BC HARDWOOD FLOORS

He doesn't have a showroom. His name is Bryan Cranston. The price was really good and we got what we paid for. The process was fine. He was occasionally difficult to get hold of. He was usually pretty friendly and showed up when he said he was going to. The whole process seemed relatively unorganized but it wasn't bad. I wasn't in a huge hurry. I didn't have a very strict deadline myself. Under different circumstances it might have been really annoying but it wasn't for me, I guess. They were very friendly and did a pretty good enough job given that our floors were in a horrible state prior to the refinish job. The floors are certainly much better than they were. We really had to get it done because the floors were in danger of being significantly damaged just by normal use. The varnish was coming off. If I had had more money, I would have probably gone with somebody better. I didn't know this going in. The tack job wasn't very good because there are hairs that I can see embedded in the varnish. There are a couple of spots where they were very sloppy with the finish of the varnish. At the same time we were on a really strict budget and for what we really needed, it was fine. The price was good. The guy who owns it was very professional. Although the guys who did the work were very nice, there was one particular incident that appears problematic to me. When they finished the job overall, they had to lay down new thresholds. While they were pulling out of my driveway, I was looking at the threshold job and they had broken a piece of it and left a huge shard on top of my countertop so I could see it. I don't know how they could have forgotten to say something to me because it left a very sharp edge and I have a toddler running around the house. I immediately called the owner and he called me back and told me that the workers knew what I was talking about. I think they intended to leave and hope I didn't notice. Up until that point I thought the workers were very friendly and polite and were doing a great job, but that incident really left a lasting impression for me. After they left I started finding embedded hairs and I felt that their tack job was lousy. I wouldn't hire them back. I would just spend more money next time. I know more now than I did then. I knew that I was getting what I paid for and the floors look nice overall.

Bob came on time and provided a free estimate. I called him 2 months later to do the work and he showed up exactly on time. He and his assistant sanded, scraped and patched nail holes and defects in the floors and stairs, and repaired two major problems with the floor in the living room(one area was buckled and another had a hole and stains from a radiator). The first day was all sanding and patching, the second day they completed the preparation and applied 2 coats, and the third day they touched up/ repaired small areas, buffed the floor, cleaned it and applied the topcoat. The floors look great! Bob is very knowledgeable and easy to deal with. I don't hesitate to recommend him for any wood floor project you might have.
