Working with Marcello and Madronas Bros was a delight. He was very responsive and was willing to work with us to adjust the scope of work to get the price within our budget. Their estimate was higher than the others we received, but the level of customer service and the professionalism of his team made this the best value by far. They redug and replaced 100 feet of exterior french drainage system in yard; including perforated pipe and gravel. They removed the concrete single car garage floor and replaced with perforated piping and gravel, new concrete floor poured. They replaced some stonework on the front stairs, re-pointed the bricks, repaired the surface of the foundation and installed a 10 x 10 blue stone patio. The results exceeded my expectations. The crew kept the work site as clean and organized as they could, and Marcello always kept us in the loop as to what was happening and what to expect next. I will definitely use them again for any landscaping, stonework or drainage projects.

We worked with Marcelo Madrona. We had several contractors give come out and gives us quotes. Marcelo was by far the most knowledgeable and had the best ideas. He was head and shoulders above his competitors. His quote was in the middle of the range. Marcelo's team was great. They arrived every day by 7:45 am, were pleasant to chat with, cleaned up as they went along and left the work area tidy every night. Geronimo (I may not have the spelling right) placed about 98% of the stones and he was an artist. He was amazing to watch, studying the wall, finding the right stone, chipping it as needed to make it fit perfectly. What really impressed us was the supervision of the team by Marcelo. How many contractors have you hired where you never see the guy who sold the job again? Not Marcelo. He sold the job and he supervised it very closely, on site virtually every day, often twice a day, answering our questions, giving directions to his team. He was easy to work with and very personable. We would definitely hire him again, recommend him to others and are happy to be a reference.

Vincente and his whole team was a pleasure to work with! We wanted to re-do our front and back patios, as well as re-do two walkways to the house. All were previously installed flagstone and failing and we wanted to put in pavers. Vincente spent a lot of time with us giving us pros and cons of various options. He even gave us a place to go to check out various materials and a full color catalog. We got quotes from three vendors and Madrona was in the middle - but all were very similarly priced. I just got a feeling that Vincente was an honest guy who would do good work - and boy was I right! The first day of construction, it was realized there was 10" of concrete under our existing patio - an unforeseen condition. There was never a discussion of increased price, and within an hour, the appropriate equipment was brought in to deal with the situation. At one point, I realized they weren't going to be finished by a certain weekend and we were having 20 teenagers over for a party. We asked if they could concentrate on the back deck as that's where we would be. They put all the workers on that site and it was done in time for the party. At the end of the day, we have four great looking sites which were an eye-sore before. The price charged was exactly what he said it was going to be and we couldn't be happier with the work or the process. HIGHLY recommended!!!

Very well. These guys really know what they are doing. They turned over the original bricks and added underground side supports to the walkway. The "new" walkway looks beautiful!

Came out to the house to give quotes on several jobs I wanted done. Was pleasant and on time. However, I got quotes from another company that were over half of their quotes ($525 vs. $1125 for removing trees/bushes). I did not use the company.

The work was done on time and according to estimate. Madrona Brothers is not the least expensive landscaper. But they do excellent work and are worth it.

I worked with Vince, who is a man of few words, but that's because he listens! I got a number of other competitive estimates, but I had to consistently remind those providers of my budget and design preferences. I wanted a very natural looking patio environment and I got exactly that. Vince was very thoughtful in explaining the process and invited me to go to the stone yard to pick out the blue stone and type of river rock and other boulders that I wanted installed. He checked in with me via email and phone calls as the installation progressed. When the time came for the blue stone install, he came out to personally meet with me to discuss the size of the blue stone pieces (I wanted them broken into irregular shapes). He and his installation team were extremely respectful of other areas of my property and cleaned things up pretty well at the end of each day. Madrona Brothers take the quality of their work very seriously and I believe they will stand by their 100% warranty without fail.

I looked them up because we might be using them again this year but I don’t know exactly.

The workers were good. It was done over the course of two days. They were very prompt. What stood out the most was they were able to do the job efficiently and timely manner. I would tell a friend that they aren't intimidated by big jobs.

NEVER SPOKE WITH THEM EITHER ON THE PHONE OR IN PERSON

I'm very satisfied with the results. They were on the high end of bids I received, but it was clear that they were able and willing to do what I needed done. For example, one firm that bid less told me the flagstones I wanted were no available on the market because they were "old fashioned". An odd statement considering the old housing stock in the Boston area, and the fact that my house is mid-50's *modern*. These folks had no trouble finding exactly the materials I wanted, to match existing walkways on the property. The job started earlier than I expected, because someone else canceled, a plus, since winter weather might have caused it to be put off till spring. There was one scheduling issue. Part way through the job they told me they would be back to finish up on the Monday before Thanksgiving, but didn't turn up until a week later, apparently due to a personal emergency. This was not a problem for me, since I wasn't burning to use the patio in December - and I got to pay the final payment a week later :-) - but a call might have been nice to let me know what to expect. Apart from that they were always there when they said they'd be. There were two things I asked them to adjust/correct, and they did it promptly and willingly - a very pleasant change compared to some contractors I've dealt with who have tried to weasel out of fixing problems. I did obviously need to keep an eye on things, but that's to be expected. The workers were pleasant, and the yard was left neat and clean.

Our front steps, walkway and stone walls were charming 30 years ago when we moved into our Colonial Gambrel. Now after decades of New England weather and multiple attempts to repair, we finally started looking for professional help. The walkway, walls and stairs were not only an eye sore, they were dangerous. We wanted to re-establish the colonial charm we have lost and make our front entrance way safe. We got quotes from several contractors and talked with them. We chose Madrona Bros. because they were careful to provide a variety of options, listened carefully to our needs. We also liked the family "feel" and the pride they took in the work they were doing for us. Each day the crew arrived and got to work. There were frequent "check-ins" to make certain that everything was the way we wanted it. At the end of each work day, the work area was cleaned up and any parts that would have been considered unsafe for the moment were roped off . The resulting stonework is lovely and perfectly complements our colonial setting. We have had nothing but compliments from our neighbors, and for the first time in many years, we are looking forward to the trick or treaters coming to our door!

It went very well, we're very pleased with the quality of the work, it looks beautiful. Vincent was a true professional, a pleasure to work with. Very honest and ethical, he was very trustworthy. He explained the estimates in details, explained the options for different stones and other options, and worked with us on some changes during the course of the work. The quality of the work is very clear, his crew was very meticulous, and everything was very high quality. The cost of the job was reasonable and fair and we highly recommend Madrona Bros. for anyone looking for patio constuction work.

Working with Marcelo has been a very pleasant experience. From planning to execution, I enjoyed every conversation with him -- no nonsense, crystal clear explanation, professional workmanship. He is a man of his words. His team transformed our swampy backyard and driveway into a completely fresh look. Our project includes French drain and permeable patio/walkway/driveway. Among several proposals we received, his plan stands out to assure the success of eliminating water issue in the long run. Key ingredients in his recipe include PVC perforated pipe, 4-inch deep by 2-inch wide trench, Unilock permeable pave stone, and of course his highly regarded reputation on Angie's List. The permeable design not only looks fantastic but also passed the torrential rain test with flying colors the other day! I have no doubts that water problem in our backyard has been permanently resolved. I cannot wait to see kids running around in the backyard. I would definitely recommend his service. I have used Mardona Brothers for over a year and whenever I have a large project to be done they're my first call. I've used them for a range of services from general landscaping, weekly mowings, mulch placement, and gutter cleanings. My first experience was a large scale clean up of my new home. They were quick efficient and very fair on price. Since then, they are always prompt, courteous and very thorough. I do a lot of my own lawn work now, but whenever I have large project to be done, they are my first call.

We were very impressed with the work done as well as our communication with the Company. We had first contacted them at the end of the fall for a proposal to have the work completed in the spring. We had three proposals done and they were all around the same amount, with the highest being $6,000. We went with Madrona for the price as well as the professionalism of Vincent. Not only did he fully explain what they were going to do, but he was also very responsive to emails after we hired him. Once the snow had finally melted, I contacted Vincent and his team was out the following week to start on the work. They started on a Wednesday afternoon and wrapped things up Saturday morning. Since most of the work was done during the week while we were at work, we didn't have much contact with the workers but when we would come home at night, they had nicely piled things in the back yard. When they came on Saturday morning, they quickly wrapped things up and then cleaned up the area, including washing off the driveway where rocks and sand were. I'm not sure our driveway has ever been so clean! During the process of clearing the area for the patio, they moved some of the dirt they dug up to a bare spot on our lawn and planted seed for us. This was not part of the initial proposal, but Vincent called me in the process to make sure it was OK. This had been on our summer to-do list, so I really appreciate them helping us out. They also realized a piece of wood by our back door was rotted, which they replaced with a piece of stone to prevent any problems. To top things off, our patio and retaining wall look great and we can't wait for some warmer weather to use it and entertain! I would highly recommend Madrona Bros. and would not hesitate to use them again!

Even though we did not select Madrona Bros. to perform with work, they would have been our choice had we not received strong recommendations from friends for another company whom they had all used. Marcelo was professional and very responsive, even taking time on a Saturday to meet us at a local company for whom they had installed a pavered patio, seating wall, pillars, and fire pit to show the materials we might consider and the color options. I asked many questions of Marcelo and he always responded promptly through the estimation process. I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone that they consider Madrona Bros. for their landscaping projects.

They were wonderful. They did everything they said they were going to do and they didn't go over their price. They have a great website which helped us narrow down what we wanted to do. They were very efficient. They were definitely good. We are thinking about using them again this year for another project.
