Mike presented as a pleasant, low key guy, which I liked, however I was disappointed in lack of thoroughness and little information. Mike used up a good amount of his 2 1/2 hours writing the final report on the spot, which was nice to have in hand, however I would have preferred and expected a closer look at the house. Mike was quick to underestimate the amount of wood rot on the exterior (wood siding and windows). Because I decided to check out the windows myself, Mike did not bother to look at the windows. He asked me of the windows condition instead. Mike steered me in the direction to consider updating all the windows and siding someday with non-wood materials if we live here a long time. However he stated these were "not urgent big ticket" items. For the short term he recommended painting the exterior soon. Well, a slightly closer look has revealed extensive wood rot in numerous window wells and behind loose gutters after purchasing the house. It is clear a lot of water has entered the walls and painting the house would be a waste of time and money. Additionally, Mike did not bother inspecting the sump pump, turn on the heat or look at the hot water tank since the tank was hidden behind a panel secured with only 4 screws. Mike was diplomatic and quite friendly with the seller's agent which was also not helpful for negotiating.

Mike was fast and had excellent communication, both by email and text. He was able to accommodate our need for an inspection quickly, and was available on a Sunday. He identified a number of items I had suspected and a couple I didn't, like some leftover asbestos on basement pipes and structural issues in the garage. His report was handed to me on the spot. We were able to negotiate several fixes and a credit at closing based on the list of recommended repairs. Should I need a home inspection in the area again, I will be calling back.

Everything went well. No problems. He was very professional and easy to deal with. I had no trouble getting an appointment. My appointment was the Monday after my first contact (~4 days). It's a new place so the inspection was relatively painless but he managed to find a very minor electrical issue. He seemed very thorough. Would definitely recommend/hire again.

Mike was very professional and the inspection he provided was very thorough. He revealed many deficiencies in the home that we were not aware of and saved us a good deal of money by giving us the information we needed. We would gladly hire him again in the future for another inspection the next time we are buying a house. 10/10

I have had better home inspections for sure, maybe it was an off day.

Mike was very thorough in his inspection, spending 2.5 hours total. Aside from identifying damages done by termite, he made good calls on structural/foundation issues, recommending we seek further advice from a structural engineer, which we did. The structural engineer confirmed Mike's observations, such as irregularly erected posts, strange above-ground french drain, foundation bowing and cracks. Although this is the first time we went through a house inspection, I felt like he was thorough, even elaborating on energy efficiency measures I was interested in which was beyond the scope of his obligation to inspect, but as he happened to be trained on it, was happy to share the knowledge. He also explained all his findings in layman's terms, so we understood the magnitude of what we were looking at. I am told some inspectors might be afraid to say negative things about a house so that they ingratiate themselves with a broker, but he was clear about what needed work. This gives us a clearer understanding on how to assess homes in future.
