+ -1 moreMy wife and I were looking to replace all windows at our home, we started interviewing the potential companies, we were not satisfied with all companies we talked to, we called McKenna Brothers, Frank McKenna, came to the house to talk to us about the windows and to see the windows we wanted to replace, he was a very good man, respectful of our home, direct, honest, he gave us the price, and he explained in details the choices, and the timeframe of how long it will take, we were very satisfied with his presentation, very direct to the point, just like how I like it, then we put down the 30% deposit, we started with 7 windows, then 3 windows, and then the last 10 windows they just finished; the guys were very professional, respectful of our home when working, they did great work, and my wife and I are very happy for discovering this company, we recommend them to everyone who is looking for great windows replacement, they are hard workers, very professional, great price, good people. Because of the great service they performed, we decided to have our front door replaced by them, once again, Frank explained to us all the choices we have, the colors and everything, we are waiting for them to start working on the door once they receive the door in their shop. Anyone who is looking for windows replacement, I will recommend to consider McKenna Bros. Co. Description of Work: I had all my windows replaced at my house replaced totaling 20 windows, and we are having them replace the front door to my house as well, they have replaced all the windows, they did great job, very professionals, very polite, true gentlemen indeed, nice working with them. The cost was around $423.00 a window that is included materials and labor.

+ 0 moreReally well. We compared 3 different contractors and they came in with the best price. We paid for the materials (flooring, vanity, top, fixtures, fan, toilet and cabinet) so the price was $6600.00 primarily for their labor. The main contact Frank has run a few projects on our home - new portical, deck and now the bathroom. His team that works directly for him is great. They are very prompt, professional and very willing to work with you. The only reason I didn't give them an 'Excellent' across the board was the electrician that they subcontracted. He was late and delayed the job a day. He also didn't do a great job of cleaning up after himself.
Description of Work: remodeled bathroom - installed new flooring, trim, painted walls and installed vanity, lighting, cabinet, toilet and new heating lamp/fan.

Description of Work: We retained Frank and his crew to rebuild a living room closet that was destroyed as a result of water damage from a roof leak. His roofer quickly located the problem and fixed the leak's origin. Then his carpenter did a super job rebuilding the closet, even rehanging the closet organizer. They were polite, courteous and very clean. I would use them again and highly recommend them!

+ 0 moreFrom the time we called for an estimate, Frank came to the house and gave us individual estimates on a number of projects we asked him to look at. His prices were very fair. As soon as we agreed to have the work done, Frank had the doors ordered and the work was completed a week later. We had to wait a little while (2 weeks) to have the roof done, due to the weather. Once we were able to schedule a date, Frank's team got to our house by 8 am and finished the entire job by the end of the day. We could not have asked for a better company to work with.
Description of Work: Frank McKenna and the folks that work for him were extremely professional and friendly. We had 2 doors replaced, along with a new roof. The doors look great and the roof looks FABULOUS. My husband and I are extremely happy with the services that were done and we would highly recommend McKenna Brothers to anyone.

+ 0 moreInitial contact for roofing estimate was great. Very cordial and professional. Total lack of response on requests for attic door and door and deck work is unacceptable. We will not contact them for any other work.
Description of Work: We initially contacted the company for roofing and gutter estimates around June 2012. We were able to get an appointment very quickly. Frank McKenna came to the house to look at the roof and gutters. I explained that we were going to get other estimates as well and that we wanted the gutter estimate separate from the roof estimate. Frank was friendly and didn't seem to have a problem with that. He said that he would not keep calling for a decision. He either gets the job or he doesn't. He left some materials and in a few days we received the estimates. The estimate was the lowest of all that we received. However, we did not go with McKenna, because we decided that we wanted GAF shingles instead of Certainteed, which is what McKenna installs. We also decided to hold off on the gutters. We contacted McKenna around February 2012 for an attic door replacement. We contacted McKenna, because one of our neighbors was very pleased with the work that they did on her roof, patio door and windows. We wanted the attic door replaced then. Our initial request was via email just for the attic door. We didn't know if they did that type of work, but asked that they did not do that work could they recommend someone. We did not receive a response. We followed up after a week or so and with that request also asked if they could give a rough estimate for a patio door and some deck work. We had not asked initially about the door and deck work, because we thought we could just bring it up when they came for the attic door, or would ask separately if they didn't do attic doors. We explained that we didn't want the work done then, but wanted an idea of what we were looking at. We didn't explain why we didn't want the door and deck work done mid-winter, but figured that when they came to take a look we would discuss scheduling for the spring. No response. Figuring that contractors are generally bad about responses and we just got lucky in June, we decided to try one more time. Instead of using email again, we used the appointment request option on their website. No response.

+ -1 moreJob went very well.....We had to wait a week or so for the vinyl siding + windows to come in. The men were very respectful and neat and completed the job without any hitches. My husband called a few times to review a few things and he always was very happy with the input from the owner. The attention to detail was very impressive....
Description of Work: We have a two story house that had shingles that were buckling & in need of repair. We were originally going to repaint the house and decided to get quotes for re-painting and for siding. We got 2 quotes for painting and 2 quotes for siding. Although the siding was considerably more expensive than painting, we decided that the "permanence" of siding made more sense. The scope of the project included renailing any existing wood shingles, replacing any pieces that were rotten, install vinyl siding over insulation, cover all overhaning areas , custom clad window sills, etc etc and clean up. The job also included replacing porch jalosie windows with new windos for our 3 seasons room.

+ -1 moreI spent $8000 for the windows and labor. They had the windows shipped here. They took out all the old windows. Then they disposed off the rubbish and installed the new windows. It took them two days. The service went very well. They are honest and they deliver what they say. If they say they are going to be there on the 15th, then they are there on the 15th. The manufacturer of the windows recommended them. It was a very straightforward installation. I had no problems with them. They didn’t do anything extraordinary, but they didn’t mess up either. They were good. I have nothing to compare their price to.

+ 0 moreI felt like they just wanted to sell me an expensive job rather then take on a small job. I would like to get a contractor to try caulking the gutters to see if that works before I spend a lot of $ on new. Looks like I'll have to do this job by myself.
Description of Work: I called this company to ask them to caulk my gutters because they have a few leaks. The contractor never came to the phone but the receptionist told me that caulk won't work "you need new gutters." I would have felt better if the contractor at least came to the phone himself and elaborate why I need to replace my gutters which aren't really that old. It would have been even better if he came made an appointment to look at my problem but nope, there was no offer to do that either.

+ 1 moreThis is my THIRD experience with McKenna Brothers. Overall, my experience has been positive. My first experience was ten years ago and it was to install 20 Harvey replacement windows. It was an eye opening experience. I had a difficult time getting a return to my phone calls to schedule the estimate. Once that was over, everthing else went smoothly. My second experience was to install 10 additional Harvey windows and it was deja vu; similar issues with contact but the end result went smoothly. My last experience was much better. From initial contact to quote, start and finish, it went very well. My guess is it has something to do with the poor economy so they have more time to respond. Like any smart consumer, do your homework first then compare product to be used, cost to install, warranty and customer service. McKenna Brothers uses Harvey products for both window and siding. Harvey products are first quality. I will be remodeling my existing finished basement space and will have McKenna Brothers quote it because I am comfortable using them and have a history with them at this time.
Description of Work: Installed vinyl siding, new gutters, downspouts, garage door and electric door opener.

Description of Work: We contacted them about residing our building and replacing decking after water damage during heavy rains in March. They explained they were very busy with recent flooding in the Quincy area where they are located, but stated they could come out in 5 weeks for an estimate. Based on the positive reviews, I agreed and set date for April 21st. I called the day before to verify appt since it had been such a long time and the woman who answered the phone stated her husband had me on his calendar. The next day no one showed or called. I called and left a message and never heard anything back.
