We decided over the summer to swap our old oil burner and electric hot water heater for a modern gas-fired heat and on-demand hot water system. Got an energy audit to qualify for a MA heat loan, and started getting quotes from plumbers. I talked to a couple of firms and got quotes but was not thrilled with their prices nor what they were offering. Then Gabriele showed up and spent a whole hour with me, looking at possible locations, discussing options, and making sure that our expectations would be met by what he was suggesting - he had done a number of systems like we wanted and was very familiar with the details. Several days later he presented me with a quote that was quite competitive with the other quotes I'd gotten, for exactly the kind of system we wanted; so I told him I wanted him to do the work. Then came the long process of setting up the gas line installation from the street, and getting the quote approved for the heat loan, applying for the loan, etc. - all of which took longer than anticipated and brought us to the busy period of late fall. By the time our loan came through Gabriele was very busy and not able to make our job his first priority, but he maintained contact and got to us as quickly as he could. The Navien combi boiler he installed is very nice - 94% efficient, elegant, compact, quiet and very effective. He did an excellent job, worked quickly, and kept things very organized and clean during the process. He took care of scheduling the series of required inspections and was here to meet the inspector so I didn't have to be; helped us deal with the gas company when it looked like there would be a delay getting the gas meter installed, and helped me with applying for the rebate on the unit he installed. Once the new system was running, he removed all traces of the old systems - oil burner, oil tank and its fill/vent pipes, and the electric hot water heater, leaving no trace. He also repaired a number of small problems in our plumbing as part of the job. All in all Gabriele was very pleasant and professional throughout the process, did good work, took care of all the details and gave us just what we wanted. We are very happy with the new system - it's a significant upgrade that makes our home much more comfortable to live in.
