Description of Work: Todd and his helpmate, along with a third-party plumbing contractor to deal with the gas connection, arrived in the morning and moved out and disconnected the original cooking range which was being replaced. Because the new range was slightly too wide for the space occupied by the original range, Todd had to move a cabinet on one side of the space. Later that afternoon, the range was delivered. Todd had arranged to do other work in the neighborhood in order to be available when the new range was delivered. He was present when it arrived, and spent some time that afternoon working on its installation. However, because the new range did not provide an electrical cable necessary to operate the range, we had to go to a hardware store to obtain the cable. By this time it had gotten to be 6pm, and Todd had to quit for the day, but he returned the following morning and completed the installation and moved the counter so that it fit well next o the new range. Todd left the premises in fine shape. (The plumber had been arranged for and coordinated by Todd, and his fee was separate from that noted before as the cost of service.)

 + -1 moreHe came when he said he would. He explained what he was doing and how he would do it. The work was completed on time. I then asked him to look at my front steps to the door that are crumbling. WE discussed options again, taking into consideration what would make the most sense, ie How long was I planning to live in this house? This is helping to determine how I should approach the repair. This is very helpful as I feel he is honest.
Description of Work: One section of my concrete walkway was crumbling. Big chunks were coming out. I wasn't ready to repair the whole area. I called in two companies to get estimates, which turned out to be high. Then I joined Angie's list and contacted Booth's Home Repair. The owner, Mr. Booth responded immediately. He came over, we reviewed options and he gave an estimate that turned out to be several hundred dollars less than the others.

One of his customers had forgotten to leave a key for him, so he had some free time. He was at my house 2 hours later, and he and his assistant wrapped up the work within 2.5 hours. All 4 tasks were performed efficiently and with high quality. I recommend Booth's Home Repair, and will use their services again.
Description of Work: Replaced dining area chandelier; replaced kitchen sink soap dispenser; replaced bathroom faucet; repaired bathtub caulking.

 + 0 moreTodd needed to make two trips since the initial mudding of the ceiling needed to dry for a day. The initial visit took about 20 minutes and the return visit to put the final mudding and swirl in the ceiling along with the venting of the fan took about 1 hour. The work went smoothly and everything looks great. Todd was accommodating to my time and cleaned up after the job was complete.
Description of Work: Todd and his associate patched a hole in the ceiling that was created when we changed our bath fan. The original fan was rectangular and the new one square. He mudded the area and adjusted to match the swirled ceiling. He also vented the fan out through out the roof.

 + 1 moreOverall I am dissatisfied with the results. Todd and Dave showed up when promised, cleaned up at the end of every day's work, and are nice, well intentioned guys. But they used joint compound instead of plaster on the ceiling and there is a crack and ugly discontinuities at the junction between the new living room and existing dining room ceilings. I am now correcting this myself after their attempt to repair made things worse and Todd failed to respond to my e-mail asking if this met his standards for quality and workmanship.
Description of Work: Remove 2 existing plaster walls and ceiling, remove and replace insulation using solid sheet plastic vapor barrier, install new drywall on walls and blueboard on ceiling, and plaster ceiling and apply swirl pattern to match and blend new living room ceiling with existing dining room ceiling. Remove and dispose of non-related trash with construction debris.

 + -1 moreI asked someone from Booth's to come take a look at 2 broken windows in my home. We agreed on a time, but they never showed. They came much later, while I was picking up my daughter from school. I have tried several times to contact them since, but they don't return my calls. Very frustrating.
Description of Work: Work was never scheduled. Subsequent estimate from another contractor is around $1700.00.

He gives a discount to new customers too. I have used him for so many things and every time he does a great job. I have also told others to use him. He is a great resource. HE is great to work with and just a fabulous guy.
Description of Work: He filled my basement floor with concrete most recently. He also fixed my shower and put in a garbage disposal. He painted the interior of my 2000 square foot home as well and replaced two ceilings for me. My attic door was stuck and he did something to fix that.

 + 6 moreTodd and Dave are gems in the home remodeling business--prompt and reliable, trustworthy, professional, careful workers, and the price is always reasonable. They will go the extra mile to make sure you're satisfied. Most of my work has been on a relatively small scale, but Todd does large remodeling jobs as well. I highly recommend Booth's Home Repair for any home improvements you have in mind.
Description of Work: I bought an antique Colonial and found a number of things that needed fixing. Todd replaced 2 ceilings after a pipe freeze when the house was unoccupied, and Dave painted the ceilings, walls and trim in those rooms and others in a highly professional manner. Todd has performed numerous other jobs; he can do virtually anything, including plumbing and heating work. He installed a disposal, replaced and readjusted my bathroom shower fixtures, replaced a dirt section of my cellar with concrete, fixed my attic pull-down stairs and a closet door, etc. This Fall he's going to insulate pipes in my cellar.

 + -1 moreI had called to ask if he could come out to do a gutter cleaning for us. He said that he would come by the next week to take a look at the house and do an estimate for us. When he never asked for our phone number, I asked if he needed it, and he indicated that it was on his caller ID. The next week, we called back to see if he could also look at our garage door opener. He never did the estimate and never returned the call. Very disappointing.

 + 4 moreThings went very well. The first thing to note is that apparently Todd is skilled in all aspects of home repair and can fix just about anything and everything. And, when he runs into problems, he tends to them rather than just covering them up. For example, in the bathroom he replaced a rotten pipe while installing the sink and when one of the doors didn't hang flush, he returned them and brought back a new one! The countertop he made was cut perfectly. It matched the corner cabinets better than I could have hoped. The other thing I liked about Todd is that he managed to balance attention to detail with the big picture in a simple, straight forward way and focused on the end goal. Some of the painters I brought in were talking to me about the color of the paint on my other walls, prospects for lead paint on the doors, my expectations from my painter. Todd just got it done. He was very forth coming about the budget, especially when I kept adding things in. Very easy to work with!
Description of Work: I originally called Todd because I wanted a custom made wood countertop for some new cabinets that I had recently installed. When he looked at it he seemed to understand exactly what I was looking for and gave me some things to think about (type of wood I wanted to use). Since that conversation was going so well, I asked him about some doors I needed painted and/or replaced (whichever was going to cost less) and he looked the doors over carefully and gave me his straight forward, not trying to sell me something I didn't need opinion about what he recommended and about what the price would be. That went so well I asked him about my bathroom situation and could he replace the sink, cabinet, vanity and light fixture. Yes, not a problem. And then once he came to do the work I added some more things including ceramic tile replacement in the kitchen, fixing up some alligatored window sills in the bedroom and living room, and cleaning up some brick around the fireplace.

 + -1 moreWe called the contractor to see if he could take a look at our portico that needed some repair. He came out when he said he did and promised to call by a certain day (Saturday). He didn't. We called him three days after promised date and he said he would get back to us and was interested in the work. A week later, nothing. We contacted him, left a message, but he did not return the call. Another week went by, still no call back. We placed another message and still nothing. It's now been nearly a month and the contractor hasn't contacted us. Very unprofessional.

 + 6 moreThough listed as a handyman, we used Todd primarily for ceiling repairs. Maybe he should be listed as a plasterer. The advantage of using Todd instead of a regular plasterer is that while a coat of plaster dried he could do projects around the house. Impressively, he even identified and fixed the cause of a leak that ruined the worst ceiling. His workmanship was great. His innovation was wonderful. The only snag we ran into was pricing. We chose to use Todd, who was the highest priced fellow we interviewed, because he seemed extremely capable and knowledgeable. (Definitely get an estimate from this guy; you will learn something.) Our budget nearly doubled without our knowledge. If we had checked in with him half way this probably would not have happened. Both Todd and his partner, Dave, are a pleasure to have around the house.
Description of Work: He plastered and repaired six ceilings. He painted two rooms and four ceilings. He fixed switches and light fixtures. He replaced a facial board in our kitchen that could have been tricky. He did some carpenter projects, such as fitting a rickety Armour with supports and slicing out the back of it so it could be used as an entertainment center. He also custom fit a melamine board to hide the trash cans in our mud room. He extracted an ancient kitchen wall fan and neatly boarded up the gaping hole it left. He moved furniture, and dissembled a baby crib. He replaced a sink and installed a storage cabinet with it. He cleaned gutters. He mounted curtain rods. He also fixed a leak between our chimney and roof. He repaired a main beam that suffered termite damage.

 + 1 moreExcellent from start to finish. Todd returned my enquiry call immediately and came to review the work the next day. The estimate was delivered two days later as promised. Todd and his crew were always here when they said they would be and called us right away if they were going to be delayed. The quality of the work was outstanding, and Todd and his crew were a pleasure to have on the premises. They were all unfailing polite, quiet and personable. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Booth's Home Repair again or to recommend them to anyone. The work was great, the price was right, and the experience was among the best we've had working with any contractor.
Description of Work: Replacement of 8 window frames and sills, replacement of other various rotted clapboards; building a huge closet in our Master Bedroom; repairing and rebuilding two sets of stone steps; misc. smaller jobs.

He brought a licensed carpenter with him to make sure the stairs were repaired correctly and came on time and finished the work in a couple of hours. I definitely would call him again, and recommend him to all my friends.
