Todd and his assistant Dave were quick in procuring the raw materials. They came over on time as informed. They started the work as scheduled. There were times when there were unexpected issues and he would bring them over to my notice immediately. He provided estimates promptly and was willing to make any adjustments to raw materials as per my requirements. Both were able to complete the above jobs quickly and efficiently. They took accurate measurements and made sure everything went smoothly. He listens to your concerns and is willing to work as per your requirement. His rates are competitive and better than other handymen in the area. He has good experience in wood work and other areas. Will recommend him to anyone and will use his services again in the future.

Todd and his crew have done a great job on all that I have asked them to do. His quotes are accurate, and his work is timely. The crew always cleans up after they complete their work. I trust them to work in my home while I am out. I would recommend them, and plan to bring them back for future remodeling work on my kitchen.

Overall this was not a good experience. At the beginning things were ok but then it appeared that Todd had underestimated the work involved in replacing the stairs and landing and the top rails on the deck. When he didn;t show up for a few days and I had no idea what was going on (the job was only supposed to take 3 days) he informed me later that because he had under bid this job (which he kept telling me, how is that my fault?) he had to leave and go work on another job to make the money to pay his workers, he wasn't getting paid and he was losing money on the job.... then he said he had some family or personal problems etc.. The quality of the work was not great. The rail caps on the front landing were screwed in so tightly that the wood split and the edges bowed or winged up and the front caps were not the same as the back caps. The same thing with the top rails on the deck, and the mitered cuts did not line up. The ballisters were crooked and leaning opposite ways. He did come back and fix some of them and would have come back again if they were still crooked but it just wasn't worth it, I can live with the few remaining crooked ones. When I received his final bill I saw that he had the glass pane replacement listed but he had not done it. I let him know that I was going to be deducting that from the invoice but he said that he did have the glass and would install it which he did.
Description of Work: I hired Booth's to replace my front stairs/landing which were in very bad shape and to replace top rails on a deck and a glass pane in a basement door.

Response from BOOTH'S HOME REPAIR
I was suprised to see this comment. When we started the work on the front steps, we had some additional repairs that had to be made due to rotted boards, which she was fine with the additional expense. The caps we added which also were in addition to the original quote were pre-drilled before screwing them in place to prevent any cracking. The pressure treated boards and decorative PT peices do crack sometimes or twist slightly, once they dry out. The extra work we did at the front steps, was bill out at cost to be as fair as possible. Once we started working on the side porch and back porch area, there was more boards that needed to be repalced than what was estimated. I did mention the additional balusters that needed replaced, the post and 2x4 boards that should also be replaced, but she had a budget and was not able to have it done. With stock left over form other jobs, we went and made as many balusters as we could. Because of one of my crews running behind on another job and my crew running behind because of the additional work we were doing, plus needing to leave early a couple days early due to a family member getting sick, I wanted to replace the extra balusters at no charge. Because I had to stop working at this job to complete a couple of other jobs that were scheduled (which also helped cover the additional time that was being spent on this job). This also gave me more extra stock to make more balusters for free. The remaining balusters we re-secured and straightened out the best we could. After being away from this job, due to needing to wrap up other jobs and one rainy day, I returned with the 2 crews and we finished everything within a day (installed boards as the tops to the railings, replaced trim boards on the house and repaired louvers on the attic vent). The boards used as tops to the railing, were not cut on a 45, becuase of the post and 2x4 boards which brace the railings were twisted, but when istalled did but up to each other (which must have shrunk as the PT dried out). As far as the invoice, I do list all of the time and materials used on the job. When a job exceeds the time figured for the job, I show the extra time being credited, not to expect people to pay for it, but to show that we keep our word on quoted jobs. This job did cost me an addtional 3-1/2 days, which became a loss, but becuase of this being her first time using our services, I wanted go the extrat mile and satisfied with the additioanl boards we replaced (even though the deck still needed boards replaced). When she called to tell me that I forgot to replace the glass pane, I went over the next day to take care of it. Once the job was done, I follwed up with a letter thanking her for being patient while we made the repairs to her deck and gave her a $25.00 coupon for future use of our services. Again I was shocked to see this comment.

Todd and his assistant were friendly, organized, reliable, and competent handymen. They listened to what I wanted to do and the finished jobs look great. I would definitely use them again. My only complaint was that I was unable to reach Todd for several days when his phone died. Other than that, he was very responsive and got back to me promptlly.

I called looking for someone to fix a broken hinge on a heavy medicine chest door, that it was a straightforward fix. They did not return my call. . I am very polite and professional on the phone. I never heard from him. I wish handymen/contractors would just pick up the phone and call you back and let you know their status: too busy, or it will be next week, or whatever. My time is just as valuable as theirs.

Todd had to contend with walls out of plumb and uneven floors, but he is great at figuring out how to solve problems caused by the original carpenter. Definitely knowledgeable and easy to work with and a pleasure to have working in our home.
Description of Work: We hired Booth's Home Repair to complete the carpentry work on our partially sheetrocked second floor. Todd and Dave finished the sheetrock in 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, upper and lower hallway and stairway. They skim-coated, sanded, primed and painted. They were very particular that the walls and ceilings looked perfect. Todd built a linen closet in the upper hallway. He figured out a great plan for an oddly shaped master bedroom closet, enclosing exposed pipes and putting shelves on the back wall and double rods on each side. A great solution! They put plywood over the floor so we would have a better base for the final flooring. They installed cabinets and a shower stall, but we hired a plumber and electrician to do the hookups. He built shelves beside the new shower stall. We love the railing and newal post he installed on the lower part of the staircase. They trimmed the windows and stained the trim. I finished the sash myself, as this was not in the contract. Likewise, they stained the doors and I applied the finish, as agreed. They trimmed around the existing pull-down attic stairway, adjusted the fit and installed a latch so we wouldn't lose heat.

Excellent! Todd and Dave took ownership over my project and performed fantastic work. They made suggestions to both improve the outcome of my project and lower my cost. I would recommend this company to anyone and plan to call them again soon.

I was impressed because we had a problem with the attic door itself, and he did not find this out until it was installed. He took the door back to Lowe's and absorbed the extra cost to re-install. He really went out of his way to make sure the job was done properly. He also came back and painted the wooden trim around the door and touched up the plaster on the ceiling. Overall, he was great to work with and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

I now have mice in my house due to the air conditioner move, he left a hole open and I am now infested with mice. He has yet to install the transmitter in the closet. The transmitter only had a month to be returned and he hasn t even installed it yet so I don t know if it will work and I can t return it. I had asked him to take down curtain rods and patch up the walls. Two months after he had only done one window, when I asked him about it he said it was already done. I have two windows and he had only done one. I have cracks near the doors that I wanted fixed. He said he would do that and he only fixed one, he said it would be an additional $400 to fix the rest, it is only an 855 sq foot unit. I asked him to switch out the hinges and he told me I needed different plates. I asked him to cut a small piece of linoleum to put in the exercise area and he said it would cost $100. He wants to charge me another $110 to plug the hole that he created where the mice are entering. The estimated time of work was a week and half, it is going on three months. I read the other reports on him and I don t know where the ratings come from. I expect quality work. When I question him about his work he looks at me like I have two heads. The walls are bumpy, it is not good work. I have had to ask him to do stuff over again in the closet. I do not believe the doors will even fit that he is supposed to put on. He said that he would need to install some sort of pulley system to keep the doors closed and I don t think that will work. He hasn t said he would charge me for this work. I have withheld payment at this time because he is not doing satisfactory work and he is taken an inordinate amount of time to finish. For two months I felt like I had to stalk him because he never answers his phone, I never know when he is going to show up. He has keys to my home that he hasn t returned even though I have asked for them back. I had explicitly asked for him to leave the keys in a specific spot and he said he didn t understand and that he thought the keys were for him. All in all he is asking for an additional $900 to finish work that was supposed to be included and I believe I am being over charged.
Description of Work: He was supposed to extend a closet so that I could put in a treadmill, reorganize some things and put on new doors. He was supposed to install a transmitter in the closet so that I could have a TV in there. There were other home repairs; he added a part of a fence and a gate. To do this he needed to move the air conditioner as well.

Response from BOOTH'S HOME REPAIR
First week and a half: closet is framed and sheet rock is hung, almost all small inside projects are complete. Midway through 2nd week: A family emergency comes up and I had to stop work, I called on the weekend to come back Monday, but door was locked. Tuesday started work again. Third week, AC unit was relocated and the fence was being extended. Notes started to appear about redoing things multiple times, even when they looked good. Maintenance came by to inform us the color to stain the fence and warned us about her, being tough to please. At the end of the week I told her that I was crediting the $250.00 charge to relocate the AC unit, due to the family emergency screwing up the work schedule. Forth week, inside closet is being complete, the doors arrive (special order due to size) and the doors were the wrong size (store’s fault). 1st labor payment was requested and declined. Workdays became half days to schedule other work and the work here was redoing things plus doing extra stuff for no charge. Week five, she stayed home one day while we continued to redo things and complete the inside of the closet, sold told me at the end of the day everything was good. The next day notes were left about things to redo again; one of the repairs was due to a contractor before us. She started to request for more additional work to be done and I hesitated on doing them, because the down payment for stock was spent and I was over in cost due to all of the redoing. I explained why our days became short, but agreed to come back one day with her home and fix what ever was not to her likings, all went well and I requested the payment at the end of the day, she declined and I told her that I don’t want this to end up in court, later I called and said that I wouldn’t be back until the doors come in to complete the work listed on the contract, which she promised she would pay in full at that time. Two weeks later the reordered doors arrive and are the correct size. I informed her they are in and she tries to schedule a day for us to come back, plus do more additional work. I typed up a proposal for the additional work, requesting a down payment for the stock. One of the extras was to plug a hole where mice are getting in, she felt that the AC tech caused the hole, I worked with him and using the existing hole, nothing was disturbed, the extra line needed was pulled from the inside without disturbing anything. I explained to her if I found that the mice are coming in due to the pulling of the freon line, it would be at no charge. I later here from Angie’s List that she has failed our work During our time not working here, we did other jobs to try and recover from our loses, one of the jobs was good size and the customer which had us do a lot of repairs, plus a new kitchen floor and rebuild window frames. He was very pleased with our work, said he will recommend us and let people come by to see the work. My cell phone was not the best phone, I have lost many calls and messages become saved messages before I hear them. My reception was poor in many areas, where I could not call or receive calls, which would show as missed calls once I was in an area with reception. This was one of the frustrating things I dealt with and it also frustrated Suzanna. After the third week she started to e-mail me more, which I did not get the message until I got home at night. I have since then upgraded my phone and have internet on my new phone. No calls have been missed and I see e-mails when they are sent to avoid getting back to people too late. I find it hard to believe that one dis-satisfied customer, will get me removed from Angie’s List. My track record with all customers, except one, since I have been in business for over five years has been good. The comments that Angie’s List customers have made about us should tell you that we strive to be perfect. We do not except the final payment from a customer, until they are satisfied with the work.

I think Todd does good work, but he needs a personal organizer. He came in July to estimate the job and give ideas. I sent him a check for half the amount of the job on August 4th. He cashed the check on August 6th, but he didn't contact me all of August. I called him in September and left two messages on his cell phone. He finally responded; he felt guilty-he had to do some major repairs on his home and was busy with other work. I said that was okay. He set a time in September. I think he did a decent job. He finished on September 23rd and left the bill in the mailbox. I looked at the work he did and had a question regarding the paint he used on the walkway so I called him that day but his cell phone wasn't working. I sent him a check that day for the remaining amount of money and wrote a note on the remittance form asking him to call me about the walkway. I tried calling him the next day. Again, I couldn't get through on his cell. He cashed the check on September 26th but never called me. He is a good guy, but I find it frustrating. So I am not sure if I would use him again.
Description of Work: Second time I used him. My front steps were chipping away. I called Todd in the summer (in July)and he came over and gave me ideas on what to do. We decided he would put a Trex-like material to cover the concrete steps and make the railing stronger. Since he had fixed a part of the walkway and wall earlier in the year, I asked him to smooth over the top of the wall, which was not done during the initial project. He said he would do that.
