I pay them a yearly figure. I prepay the whole year. So they'll come whenever. If I see a bees nest or even though they spray for ants and I'm having a whole lot of activity outside, not even inside, they'll come. It's a gold plan where I'm not going to worry about anything. They are great.
Description of Work: We still use Dave's Pest control. We've used them for years. They do rodents and they do everything.

They were understandable when explaining the situation. They came on time.
Description of Work: They came out and looked over the situation and sprayed around the house and gave some traps for the inside. They charged me nothing and said wait a couple of weeks and if I see some insects they will come out to do the full treatment.

Dave's appears to be a friendly, caring company.
Description of Work: I called Dave's Pest Control a couple of years ago because I saw mouse droppings in the basement. They came out immediately and set bait traps in the basement and outside of the house, which solved the problem. They rebait the traps as needed or whenever I call them. I have a yearly plan, so they come out quarterly to check the bait traps and to do the general exterior spraying for ants, etc.

On or about the morning of Wednesday, June 29, I called Dave's Pest Control and said that I would like to get out of my annual contract with them and wanted my money back for the bat exclusion work so that I would be able to hire another company to do the job correctly. Mr. Powers called back and started the conversation off by stating: and quot;that sounds good to us too.and quot; No apologies were offered; no offer to clean up the mess that they created was given. No offer to complete the bat exclusion of the barn was made. He stated that they would only refund the contract for the house that included the Guardian Protection Plan for $925 and $250 for bat exclusion for the house which both totaled $1,175. He refused to refund any of the $1,200 for the bat exclusion work for the barn. I then said that if he would not do that, then I may not be able to cancel with them because I would not be able to afford to hire another company. Mr. Powers said that continuing was no longer an option. He further stated that they will not come out to my property again. This meant not addressing the trapped and dead bats problems in the house and barn that they created, leaving the bat exclusion work for the barn incomplete, violating the one (1) year warrantee on the bat exclusion work, and leaving the bait stations that he had placed as a part of the Guardian Protection Plan on my property. Dave's Pest Control committed the still living bats in the attic to die. The company subjected my family to an unhealthy situation with bats condemned to die to be in the attic creating toxic guano and subsequently health hazards associated with rotting bat corpses in the attic. The bats in the attic have since died because we no longer hear movement or scratching in the attic or walls. There are bat carcasses on the inside of both metal screens at the front and at the rear of the attics. The bats had been trying to escape when they died. They have since been rotting there. After the bats have died, we have seen a surge in flies around our house and what may be flea like bugs on the interior of the house which have been biting us and our children. We believe that these may be flea like bugs (sometimes referred to as and quot;bat bugsand quot;) that are from the dead bats in the attic. Additionally, there are now at least two bats living in the chimney connected to the oil furnace which were not there before Dave's Pest Control and R.MD. Services, Inc. performed the exclusion work. These bats are creating additional health hazards including bat guano collecting inside of the chimney. Furthermore, bats have found a new entry point high up on one of the walls of the barn where Dave's Pest Control and R.M.D. Services did not seal. There have been no changes to the structure of the barn. That entry point existed when Dave's Pest Control and R.M.D. Services performed their work. The companies did not seal that entry point enabling bats to find it and use it. There are now many bats back in the barn which my wife and I have witnessed exit the barn. Therefore, the exclusion services of Dave's Pest Control for the barn were inadequate and are ineffective. Their refusal to continue services per their one year warrantee for the exclusion services results in a continuation of the original problem with bats in the barn. I have since consulted with the Massachusetts Department of Health, the town of Brookfield public health representatives, and thus far informally with a representative of the Massachusetts Attorney General's office. I have not yet consulted with the local or state police department or the Department of Environmental Protection or other such agencies concerning the violation of protection laws for bats in Massachusetts or with the better business bureau or other such agencies. However, those are separate matters and in no way bear on this civil case or demands herein. Additionally, I have obtained verbal quotes from a hazardous waste clean-up company concerning costs with cleaning up the bat guano in the attic, another pest control company concerning costs for excluding the bats from the oil-furnace chimney and for excluding bats from the barn, and a chimney services company concerning costs for cleaning out the bat guano in the chimney and work necessary to perform that clean-up. The combined estimate for the work described above with the exception of excluding bats from the barn totals $1,950. The estimate for excluding bats from the barn is $1,200. These amounts do not include medical costs or other for myself, wife, and three children. The above constitutes damages that I have incurred as a result of Dave's Pest Control (including work performed by R.M.D. Services as a contractor for Dave's Pest Control). Therefore, I hereby demand the following relief from Dave's Pest Control: Payment of $3,150.
Description of Work: I had a horrible experience with this company and though I generally do not take the time to submit reviews, I believe that this experience warrants warning other potential buyers of this companies services to learn from my experience. Rather than re-telling the story, I have pasted in the contents of the "Demand for Relief" letter that I sent the owner of the company which is required by Massachusetts law prior to being able to take a company to small claims court. I split the letter into these sections "Please describe (in detail) the services performed" and "How did it go overall." The answer to "how did it go overall" is "truly awful!" Ok, here is the letter: Dave's Pest Control was hired to remove bats from the barn and exclude bats from entering both the barn and the house. Additionally, Dave's Pest Control was hired for their Guardian Protection Plan. Fred Powers of Dave's Pest Control inspected both the barn and the house and confirmed that evidence of bats was only in the barn and that there was no evidence of bats anywhere in the house. This included his statement that "There are no bats in the house." Mr. Powers stated that the exclusion work carries a one (1) year warrantee and that during that year they would come out to address any follow up issues related to the bat exclusion work for the barn and the house. He said that at the end of that year, I would have the option to pay 15% (I believe the percentage was 15) of the cost of the initial exclusion work to continue that warrantee beyond that initial year. Dave's Pest Control hired a sub-contractor R.M.D. Services, Inc. located at 75 Tower Hill Road, Brimfield, MA to assist them in performing the bat removal and exclusion work. The companies first entered the barn and disturbed the bats causing a very large number of them (R.M.D. Services estimated between 30 and 40; Mr. Powers estimated approximately 100) to exit the barn. Subsequently, the companies installed metal screens in the barn including in the copula and one of the windows. A metal screen was installed over a window at the ground level to an external structure outside of the basement of the house. Mr. Powers then stated that all bats were out of the barn and that they had completely sealed both the barn and house for the bat exclusion. Mr. Powers additionally performed services related to the Guardian Protection Plan including spraying bee hives and placing bait poison stations around the house and barn. In the evening of June 20, 2011, my wife and I heard for the first time, movement and scratching inside the attic and inside the walls of the house. I reported this to Dave's Pest Control the next morning. Mr. Powers came to the property and confirmed that there were new droppings below an entrance to the attic and stated that there had not been such droppings there before and that the bats are now in the attic. He reiterated that the bats had not been there before when he first came out for the exclusion work. Mr. Powers and R.M.D. Services came out again on or around June 23, 2011. They installed metal screens on each of four entrances to the attic. Mr. Powers stated that there were no bats inside the attic prior to the metal screens being installed and that there were no bats trapped inside following their attaching of the metal screens. One-way doors, which would have allowed any bats still inside to exit, were not installed in either the barn or the house. I later learned from other sources that installing one way doors is standard practice in bat exclusion work. I asked Mr. Powers and the two individuals of R.M.D. Services to install metal screens or other to prevent bats from entering the chimney. They all stated that bats would not enter the chimney due to the propane gases in one of the chimneys and the gases from the oil furnace connected to the other chimney. They stated that metal screens were therefore not necessary. That evening after Dave's Pest Control and R.M.D. Services left, my wife and I continued to hear movement and scratching from inside the attic and inside the walls. On Saturday, June 25, 2011, I hired a bat specialist to install three (3) bat houses, which I purchased from him, on trees on my property. On Sunday, June 27, I entered the barn and found two dead bats on the second floor of the barn. They had not been there before. Additionally, I saw a live bat on the ceiling of the barn. Also during the weekend, my wife and I witnessed bats moving along the inside of the metal screens to the attic at both the front of the house and the rear of the house. They were still alive. On Monday, June 27, 2011, I informed Dave's Pest Control again of live bats still being in the attic and the barn. Mr. Powers came out to the property again on June 28, 2011 and arrived while I was not at home but my wife was. He did not notify my wife that he was there. My wife witnessed Mr. Powers enter the barn (without permission), exit the barn and drop a dead bat next to the barn. My wife called to tell me this. At my request, my wife handed her cell phone to Mr. Powers. He initially told me that "there are no dead bats." I then told him that my wife witnessed him drop a dead bat next to the barn. He then admitted that he there indeed was a dead bat. I asked him not to leave the bat next to the barn. He stated that he does not remove and dispose of dead bats. The cell phone was returned to my wife who then went back inside the house. She then witnessed Mr. Powers throw the dead bat into bushes on the neighbor's property. I then called Mr. Power's cell phone and spoke with him. I asked him to at least move the dead bat from my neighbor's bush to bushes on my property such that it would be safe enough away from my three children (4 years old, 2 years old and 5 months old). Mr. Powers refused and said "removing dead bats from bushes is not part of my job description; if you want to take the bat from the bush be my guest. "Mr. Powers also stated that he identified an area at the front of the barn that might still allow bats to enter the barn and said that it needed to be sealed for the barn exclusion to be complete. However, Mr. Powers did not seal the exposed area and left it as it was thereby knowingly leaving the barn exclusion incomplete.

He initially took care of an ant problem I had in my home. I signed up with a year program for periodic visits. He then removed a wasp's nest from my home. I was pleased with his services. The price is fair.

Description of Work: We called Dave's Pest Control due to continuous mouse droppings found in drawers around our kitchen. They were able to come out within a day or two and showed up promptly as scheduled. We opted for the initial coverage + 3-4 week follow up. They put down many bait traps around the house along with sticky pads and said they would follow up in 3-4 weeks to refill bait and check status. Good news is the droppings stopped within a few days of the trap installation and have not returned. They did not follow up as advertised for the follow up treatment, though we did not call in to ask for it either, mainly because the mice are gone. We had tried home depot traps prior to having Dave's come with no success, so their stuff definitely works. Would have been nice to receive the follow up.

Dave's Pest Control was prompt, courteous, and efficient. What they did was effective. They came back out to check everything in about a month.
Description of Work: I hired Dave's Pest Control to come to my home for a mouse issue. They examined areas in each apartment that might have potential mouse issues. They put out bait traps, and offered suggestions on sealing areas to prevent future mouse issues.
