They came over and checked that and the connection holes. Everything went on fine. They were efficient and found the issue right away. They were responsive and did a good job. They were slightly expensively priced. I will use their services in the future too.

Plumber was on time and efficient. He diagnosed on the first visit and had to come back a second time since the parts were not something they had immediately available. Rather than stay on the clock while he went to get the part. He scheduled a second visit and came prepared. This saved us money and was much appreciated. In addition to the water arrestors he also installed additional hangers along the pipes to minimize movement and noise.
Description of Work: We had a water arresters installed. There was a loud thunking coming from the pipes when the washer was filling. Also installed additional supports along the pipes.

They do a good job in at timely fashion. Easy to reach by phone and always come when promised. I would use them again and recommend them to others, but be sure you know what you are paying before they start the job so there are no unwelcome surprises.
Description of Work: I have used them before. A big company, so quality varies a bit depending on who comes. I have used them for big jobs (over $1500) and small jobs. Last one was to repair and replace a shut -off valve. The plumber came on time, was professional and experienced. I find them somewhat expensive (always a service charge just for coming out, on top of the labor and materials- and their hourly rate is high.

Dear Member; Thank you for your report and your assessment of the quality and professionalism of our work. There is one misconception included in your report that I will take this opportunity to clarify. Our service charge to come out to your home always includes the first half an hour of labor, which is not on top of, or in addition to, the total hours of labor spent on your work. If a technician spends an hour and a half completing the work on your job, you will be charged a service call for the first half hour and an additional one hour of labor, totaling the hour and a half of time spent. Any questions about amounts charged can always be discussed at the time of service with the technician. If you have questions after you have paid a bill, our staff is a phone call away and we are happy to address any concerns you have. We look forward to being of continuing service to you for your plumbing and heating needs.

Just as expected. all fixed. You pretty much expect to pay $150+ for a service call.
Description of Work: I've used them for years. They are very good. professional. In this case I had 3 minor problems. The thermostat, the drain function on the furnace & a facett that had been installed improperly. They fixed them all. The facett required a few phone calls.

My dryer duct was completely clogged. No air was being vented outside and the dryer wasn't able to properly dry the clothes. I called Paul Flaherty on Monday and they said they could come over at 2:00 PM on Wednesday. At 1:59 the doorbell rang, it was nice that they were right on time. The service took about 1 hour and they completely solved the problem. They even gave me suggestions of how I could move the duct in the basement to decrease the chances of this happening again. Overall they were extremely punctual, polite and professional. I would absolutely use these guys in the future

Russian (?) guy working at Flaherty knew all about steam heat and was able to diagnose the problem (pipes had cold water in them) and help fix the banging (drained pipes so hot steam and cold water wouldn't mix in pipes and cause banging). He spent a good deal of time troubleshooting but he felt it was justified in that my furnace has outgoing steam and incoming drain lines and was more complicated than most of the older steam heat units. I had installed a digital thermostat and this was contributing to the banging because the system was cooling down too much (anything over 5 degrees and you can get banging in steam heat) so he helped me understand how to keep a more constant temperature with steam heat as opposed to the large fluctuations you can have with forced hot air (low at night, warm up in morning, etc). I haven't had a problem with banging since!
Description of Work: Work on banging steam heat pipes, replaced digital thermostat with old style manual thermostat because of steam heat.

Original estimate was ~$75 higher than a competitor's estimate, but Paul Flaherty agreed to match that competitor's price, i.e., they agreed to lower the price. The Paul Flaherty plumber installed what appear (to me) high quality parts -- pipe, joints, drain assemblies, more solid than what was there originally. He gave us advice about other plumbing work we were considering, including advising us against replacing some bathroom faucets. Very professional work - this plumber was in his late 50s, took his work seriously and cleaned everything up and tested and retested his work before he left.
Description of Work: Replaced traps and installed popup assemblies on two bathroom sinks, repiped kitchen drain.

I chose Paul Flaherty Plumbing because their tags were hanging on the boiler. They were polite on the phone when I scheduled the appointment, and Jeff Foster was on time for our morning appointment. He measured some levels (e.g., CO), took apart the boiler, cleaned it, reassembled and measured again, and added updated tags. It turned out that not much cleaning was required and he tells me there's not anything that can be done to tune such a boiler. He drained a few gallons out of our hot water tank, but didn't see much sediment. I asked for quotes on new systems and on a hose-bib replacement and he gave me ballpark numbers for all of these. Overall a good experience. I wish it were less expensive, but as long as everything is safe and warm, I'm satisfied.

Excellent. Came on time, got all the work done to sort out a variety of issues. Zero problems since the work has been done. Some members think this vendor is a tad pricey. For us, the price was commensurate with the quality of work done - totally professional, reliable, solid.
Description of Work: Cleaned up old pipes - moved some, cut out and simplfiied routing of others, replaced dubious looking old crank cut off dials with appropriate lever cut off valves. Also repaired whole house filter installation done by family member that didn't work right and was leaking.

It went very well. While it was hard coordinating a carpenter and a plumber, overall I am very happy with Paul Flaherty. Brian and John and the rest of the crew were very professional and really knew what they were doing.
Description of Work: I changed a laundry room/half bath into a full bath with a handicap accessible roll in shower plus changed the sink to a trough sink that a wheelchair is able to roll under and the toilet to a handicap toilet. WOW! I was so impressed by this company! We had a leak from our dining room ceiling. Called Flaherty Plumbing on a Friday night and they came to check it out the next morning. Shaun found the problem quickly (cracked toilet elbow pipe) and noticed that we needed a different sized flange and that the leak may have been going on since we had the toilet removed and replaced to have tile work done in January 2010. I was so impressed by Flaherty's quick response, professionalism, and expertise. Also, Shaun had to find a proper size flange (he wasn't expecting to replace ours and we needed an odd size) and went back to the company to get one (rather than making another time to come back again). We were not charged for this extra time. I felt the rates were reasonable. Also, I needed an updated bill for my insurance company and when I called Flaherty Plumbing to explain, I was again, pleasantly surprised by the helpfulness I received (got the updated bill in three days).
Description of Work: Checked for source of ceiling leak, replaced toilet elbow pipe and flange, removed of ceiling part underneath toilet to check for mold, damage from leak, suggestions for repair of ceiling

It took the technician supposedly one hour per toilet to install new bowl kits. I had my brother (a handyman, but NOT a plumber by any means) help me out on my toilets years later, and he finished one within :30 to :45... The technician set the upstairs toilet's floater "too high," and I was leaking water down the toilet for MONTHS before I realized what the problem was (I was a new home owner)... Flaherty charged me AGAIN for the service call to reset the floaters?!? // My water bill over the period of time prior to the 2nd service call TRIPLED. Due to the technician's faulty initial setting, I literally "threw money down the drain."
Description of Work: I had two toilets which weren't functioning properly. I needed them examined and fixed.

Response from Paul Flaherty Plumbing Co Inc
The member's memory of work done by us in 2002 is not entirely accurate. Original work performed was on June 28th, 2002. Two of the member's toilets were completely re-built including new flush valves, brass fill valves, two new supply lines and new flush valve seals. Both tanks were completely removed from the bowls, new tank-to-bowl bolts and seals were installed. One hour per toilet would be a very reasonable amount of time, and not a job to be taken on by a handyman. On May 30th, 2003, we were called to the member's home and adjustments were made to the second floor toilet under warranty. Our company stands behind all work as we did in this case. A call to us sooner than eleven months after our first visit would have resulted in far less wasted water. A concern call to our office is all that is needed to explain price issues. Professionalism, punctuality, and responsiveness were not at all lacking on our part, as our records indicate.

I trust them to deliver. Can't go wrong.
Description of Work: We've had Flaherty Plumbing for several smaller jobs in our first few months in our new home. They hooked up our new gas drier ($539 because it needed a new pipe to the exterior). Replaced our broken sump pump ($428) , and have done a couple of other small jobs like unhooking the dryer and a vanity so other work can be done ($85). They are always very professional and friendly, on time, and responsive. Nothing bad to say here...the run a very tight operation. Price may be a bit higher because of this.

Woken up at 6AM to smoke alarms going off and smell of burning and slight smoke in the basement. After turning off the gas and boiler, I searched for source of burning and could not find. After some time, the smell and slight smoke disspiated so I knew it must have been the boiler. Called fire dept. and gas dept. Fire dept. said with burner off there is no chance of fire. NSTAR said my boiler is clogged and I need to have it cleaned and cleared before turning back on. So basically the heat was turned off during a cold winter day with forecast for alot of snow. Not a good time to have no heat. It also happened to be a Saturday. I called my usually plumbing company and a few others and they told me they had no experience with a plugged boiler and it might take a while to come. I called Paul Flaherty and they told me they would be here between 4-6PM (I talked to them around 10AM). Since they sounded like they could fix the problem, I elected to try them out. They came at 1:30 instead of the 4-6PM. They told me it would be emergency/weekend prices so I was prepared to pay. Hey, I just wanted the heat back on ASAP. They came and inspected and did a total clean of the boiler, which had not been done in a while. Sorry to say, I did not even know I had to have it cleaned. They said it was so dirty and clogged, it probably hadn't been done in many years if ever. It took them two hours to fully clean it. They were very professional and even very nice people. They cleaned up after themselves and stayed out of my and my kid's way. While I wasn't happy paying that much, it was fully warranted and I have no complaints and I don't believe it would have been cheaper elsewhere (but certainly not cheap). I would fully and wholeheartedly recommend Paul Flaherty Plumbing and will certainly use them again. After waking up to a nightmare and having nightmares throughout the day of what it would take to get it fixed, these guys fixed my problem, fixed me, and the heat is back on. Many thanks.

I have had several very positive experiences with Paul Flaherty plumbing. My wife and I bought a foreclosure back in May and we knew that we were going to have our hands full. There were several plumbing issues that needed to be addressed, as well as the installation of all new kitchen appliances. I decided on this company as a result of the positive reviews on Angie?s List. The quality of their work, as well as the professionalism of their employees, is fantastic. They have made what could have been a very stressful experience, into an enjoyable process. The only negative thing I can say is that they do charge a travel fee if you are out of their service area. I feel that after spending thousands of dollars this year they might be willing to waive the travel fee on my most recent project. Unfortunately that is not the case, so I am going to try another plumbing company closer to home (that has also received very positive reviews on Angie?s List). The bar has been set pretty high, but I cannot justify throwing money at travel fees each time they come to the house. My recommendation is that if you live within their service area, and want the work done right, then give Paul Flaherty Plumbing a call.

It was a holiday weekend and they told me that the work would be billed under emergency charges. The first guy who came to do the work thought that it was the outside flange that needed work and not the one on the inside, and he didn?t have the outside flange. So they charged me for an hour and didn?t do the work. When they came back the next time, they charged me again from scratch. Ultimately, just to have that flange changed, we paid almost $475, which was tough to digest. It would have saved me $150 to $200 if the first guy who came out had fit the inside flange. Both the guys were polite, and so we didn?t have any complaints about their professionalism. I appreciate that they came out on a holiday weekend but I was not happy with their knowledge and what they charged us. I had a cordial chat with Paul about this. He said that he would talk to his guys and come back to me but I have not heard from him. I would use them again only if I don?t find anybody else to work for me first.

The member was upset that her tub drain problem was a much larger main drain sewer problem that required rooter service to clear roots from the main drain. Every attempt was made to keep her informed of the costs as the work proceeded. Our technician spent a considerable amount of time on sewage clean up resulting from the member's refusal to stop using plumbing fixtures until the problem was resolved. Her final bill was heavily discounted. The services performed far exceeded the amount of money paid.

Jason Ravitz (master plumber) was a pleasure to deal with and is a consummate professional. He explained the work to be done and took obvious pride and detailed care in the work he did. He worked efficiently and quickly, took all factors into consideration when choosing what steps to take and tolls/materials to use (so as to minimize any harm to our existing parts) and completed the work faster than anticipated. Best plumbing experience ever, from the first call into the office to the work done on site!
