DAVID FORTIER BUILDERS

Dave Fortier came by to give an estimate on a window and siding renovation job. He spent about a half hour reviewing the job, taking measurements, etc., and said he'd get back to me "in a couple of days" with an estimate. He said it was a small job and shouldn't take more than a day or two. After about 5 days of not hearing from him, I called him and left message asking about the estimate and hoped he was still interested in bidding on the job. No response. After another 2 weeks went by, I called him again, asking again if he was going to bid on the job. Still no response. After another week or so, I called one final time, telling him that if I didn't hear from him one way or the other about his bid, I'd be compelled to submit a negative review of his professionalism to Angie's List. I let another week go by and still no response. So here's the review. Frankly, I'm fed up with contractors who tell you they're eager to bid on the work you ask them to bid on, and then never get back to you. It's not professional and it's arrogant and extremely irritating. And I hope Fortier sees this and takes note for the future.

With our deck Dave Fortier came himself and measured the old deck, scoped out what work was required (everything; nothing was salvageable or reusable) gave us an estimate in a timey manner (unlike some other builders we called, who said they would but didn't). When the work began his two employees came and dismantled the old deck, cleaned up the mess and hauled everything away, and build the new deck in a matter of about 3 days. They were very fast but also very good, and attentive to details. We were, and still are, very happy with our deck. If we ever expand it, which we've been thinking about doing, we would call them first.

We're overjoyed with the new deck. Dave Fortier came by to look at the old deck, ask us what we wanted, and gave us an estimate about a week later. He had a crew take down the old deck in a day -- and clean up the mess -- then sent someone to pour the new footings over the weekend so the crew could start building on Monday. They were quick, competent, and did a great job, including some attractive details we wouldn't have thought of but appreciate greatly. We're very happy with the work they did -- and with the whole process, from start to finish -- and would not hesitate to use them again, or to recommend them to others.

We went through a few meetings to discuss my ideas and finances. I feel like David Fortier went out of his way to help me arrive at a plan I could afford. He offered creative suggestions and was patient, organized, clean, and economical with materials. His workers were polite, didn't litter, and cleaned up after themselves each day as if they had never been there. Dave checked in regularly on the progress of different parts of the work. For example, another person put in the floor, and Dave came as soon as it was put down to check on it. He was always reachable and willing to answer all my questions. This process could have been really overwhelming. Dave made it go smoothly, and I'm so happy with my new room. It totally transformed my tiny house into a really efficient living space.
