Sent a deposit for work to be started. Called and emailed asking for date for work to begin. They would answer with a kind gentle voice. "Yes we will send you a date to start" was the answer they would give. Called more than ten times over 3 months, When threaten with asking for deposit back, again, they said we will send you a date. No other explanation given. Stay away from them!

Frustrated and unhappy. We scheduled an appointment for a review of the work we needed done. Our on-site contractor had already drawn out the plans, and had a wooden template ready with all measurements and angles written out. We made copies for Nino's Iron Works, but they insisted they needed to come out with their foreman to measure again for themselves. Fair enough. We scheduled a Thursday morning at 9am. That time passed, no call. In the afternoon, I called them, asking what happened, and was told their foreman was out sick (or the foreman's child, it wasn't clear), but they would be here the next morning (Friday). Friday came and went, no foreman, no phone call. I left several messages that were not answered. Finally they called and said they thought they could be here Monday morning. Again, no show, no phone call. I was getting pretty exasperated at this point, and wondering if I'd made the right decision hiring this company, as it seems their customer service needs some work. I got a call Monday afternoon assuring us that they would be here Tuesday (today) morning at 9am. Again, no show, no phone call. I called at 2:35, and the man I spoke to assured me they'd be here in a half an hour. I was very doubtful, as you can imagine, and so emphasized it: "You are saying you and your foreman will be here at or by 3:05?" and he said yes. At 3:17, still no show, and no phone call. Finally, he did call, saying they were 10 minutes away, and the GPS said they'd be there at 3:27. Too late. They seem very unreliable and seemingly incapable of calling when they can't make appointments. I cannot recommend this company. They may do very good work, I'll never know. I'd rather deal with a company who cares about promptness, communication, and reliability.
Description of Work: Initial measurements, review of work to be done.

We never met Nino or his staff. The work was agreed to through phone and email, with photos and measurements shared. It was a little difficult to get a hold of the company, but they were much more responsive than the other iron workers in the area, which is one of the two reasons we ultimately selected them (the other being price). We provided exact specifications for the project including design, materials, color and placement. For the front railing we got exactly what we asked for though the placement on the step was a little more inward than specified. I think they had place it where they did due to structural issues (can't drill a hole too close to the end of the stone tread) but am not sure. For the side railing we got exactly what we expected except the design was a bit different. We did call to ask about it, and understood that Nino felt that the provided design was closer to the style and feel of the house than what we selected. This is probably true, but would have appreciated to learn and discuss this ahead of time. All in all we are very happy with the work product and realize that meeting Nino might have helped either getting exactly what we wanted where we wanted, or reset our expectations. We would certainly use Nino's again for our ironwork needs.
Description of Work: Nino's built a front and side railing for our house based on photos / design concepts. One was about 120 inches and the other about 60 inches.

Competitive on price and offered a lovely design for my deck railings. It was then downhill from there. Install went poorly. They damaged the railings during the install, banging them up against my home to get them onto my deck. They are now rusting after just a few weeks post-install. I was assured by Nino the owner that the railings were going to be treated with two coats of rustoleum paint and minor touch ups "might" be needed in a few years. The company's responsiveness to address the rusting was poor. They kept delaying coming to fix the rust and when they arrived, the touch up job was not done well. There are now new pockets of rust appearing on the railings. Also, the areas that were painted for the touch ups are all bubbling. Separately, the window boxes brackets were a disaster. For starters their employee tried to do that business under the table, not through his employer (this is called "stealing") and at the same time try to get me to hire his wife as a housecleaner. This all happened during the initial railing install. While that was resolved through Nino, the window brackets arrived and installed. Sadly they were the wrong size (incorrectly measured by the employee) and also installed incorrectly by the new team that showed up. I am now faced with finding a new company to remove the existing brackets and make me new ones. I can not in good conscious recommend this outfit.

It didn't go well. They installed it incorrectly and they broke the door to my wooden gate. They are very attentive on the phone but I wouldn't recommend them.

Nino's offers outstanding prices and very good work. Now, in the past he has approached his work with a bit of an "old world" mindset, which can make things a little bit interesting. However now he has a new office manager who things seem to run things with more "new world" sensibilities. Either way, Nino is a good man running a respectable business, and his work and prices cannot be beat, and that's the bottom line. It's why we keep hiring him again and again, and plan to do so into the future.
