He was responsive and courteous at the start. Once it became time to begin the job, the communication was lacking. For various reasons, the work began over a week late, but we had to call him every morning to find out if he was going to show up Of the 14 doors, 6 of them have issues--misaligned hinges, but the screws are stripped which complicates replacing them; bottom of a door scratching the hardwood floor; door not latching; screws missing from hinges; chipped wood around the hinges and strike plates on the door jams. After the first real day of work, we let him know that our bathroom door would not close (which isn't a room where you want to leave the door open). He came 3 business days later to resume work--and didn't fix the bathroom door for another 2 days after that. When he shaved the bottom of the door, he didn't take it off the hinges, so the linoleum under that door is shredded and the bottom of the door now has a serrated edge. He included painting the doors in his estimate, but told us after the first day of painting that he didn't normally paint. The quality shows, and we've begun repainting all of the doors ourselves. We attempted to sand a few of the doors that are a bit snug, and realized that the problems are beyond our skill level (without potentially damaging the doors further), so we're now seeking estimates to have 6 of the doors rehung correctly.
