They stole our money! JDL was hired by the builder for all lots in our development for lawn installation including hydroseeding and irrigation system installation. The builders $$ was responsible for the hydroseeding and irrigation system installation in the front lawn. We paid an additional $1000 directly to JDL to install irrigation system for our back yard. After the first hydroseed treatment (June 2102), we received a bill from JDL for a fertilizer treatment plan costing $400. We sent them the check and they cashed it. Unfortunately our lawn (along with all other properties hydroseeded at the same time) did not grow. During this time we were using our irrigation system and noticed that there seemed to be fairly low pressure especially at the points furthest from the water source. We asked JDL about this and they looked into it and said the wrong nozzles had been installed and they replaced them. After discussions with the builder, JDL came out and hydroseeded again and again the grass did not grow. A third hydroseed was eventually performed and did not grow very well. Because of the grass not taking, the fertilizer treatments were not performed. Since it was becoming fall and grass growing season was coming to a close, we just figured we'd wait until spring to see what would be done (along with our neighbors). Spring 2013 came and we were informed by our builder that we needed to try and take care of the lawns ourselves and they would be looking into the situation. We tried contacting JDL on numerous occassions to determine the status of our fertilizer plan since they did not perform it last year. My husband left many messages and on the few occassions the call was answered he was told "they would look into it". On one occassion they promised they would call him in 1 hour, and of course there was no call. After a few months we finally realized they were not going to discuss the matter with us and we just wanted out $$ back. Additional messages were left to no avail. During this time we had another landscape company come out and perfrom some irrigation system work. We were told that our exterior system box was built completely wrong. One screw was broken off and the valves were stacked upon each other so that access to the bottom valves was almost impossible. They also noticed that the wrong nozzles were installed and they changed them for us. The zone furthest from the water source had 7 heads attached and the last one in the line never even popped out of the ground due to not enough pressure. We paid another company to fix the issues with the heads and pressure, but have not fixed the valve box issue as it would cost even more $$. Because we received no response from JDL, we contacted the BBB and put in a complaint. JDL was supposed to respond in 30 days but did not. We contacted the BBB and they recommended we start working on a 30 day demand letter followed by sueing in small claims court if not responded to. DO NOT HIRE!!!!!

Work quality was poor.1. Asked for and paid for specialized interior paint job- contractor worker "guessed" at application2. Asked for and paid for staking out of property lines. Contractor worker used county plot, and used it incorrectly. It was minimum 10 feet off, so we have to redo it. Waste of the $250.3. Asked for and paid for chandelier to be hung in dining room, to replace existing chandelier. Workmanship was shoddy. Light stopped working. We had to have another electrician come in to do the same job. The new electrician said the job was so bad, it looked like a "diy" job. 4. Asked for an paid for interior french doors to be finished and stained. Shoddy job, We must pay someone else to redo it, so it looks nice. On the same door, the hardware was shaped in a curved shape. On one side of the door, the contractor carved a curved shape into the word for the hardware, on the other door, he carved a square shape. we had to buy new square shaped hardware (what I did not want) in order for the door to look better. Hinges were also set incorrectly.i contacted the owner, John, of JDL, about my concerns and he never replied.
