They came and adjusted everything as needed. It has been working out great ever since. Scheduling went well since I am pretty flexible with my time. They were able to come within a day or two of me purchasing the deal. The technician was very nice and knew exactly what he was going to do and what exactly had happened. I am satisfied with the work they did.

Went well. The salesman was nice enough, but took a long time to get back to me with gasket samples. Installers were not the most efficient, but pleasant and appeared to do a good job. DSI had to "best" product selection compared to other providers.

I contacted Door Systems, Inc. in 2011 in response to a special offered on Angie's List. The company responded quickly. The person who did the overhaul was very professional and clearly explained what he did and what else needed to be done. I expected that a repair would be needed. The cost was reasonable. I was please enough with the work that when I had a different problem in 2012, I contacted Door Systems, Inc. again and was just as pleased with their work and felt the price was reasonable.

They did a great job! Got a referral from my neighbor. The estimator came out, told me it would be $365.63 and that included everything: opener equipment, install and tax. The office was a little slow in getting back to me about scheduling an install day (took about 2 weeks) and when they did call, it was to say "We're coming tomorrow" which didn't work so had to reschedule. That is a minor quibble which is why I rated them a B for responsiveness but it is really a B+ or maybe an A-. Technician came to install on appointed day. Friendly, worked fast and seemed to know his stuff very well. Done in about an hour and a half. He showed me how to use all the equipment and how to disconnect and reconnect the drive chain from the door (for those days when the power goes out). Overall, I am very pleased. It will be great not to have to get out of the car to open my garage door.

They said the door was broken and a wire needed to be replaced but didn't want to complete the job until we paid. e didn't expect this this so we unprepared to pay them on the spot. I was not there so my mother had to call me and I negotiated for them to do the job and we would pay later. They later sent us an invoice for the full amount, and didn't include the cost towards the deal. It took a few calls and emails to work things out.

Sorry there was confusion in your experience with us. I called Door Systems to see if someone could take a look at my existing garage door opener; it wasn't keeping the garage door shut and I had to manually open and close it. Someone came out a few days later to take a look. The technician took 2 minutes to look at the mechanism inside the opener and determine that the plastic gear was shredded and the interior mechanism needed to be replaced. But, the technician also told me that for $20-$30 more, I could get a brand new opener installed. I figured that I might as well get a whole new opener since the previous one was 12 years old, and was not installed professionally. So, the technician said he would have a sales person write up an estimate for that. I also asked the technician that I was interested in getting a separate estimate for weatherstripping installed around the garage doors, and he told me he would pass that info on to the sales person also. The technician was at my house for a total of 5 minutes. The next day I received a bill for $120 from Door Systems. I called them to ask why I was charged anything, since no work had been done and the technician was the one who had convinced me to not have him fix the existing opener and instead get a new one. The office could only tell me that this was their standard procedure for service calls, and that if I did decide to move forward with their company that the cost would be "credited" to the new work. But if I didn't go w/ them, I would still have to pay this service cost. I told them I would wait to receive the estimate and let them know. A couple of days later, I received an email from a sales person containing the estimate. The estimate was partially incorrect, because it listed that I wanted 2 garage door openers instead of 1. Also, the estimate listed the parts for the job and a total cost, but nothing was line-itemed out, which I had specficially asked for since I wasn't sure if I wanted to do the weatherstripping. Also, there was no indication if labor was or wasn't included. I called the sales person back and didn't connect w/ him for 2 more days. I told him that the estimate was incorrect and what was wrong about it. He said he just took the information the technician gave him. He also told me the estimate included the cost for labor. Then I asked him when he sent the correct estimate if he could list out the cost for each of the jobs so I could see what they cost and decide what to do. The next day I received an email w/ another estimate. This time, only one garage door opener was listed, along w/ the weatherstripping, but again nothing was line-itemed by individual cost. Again, I had to call the sales person to talk about the estimate. I re-confirmed that the labor was included in the cost, and learned more about what each item cost. Ultimately, I decided to move forward with both the new garage door opener/installation, and the weatherstripping. The salesperson let me know that the office would call me to schedule the work, which they did schedule, for a few days later. A new technician came out on time the scheduled day, and was very polite and friendly. I let him into the garage, showed him the job, and he began right away. I was leaving for work, but I asked him about the exterior keypad, and how he would reprogram that for the new opener. He told me that he would set up a generic code once everything was installed (we decided on 1-2-3-4) so that I could enter and exit the garage for the time being, and then I could use the manual and re-program the code I wanted to use. I left him to his work, and left my house. That night when I got home, I was impressed by the installation job as well as the weatherstripping. Everything looked and worked great, except I couldn't use 1-2-3-4 from the exterior panel to open the garage door. The technician left his personal business card, and I called him twice and left messages asking for him to call me back about the exterior keypad and the code he had programmed. I also used the manual and tried to program the keypad to the code I wanted with no luck. After 2 days of not hearing back from the technician, I called the office to find out if someone could come back out and see what was wrong with the keypad. This is now approximately 3 weeks since I initially called to get an estimate to fix my original door opener. Again, another technician was scheduled, for 2 days later, to come to my house. When the new technician arrived, he took one look at the exterior keypad and said, well, the problem is that this existing keypad isn't compatible with your new opener. I was literally stunned because a) the technician who installed the opener never said that was a problem, b) that technician and I discussed a plan for him to program that keypad!, and c) the technician never left a message when he completed installation that he couldn't program the keypad, and never returned 2 messages that I left him directly. So, this third technician installed a new wireless keypad that works perfectly with the new opener, in about 5 minutes. And I made sure that I paid only for that new keypad, not any further service charges. In conclusion (and thanks for reading this far), I am pleased with the quality and performance of the things that I purchased from Door Systems, but I feel that due to the incompetency of some of their technicians and the estimating process, I can't say that I would definitively use Door Systems in the future.

I called on a Tuesday morning, the day after the motor on the garage door stopped working. I did not know what was wrong with it, at that time. My car was in the garage and there was no way to open the garage door. The phone at the company was answered quickly and I explained the problem to the woman on the other end. I wanted someone to come that day to repair the motor but if that could not be done, I didn't want to replace the motor because I am moving from the house in 3 months. She was gracious and friendly and stated that she would be able to get someone to my house that afternoon within a window of a few hours. Billy and Tom arrived mid-afternoon. They were friendly and professional. It was not clear what was going on right away and Billy was patient and careful while trying to figure out where the wires, capacitor and other parts were hidden in the ancient motor. He was courteous about explaining what he was doing, as I am usually curious when workmen come to the house and I always ask questions. The first thing he fixed did not solve the problem, and he then realized that the motor had burned out. Knowing that I was moving and did not want to replace the motor, he kindly suggested that he detach the motor from the door and set the door up to be operated manually. He and Tom checked that the door was balanced and easy to operate, they attached a strong metal handle and a thick sliding bolt lock to the inside center of the door. It was a great fix - just what was needed under the circumstances and they charged me a minimum fee. The invoice arrived the next day by email - a great convenience. All in all, I was so impressed with the whole experience! Their customer service was impeccable and so was the actual work they did, however small. I would highly recommend this company!

The doors look beautiful and get a lot of comments from neighbors and people who see them. Bottom line: As far as I can see, they have some techs who do good work and some who don't. I think that if I'd had the second tech [John Baril] to do the Angie's List big deal, he would have replaced all four pulleys, done the adjustments right, charged me a few bucks more at that time and saved me the second call and most of the associated expense.
Description of Work: I have a heavy, double wide garage door with an automatic opener. It was going up and down somewhat unevenly, so I signed up in June, 2011, for the check-up offered as a Big Deal for $79. Door systems ended up working on the door twice, since I had trouble with it a few months after they did the check up and associated repairs. First visit, One tech came when promised, looked the door over and told me I needed, in addition to the Big Deal tune-up, two "shiv" (pulley) wheels not included in the Angie's List package, He replaced those and I received a bill for an additional $58.51. The door worked somewhat better for a while, but then started going up unevenly and eventually began to get occasionally stuck. I procrastinated through the winter but eventually called them back in March 2012. Second visit: A different tech came out and performed the following work as described in his work sheet. "Replaced worn out sheave wheels. Tightened loose hardware. Adjusted Electric Operator chain. Lubed and ran door several times for proper operation." In other words, he did what seemed like a classic tune-up and adjustment and he replaced the same 2 pulleys which had been replaced in June, 2011 and 2 others which had not been replaced then . When he finished, the door worked fine and has continued to do so in the 10 months since. As far as I can tell, he did what should have been done the first time, but did it right this time. For this visit, I was billed $192.90. When I pointed out that there seemed to be a lot of overlap with the Angie's List deal, Door systems gave me a credit of $54.88, but I still needed to pay them $139.02.

One of two doors in our two-car garage would not close properly -- come down to floor and start back up again. The service person looked it over, made adjustments that did not work, then took motor unit covering off and discovered a adjustment pin that had fallen loose. Fixed that and, at my request, lubricated both doors and fine-tuned adjustments so doors closed more smoothly and gently. Great job, nice guy. Fair price.

I have used Door Systems a number of times, first to replace my garage door that had been crashed into by a car, then to fix a finicky opener that kept disconnecting itself from the door. My garage door had become stuck closed, so I called them. They arrived promptly at the appointed time (called on the way to make sure I was home) and quickly found that the lock was busted and needed to be drilled out and replaced. Then it took all of 10 minutes to re-set the door on the rollers and calibrate it to open and close properly. I haven't had an issue since but would definitely have Door Systems come back to do any future repairs!
