Peter Conneely took $1000 as a deposit in May 2023 to repair our chimney flue and he never came back. We called many times and when we reached him he made one excuse after another as to why he hadn’t come to repair the flue, i.e., busy, covid, etc. Now he does not respond at all.

Peter was highly recommended to us by a friend to fix my mother's front steps. He did the brick work on the stairs which was well done but once the brick work was completed on 12/29/22, he took her railings to a third party to be fixed. We were told he would re-install them after the bottom of the rails were re- welded by a trusted third party. He never returned the rails or reinstalled them. We have contacted him numerous times via phone and text over the past 7 months and he either does not respond or gives us excuse after excuse as to why he hasn't completed the job. We now have to hire another person to finish the job he that he was paid to complete. My mother has been unable to use her front steps this entire time.

We agreed to meet at my house on !0/21/15 at noon. Mr. Conneely never showed up or called. I called him and again I made an appointment for Saturday afternoon on the 24th. I was to call him after I finished playing golf and we would set a time for that day. He never answered my numerous calls. I finally reached him the next day and without making any attempt at explaining why he did not show up he agreed to meet me on Tuesday the 27th (yesterday) at about four. He never called and never showed up. He has not returned my numerous calls. I trust and use Angie's list frequently and frankly there is no way this company should even be listed. I went out of my way fay for him missing work and wasting my time. This is wrong.

Overall from the time we reached out for a quote to the end of the project all went smoothly. We dealt directly with the owner who was on site doing the work every day. He brought excellent ideas and really went above and beyond to do a complete job. All work was discussed up front and done completely. It was one of the smoothest projects we have done to our house.
Description of Work: Replaced front walkway and three sets of stairs. Project included new brick and granite steps to the house, brick and granite steps tied into a stone wall, set of granite steps free standing, paver path and a section of path that was granite. The contractor also did the demolition of the previous path and ran conduit under the pathway for a post light.

The project started well but the finished product was not satisfactory. First of all, there were cracks in the driveway. He put in a trench but it was the wrong size. In August of 2011 he told me that he had ordered the french trench and was going to install it. He removed the tops of the french trench that was installed incorrectly which now collecting leaves that I have to clean. Now my garage has been flooded which has caused cracking in the cement at the garage doors. I paid him in cash October 15,2010. I am very disappointed that he did not follow through and come back to my home and correct the errors that he made. I have contacted them numerous times and he is yet to return any of my calls. I have had compliments on the wall from two neighbors but I told them I would never hire or recommend him again.
Description of Work: He was to replace a stone wall that took three times for the wall to be completed correctly. He was also going to install an all concrete driveway and a french trench.

$8,000

Response from Aran Islands Masonry
Few months if weather is good." Counter offer: "First of all the price was $15,500 not $8,000. She owes us $7,500 we did not get paid. I replace a concrete wall not a stone wall and we finish it once. Second we finish a concrete driveway and french drain and then we didn't get paid. A month later she called that driveway cracked and french drain wasn't working right. We fix the french drain and did not get paid that time. Then I call a company to come in to cut driveway because we need a big saw so I need the money to come in and do the work. So is she willing to pay some money to fix driveway I went there 3 times its costing me money she never ask us did I want the money.

Description of Work: Rebuilt a brick wall (2 sides) to our existing terrace. Based on the craftsmanship and professionalism we found, we also had several other projects completed by Aran Islands. They put in a new stone walled, semi circle garden, a new landing at the base of our deck stairs and repaired walkway cement stairs. Also re pointed some of our pudding stone foundation walls and replaced a lintel at the top of a foundation window. I would use them again without hesitation. They were prompt and easy to work with. Highly recommended,

We had a bluestone stairway that had cracked due to a shifting concrete/ stone veneer wall. We had a sinking concrete walkway we wanted changed to pavers, a stoop that needed to be re-set and properly valanced away from the house. Also a drain pipe from a gutter needed relocation (which involved a trench) and lastly some shoring up of the tipping wall. A crew of four had the old concrete walk gone in about a half hour! The total job took 2-day and the pavers required a lot of cuts as the walk curves. The work looks like artistry rather than labor. Pete actually replaced all of the old bluestone on he stoop even though it was not part of the spec. He refused to accept added payment even though this cot him more. Well pleased and will use him again!
Description of Work: Peter was exceptional. Prompt and delivered all promised and even did some extras we were not expecting!

They did a great job. The job was tricky because the wall had a curve at the top. We have a 1930's brick Tudor style house, so the curve of the wall was part of the character of the house. It was also at the front of the house, so it is very visible. We needed two feet added to the height of the wall, but wanted to maintain the curve in keeping with the style of the house. They did exactly what we needed them to do. The wall looks great & blends right in with the lines of the house.
Description of Work: They repointed and added several feet to a pre-existing decorative brick wall.

They were on time. They took exactly 2 days like they said. They cleaned up afterwards. They didn't try to sell me services I didn't need. They quoted me the fairest price I had seen. It was excellent, and I would highly recommend them. He also was very kind in assisting me when a roofing contractor abandoned me. He referred me to the roofing contractor I'm using now.
Description of Work: They redid some stairs. It was a combination of brick and granite. They also fixed our chimney.

Peter responded and met me on the same day I called. He emailed a proposal within a day or two. I didn't use Peter because his proposal was too upscale for rear steps and it would have made the front steps look awful by contrast. His proposal would have been fine for front steps but I really only wanted the back to be repaired along the same lines as what was currently there.
Description of Work: Steps were crumbling and needed replacement or repair. They were concrete based with tiled landings.

Peter responded to our call right away and was able to come out for an estimate that night. We talked about what we were looking for and he was able to make some suggestions. Once we decided to go with him, we were able to set up a date for installation for the date we wanted. The installation was fast and the stone looks great. When I told him about the damper he came back later that day to fix it. We are very pleased with this company's work. Peter was great to deal with, professional and very polite.

This was a large and messy job. It involved about two weeks of just grinding each joint out by hand down to 3/4 to an inch. 2 to 3 men a day worked on scaffolding. They worked on Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Peter Conneely, the owner was incredibly hard working, professional and honest. When we collected estimates on the job, Peter was actually the highest. But, his references were excellent and was not intimidated at all by the job.
