Mr. Devine received half the money up front and finished less than half the job. It took numerous phone calls to get him out to the house to do just small amounts of work. He would usually spend an hour at a time. He finally stopped responding to my phone calls. I brought him to small claims court and won my case before the judge. Mr. Devine then filed for bankruptcy and was relieved of all his responsibilities to all his creditors. Two days after receiving the bankruptcy letter from his lawyer, Mr. Devine started showing up at the gym that I belong to which is the most expensive gym in town. Just two days after bankruptcy!

Overall, the contractor seldom showed up to work at all on the house. When he did work, he started after 8:30 AM, usually at 10:00 AM and left by 4:00 PM. Contractor stated he would bring lift in to properly sand and paint house. Contractor brought lift in once and never again. Consequently, areas on the front and one side he did attempt to finish were not sanded. Contractor was told not to paint back room that was added on since the shakes were new and had been stained. Painter painted the new shakes ruining them for stain and also spray painted and ruined one window. Contractor further left residue from the paint that he sanded all over the ground and driveway with little attempt to clean up. The back one side of the house have been sanded and exposed to the elements all winter. This contractor never met a deadline he set for himself notwithstanding the overall deadline of having the exterior of the house painted within five months of signing a contract and a down payment.
