Description of Work: It was not easy to find a contractor who works with bluestone. When Lourival (the owner) came over to give me an estimate, I knew he would be able to do the job right. Job: replace a bluestone piece lifted by leakage and ice on front stoop and a step piece down to driveway from bluestine walkway. I was totally impressed and pleased at his skill, On the stoop,he replaced and original piece which turned out to be defective. In addition, the original mortar work did not fill the holes in the cement block used to build the stoop. Lourival filled the holes and made the attachment solid mortar. For better adhesion, he gashed the stone on the mortar side so the mortar would fill the voids. This was important because I was worried that further damage would affect the adjacent stione which supported a column for the canopy over the stoop. Re the walkway stone, it was accurately cut to size and installed neatly. Clean up was very acceptable. He also filled some mortar seams with the "sand mortar," which, while attractive, tends to degrade. When hosing down the walk, I found more seams in need of filling. Luckily, he left me with a supply of the mortar and I did that myself. Conclusion (sorry for length), the is a guy who has the skills you need, especially for bluestone work. I imagine these skills transfer to the other types of jobs he has on his list!. Note: minimum for a job is $500.

Description of Work: Estimate only. Their proposed solution was thorough, very knowledgeable, and delivered in a friendly and timely way. The person who came saved me from making a potential mistake -- different opinion from other two estimates we received (not using waterproof paint on the basement walls, using a breathable paint instead so the basement could continue to breathe and we wouldn't be as subject to mold build-up between the paint and the stone walls of the foundation). When we do this work I will use them.

Description of Work: Our chimney needed to be repaired and repointed and the lining replaced. They gave us an estimate, came when they said they would come, did the work, cleaned up after themselves and the poblem is fixed. We had a bit of sticker shock but we checked and found that their pricing was quite competitive.

Description of Work: Despite the poor ratings with regard to committment, there were some good reviews and I wanted to give this guy a try. I called for a quote and he told me he would call back. I called him several days later and reminded him I was waiting for a quote. He came by a week ago, was pleasant and the verbal quote seemed reasonable. I asked for a written quote and a week later I am stil waiting. I have never worked so hard to spend money.

Description of Work: I left 2 messages about a week apart on the answering machine for Lourival. I never received a return phone call so no one looked at the work to be done. I noticed Angie's List had an "F" above a lot of "A"'s. I have to think something is wrong, but I'm not going to try this person anymore.

Description of Work: Took over a week to respond to my email (which wasn't a big problem for me). However, when the call came there was a screaming baby in the background which I found unprofessional. We arranged a time to meet, which the guy missed completely. Apparently he headed for my town without my address, and called the wrong cell number to get my address. The effect was a no show at my place, and he never called back to explain or reschedule. This guys communication was terrible.

Description of Work: Build a sidewalk (approximately 130 square feet) and steps from the side porch of our house to the back yard. The materials used were brick pavers and granite for the steps. Also tore down an old retaining wall at the bottom of the new steps and rebuilt it using field stone. Also built a dog bed behind the porch.

Description of Work: The front walk and steps (all made of blue stone) were loose and uneven. A few of the stones were cracked. Lourival had to re-secure the steps, pull up the stone walk, lay down a new gravel bed, and restore the stones to their original locations.

Description of Work: The front walk had broken bricks, crumbled cement and uneven surface. The stairs from the driveway also had a few cracked bricks and cracked cement. The field stone retaining walls on the driveway had significant cracks in the binding cement and rocks could be pulled up. I had the front walk pulled up and nearly matching pavers put in and the stairs replaced with bluestone steps and the vertical area re-stuccoed with cement. The retaining walls were taken down and rebuilt using old and new stones.

Description of Work: They replaced a piece of flagstone on our walkway, replaced two steps, re-pointed front and back steps, re-pointed a well and fixed several cracks in our foundation.
