an estimate for wall insulation until later in 2010. I finally decided to install wall insulation in 2011 and Rogers was flexible throughout the many, many months I was stalling. Originally Rick came out to provide the estimate and you can tell he was enormously experienced. They provided a prompt and thorough estimate. Their price was middle of the road, but all of the other angie's list recommendations showed me that it was worth it. They were also flexible enough to adjust the estimate for different scope. Ultimately, I went with the original scope and they stuck with their price, even after all the months. They originally planned for 3 days, 4 days at most, but ended up finishing the job in 2 days by sending additional guys. The vinyl siding was taken off and put back without any problems. They cleaned up well (given that some of the cellulose stuff just inherently can't be cleaned up unless you have a vacuum and endless hours). I expressed some concern that the work was done too quickly and John said he would be more than happy to come back to verify that they've done a complete and thorough job. Through the process, I'm learning he's good for his word.

It went well. They came in and they were done within 3 hours. They were clean and brought everything up to code. They were middle of the line on the price. I had two other estimates. They were quick. I scheduled them within a day.

The experience was excellent from start to finish. Rogers was responsive to my request for a quote and assisted in filing the appropriate paperwork for the energy rebate, saving us about $900 on the final cost of the job. Dave and Brett, the team who completed the work, were polite, efficient and did a thorough job. Before they left, they ensured that the entire area was clean and everything that had been moved was put back in place. I would use Rogers again without hesitation.

From the beginning, everyone at Rogers Insulation was incredibly professional, prompt and pleasant to work with. We hit a snafu shortly before the insulation work was scheduled to begin because of a missing Mass Save report, but Rogers coordinated the follow-up Mass Save audit so that the delay was minimal (the error was on our & Mass Save's part, no fault of Rogers'). Carol Taglienti was aware we had a baby on the way and she found a way to re-schedule our insulation work promptly, squeezing us in before the baby was born. And the men who performed the work on the house were friendly and professional, clearly experienced in their line of work. In the end, the workers found fiberglass insulation in one section of wall, so Rogers' promptly refunded us the cost of that one wall ($500) as they didn't need to blow insulation in to that section. Already I can tell the walls are retaining heat better: the walls are no longer cold to the touch, and when the heat shuts off during the day (on a thermostat timer), the temperature doesn't plummet within minutes the way it used to!
Description of Work: We had done a Mass Save energy audit, followed by an independent infrared & blower door test, this past spring and learned that our 115 year old house had virtually no insulation in the walls which was making it quite drafty in the winter months. We found Rogers Insulation on Angie's List and after reviewing the infrared images of our exterior walls, Rick Taglienti and I agreed that Rogers would blow in insulation from the outside of the house. Given the significant rebates available from the utility company ($2,000 in our case) the project cost was cut in half from $4,000 to $2,000, making the decision to go forward much easier.

The team was professional and cleaned up well after themselves. Communication to schedule this work and questions I had related to it could have been a bit more responsive at times (call instead of sending e-mails and talk to a live person). The latter could also be due to the fact that the deadline for the rebate program closes at the end of 2010, and I suspect they are simply overwhelmed with work right now.
Description of Work: Installed encapsulated fiberglass insulation in my basement ceiling (about 1200 sq ft); air sealing of the basement sills, windows and plumbing openings; and laid a vapor barrier in a crawl space. ***NOTE*** My portion of this work was about $625, as it qualified for a partial rebate from National Grid.

We had free energy audit, and Rogers was one of three companies recommended. The owner came out himself to provide the estimate. Rogers provided the most work at the lowest cost. While waiting to have the work done, I had a lot of bad infomation given to me by NStar and the conservation group that provides the audits regarding the rebate for weatherization provided by NStar. Rogers was great about holding off on the work until we knew for sure I was going to get the 75% rebate for the work they were doing. They also took care of all the paperwork for the rebate. There was one problem that needed to be addressed two separate times. The owner wrote out an estimate for the work to be done. After the job was completed, I crawled into one of the knee wall spaces to check or leaks after a heavy rainstorm. I noticed that the insulation was not blown into the floors of the crawl spaces as I had expected from the estimate. When I called, the owner's son came out immediately to look at the work done and compare it to the estimate. He understood where the confusion came from and had another guy come out and finish the job, in addition to adding more insulation to other areas not mentioned in the estimate. The second worker misunderstood the work order and did not blow insulation into the areas we discussed. Shame on me for not checking on his work while he was here, but I also have two toddlers at home. I called again, and another crew came out to finish the job, and it was finally completed. Heating bills went down, and our family was warm. Even though there was miscommunication, I can't get over the level of customer service Rogers provided. I would recommend them to anyone, and will call them up to insulate the walls of the house next year.

They came out and gave us a quote & were very informative. Scheduling was difficult because they were busy due to a rebate deadline. They were late the first day due to equipment malfunction but they finished the job in 2 days with minimal mess and smell. We noticed ahout a 20% decrease in our heating bill last winter and over 2000 of the job was covered by a rebate through our utility company. We would use them again.

Overall it went very well. This job was actually done in late '08, when IR scanning was just coming on line for a lot of places. I got a number of bids, Rogers seemed most comprehensive and they did windows as well. The job wasn't perfect at first but eventually turned out really, really well and Rogers went the extra mile to make sure it did. The windows were great, they were in and out in a day. Some glass on the ground, but the windows before were broken and the guys did the best they could have been expected to. They also did a nice job getting in and out in and out in a day and the quality of the windows they use are really, really good (and cheap!). I looked the energy factors on them, impressive. Good job replacing the moulding, too. Insulation was fine too, relatively no problems, but I noticed some issues later that winter cold spots were it seem insulation was missing. It later turned out that was mostly because of the construction of my house - hurricane cross braces blocking insulation from filling walls in the corners, and roofs underneath windows. The crew that did the job thought they got everywhere, but just missed a couple places. The best possible situation them took place, I notified Rogers, they came back with an IR scan to see what was missing and vowed to make it right. And they did. Corners, under windows, some of this required going from the inside, but it needed to be done. Anybody can do a job right, but the real test it how they handle adversity or when a situation isn't perfect, Rogers did a great job. I should note: Our oil heat use dropped from six 275 gallon tanks to two and change after the insulation and windows. And this winter will probably be better than that. If you're putting off insulating the walls, don't.

The upstairs of the house was uninsulated. The difference in the summer was the most noticeable. The top floor would be too hot for the air conditioner to maintain tolerable temperature. After the installation of the insulation the upstairs is much more pleasant. In the winter we noticed a dramatic decrease in gas usage. After the completion of the job I had some concerns with air leakage in the knee wall space. Rick from Rogers worked with me tirelessly until all my concerns were addressed. Between Rick and his crew they came back to address my concerns multiple times until the issue was fixed. I am very happy with the final insulation job. Rogers Insulation is a quality contractor. They stand by their work, always return phone calls and email, answer all technical questions and have a very big focus on customer satisfaction.
Description of Work: Rogers Insulation completed an insulation job of my 1 ½ story bungalow. They dense packed the ceiling with cellulose, blew in cellulose on the floor of the unfinished knee wall space, and installed fiberglass bats to the knee wall. They also submitted the paperwork for the insulation rebates offered by the gas company.

I had Rogers Insulation install cellulose blown-in insulation to the attic and closed cell spray foam to the basement - this was a fantastic experience! Started off with an in-home insulation by John who walked through the house and made some great suggestions. Got a written estimate within a few days that was very detailed and included pricing for the attic, basement and siding (we decided to postpone the siding insulation). Attic was done first by two guys who closed up air holes with foam, sealed the area around the chimney, blew in cellulose, placed cellulose batts above and built a foam cover over the walk-up attic stairs to maintain an air barrier. Our GC was particularly impressed with that one. All was done and cleaned up in half a day. A new crew came in for the closed cell spray foam. This was initially quoted for foam on concrete without framing in place. This was a recommendation from John to keep costs down as the labor involved with applying the foam directly without having to skim the studs would be less. I appreciated his attention to our budget and we pursued this. Unfortunately, it snowed the night before the crew arrived. They applied foam to two walls but quickly noted cracking. The foam was removed and they tried one other method for applying the material to cold concrete which was unsuccessful. I discussed this at length with Rick from Rogers and the company that made the foam and learned that this was a very rare event that was attributable to the temperature of the concrete. We decided to frame up the basement first and the crew returned for the foam insulation. The foam was installed without any complications this time and Rogers kept to the original quote despite the added labor costs involved with spraying onto a framed wall. Great experience overall and I will definitely hire Rogers when it's time for the siding.
Description of Work: 1.) Basement Walls (limited to 3 walls each approx 24 feet long) Install spray polyurethane foam insulation to the perimeter walls of the basement. We will spray 3 inch average thickness (R-20) closed cell, 2# density spray foam directly against the foundation walls. No strapping or studs are to be installed before the spraying is completed. Install closed cell, 2# density spray polyurethane foam to the perimeter band joists and rim joists. The insulation will be sprayed to an average thickness of 3 inches (R-20). Clean work area of job related debris. 2.) Attic Insulation Install spray foam insulation to the accessible thermal bypasses on the attic floor. These are areas include around the pipes, wires, along the tops of the partitions; chimney, etc. The areas are limited to the unfloored attic and does not include tight areas along the front and rear soffit. Install blown cellulose insulation beneath the attic floor boards of the attic. We will “snake” the insulation hose under the floor boards and the cellulose will be blown to the full depth of the cavities. Install blown cellulose insulation to the unfloored sections of the attic. We will blow the insulation on top of the existing foil insulation. We will add approx. 10 inches of insulation (R-38). Build an insulated cover to fit over the opening in attic floor where the stairs come up. This box will be constructed of light weight 2 inch thick rigid poly-iso foam board. The box is designed to rest on the attic floor surrounding the opening. All debris created by the above described work will be legally disposed of.

We scheduled estimates from three contractors. We decided to go with Rogers because they provided loose fill type insulation, a competitive price, and reputation. Rick Taglienteli inspected our attic and provided the most comprehensive explanation of the job and associated technologies and methods available for attic insulation. His remarks coincided with our own research into the job. We are very pleased with both parts of the job. The workers were very punctual and polite. We very much appreciate that they spent the time and effort to keep the work area clean. They taped up plastic sheeting along the walls and floor prior to the start of both jobs and cleaned up after completion. They were very thorough in the completion of the job. We also appreciated Rick's dilligent communications with us because we had to reschedule the job a couple of times.

Overall, fairly well. The quote was accurate and they did not deviate from it when the amount of insulation needed was far greater than they initially estimated. The patch work was not as to the quality that I would expect from the company providing the most expensive bid. They made many more holes than expected - 120 holes to cover 3 of the 4 walls (one is an interior wall) in a 1000sf condo. The placement of the holes was all over the board - some high, some low, some in between. Some spaced at the the distance the studs are, some places there were 3 holes within a foot of one another. As they began the work on Dec 18th, I asked about the plaster/patch work. We had scheduled the work on the 18th as it was their first opening, and also the last full weekday I would be in town before the holidays. The workers indicated that I should call the contractor to coordinate - maybe he could swing by the following week. I was surprised by the lack of coordination by Dick and his team here. I spoke to Dick and the contractor, and we agreed that the contractor would call me that night or early the following day (Saturday) to coordinate the patch work for Sat, or early on Monday while I was around. Long story short, the contractor called mid-morning Monday, and had to stick around after I left for the airport to get the job done. The quality of the plaster work was OK overall. I the quality was inconsistent though, requiring additional sanding on most holes, and additional mudding on several others.
Description of Work: Insulation blown into existing walls, and patch the holds made in my interior walls) Dick from Roger's Insulation came by in November to provide a quote. I received his quote along with a few other companies. He appeared to be the most detail oriented and simply a good guy. The quote was quite a bit more than others ($1800 for insulation alone, vs ~1300 for the others). With the National Grid rebate and federal tax rebate, my own cost difference was less than $50 between Roger's and the competitors. The came in on the scheduled date and installed the insulation. They made 2.5" holes in the interior walls (exterior walls are stone), blew in the insulation, and plugged the holes with foam inserts. Later, a contractor they use, came by and patched the wholes with plaster. I later painted.

The job was done along with next door neighbor(have attached two family) Called beginning of November for an estimate, which was scheduled for 11/9/09 with 1/2 hour window(very prompt) Richard Taglienti very pleasant and explained process completely. I had done my research and knew what I wanted . I was faxed two quotes 11/10/09 for my neighor and I, which was promptly signed and sent back to Rogers Insulation. About a week later called and had first available date of 12/28/09 assigned. Called back on 12/09/09 and spoke with Richard Taglienti, as follow up on scheduled date and was told possibly could be moved up but the job would be done on 12/28/09. I again called on 12/23/09 in follow up and was told "might" not happen on the 28th but if not going to show up on 28th at 8:00 a.m. I would receive a call 12/26/09. I must admit I got a little concerned.... anxious to get job done in 2009 year, but right on time showed up on the 28th to do the job. Very neat and professional job done. Spent about 4 hours from start to finish. Then moved onto my next door neighbor who had an equally enjoyable experience.

Rogers Insulation Specialists insulated our roof and walls. Our house (2700 square feet of living space) was built in 1915 and it had very little insulation anywhere. Rick Taglienti made very careful measurements inside and outside. He gave us an estimate of $7000 and explained that we were eligible for a $2000 rebate from National Grid. The crew was excellent. They expertly removed and replaced sections of aluminum siding to blow insulation into the walls. There was no damage of any kind. This is a valuable skill today, since most siding is vinyl and aluminum siding is considered to be hard to work with. The crew also did a great job in insulating some unusual non-standard features in the architecture. The house has some cabinets and drawers that are built directly into the walls. The cabinets' interior had no insulation from the outside walls. The Rogers crew figured out ways to wrap insulation around the cabinet framework to insure that it was not a source of heat loss. At first, I didn't think it could be done, but I was happy to be proved wrong. When the job was done, Rick helped us with the rebate paperwork and sent it to National Grid. About six weeks later, we received the National Grid check for $2000. My wife and I are very happy that we chose Rogers Insulations Specialists for this job.

It went extremely well. Rick arrived on time and went through the areas in question. He determined that the insulation we had was already adequate and that it would not save us any money or increase the comfort level in the house by adding more insulation. He explained his conclusions very clearly. He said that the most important thing for his company was its reputation and that not doing unnecessary work was essential to maintaining it.

The guys that came out were prompt, polite and cleaned up after themselves. They did my roof and the 2nd floor surrounding walls. I had planned on doing the 2nd and 3rd floor and I received a call from Richard advising me that it would be best to do the roof. (Although that would be less money.....good for me!) I had a sense the Richard had my best interests in mind, and I trust him. I trust his advice and I will use this company again. Without getting into the details, I was in good hands. We all take chances in life, but who wants to take them when it comes to your home?
Description of Work: I have a very old 3 family house in South Boston. It was very drafty. I hired Rogers Insulation to blow insulation into the 2nd floor and the flat roof. This is a big house and they were here for 3 days. The additional services performed were the excellent help and information that I received from their office. I spoke directly with Richard and he provided me with good advice. Also they are helping with the whole rebate process.

Worker arrived on time as scheduled and spent a good 4 or 5 hours performing the work and cleaning up. No complaints. Excellent work.
Description of Work: Basement remodel, two rooms w/ framed outside wall requiring insulation. I called Roger's Insulation for a quote to insulate two walls framed w/ 2x4 studs. They explained the available options - I chose blown in foam insulation. They explained how the work is to be performed, price, rebate information and we discussed scheduling.

Rick Taglienti came out to our house to review our needs and provide an estimate. He was thorough in examining our attic and in preparing his estimate. Two other companies who also bid on the job had suggested that we add ridge vents. Rick noted that we had significant ventilation provided by sizable peak vents and recommended that we use propavents to enhance the circulation. When the crew from Rogers came to perform the work, they went out of their way to minimize the amount of dust created and limit it to their immediate work areas. When they were finished they cleaned up so thoroughly we would not have known they were their if we hadn't seem them. From arriving on time to finishing ahead of schedule, the workmanship was excellent. Rogers also processed all of the paperwork for the NStar rebate on the added insulation. They made the rebate process absolutely painless for us.
Description of Work: Added insulation to three attic spaces, added propavents and soffit vents
