Pro Tech Guy

My work is totally dependent on being online and my client?s files are stored there as well. I had intermittent computer problems and finally got locked in a blue screen scenario. Since my computer was only 8 months old, I never suspected the hard drive would fail and I hadn?t been as proactive as I should have about backing up the files. Needless to say I was in a panic and using the warranty not an option for me because I can?t be without my machine for over a week, which is what that usually entails when you send it out for warranty work. I remembered seeing electronic repair people on Angie?s List and I definitely wanted someone local, someone that I could trust, see and communicate with face-to-face. I also needed someone who would be able to deal with the technical aspects of diagnosing the problem and then be able to deal with the re-installation of an operating system and recovery of files. I found ProTech Guy on Angie?s list and decided to give them a call. The tech guy, Kyle, came to my home office, picked up my machine and said he would get back to me. Hours later he e-mailed to let me know it was a hard drive failure and he gave me three hard drive options and prices. I e-mailed him back and was undecided about whether I should bag the whole machine (laptop) and just buy a new one. He reassured me that my computer was up-to-date, with a good processor and LED screen. He said it should last for years. He also mentioned that the old hard drive was very slow. It had taken six hours to run the diagnostics on it, where it should have only taken around 45 minutes. He mentioned that with a new hard drive (one that he had recommended) I would have a better, faster experience in just about every computer task. He also said that my machine could take another 2 gb RAM, and he included the price in his e-mail as well. The last thing he mentioned in his e-mail was the fact that for less than $20 he could get me a USB cable that would allow me to tap into my ?broken? drive for however long it lasted so that I could recover the files I needed. I okay?d the repair by responding to the e-mail and the machine was back on my desk and I was working by the next night. I guess what impressed me most about the service from ProTech Guy was the fact that I was not just given the remedy for the problem. I was given options and advice, which I truly appreciated. Kyle even told me how to backup with the Windows 7 operating system and he explained how reliable it was and how to do it. Finally, I was able to recover files from the old drive, my computer is now much faster, and I barely missed a beat in my business. Recently, I found out that ProTech Guy does setups for tablets and other electronics. I will definitely call him if I need help in those areas as well. If you live in the Belmont, MA, Boston-Metro area and you have a computer problem, I wholeheartedly recommend Kyle and the ProTech Guy.
