I called and made an appt. for a representative to come out and give us an estimate on converting our home system from oil to natural gas. The representative came out, did what he had to do and left saying he would get back to us with the quote. A week went by and I emailed them requesting the quotation. I received no response. A week later I called and spoke with the person who was here and he said he would get it to me the following day. That was a few weeks ago. I never received anything. How good can they be if they're unresponsive to prospective customers?

I called Macfarland Energy around 7:30 am on 3/11/13 hoping to have someone service my gas furnace. We woke up around 5:30 am that morning and the furnace wouldn't fire up and we smelled gas. I contacted the local gas company to report the gas leak. They responded and informed me that I needed an ignition switch for the furnace. The first company I called wouldn't be able to respond until the next day and stated a labor rate of $165 for the 1st hour and $145 each additional hour plus parts. They suggested I try to find someone who might be available sooner and to call back if I couldn't find anyone who could respond sooner. I called MacFarland and explained my situation. They had a serviceman available who could respond between 10:00 am - 2:00 pm on 3/11/13. They quoted a service rate of $125 per hour plus the cost of parts. They respnded by 2:00 pm as promised, checked my furnace and replaced the ignitor switch. The house now had heat and I was very happy I was able to get the furnace repaired that day. I did some research on Angie's list and decided to try a couple of the reccomended companies; MacFarland was available, prompt, reasonably priced and resolved the problem. I've been looking for a compamny to service the furnace on a regualr basis, now I have one.

Overall, the service is excellent. They are very good and I would highly recommend them. Their service and their responsiveness is also excellent.

They are extremely reliable. Their service men are courteous and polite. They are very responsive. If you need something done, they will get it done immediately. They do offer different service contracts.

They are a not notch, completely honest company; which was not true with many oil companies. They post their price per gallon on their website at all times. I can now go to a government website in Massachusetts to compare prices and know they are giving us a very fair price. We have only had good things come from them. In the spring they will come to service our furnace. Right now we are very happy with their service.

They have been working for me for about 10-15 years. Their quality is good, but they are expensive. They have always been extremely reliable if I ever have any problems.

Their customer service has been very good. They are very responsive to request and ad hoc needs. They came right away when I needed them. I did use them with my previous house. I had a situation where my air conditioner went off and needed a part that was missing. They came right away. Some of the people have been very good. I had one time when an employee came who wasn’t so good, so they aren’t always 100%.

They finally installed gas on my street. We were already customers of MacFarlane Energy and decided to hire them to do the conversion. It did take a while to receive the initial quote. The crew arrived promptly every day and were professional and courteous. Jimmy (the foreman) explained things clearly and answered all questions I had. The crew did an excellent installation and cleaned the site pretty well on the last day. Our install was straight forward so no major problems were encountered. Everything looks neat and organized. It was a job well done and we are enjoying our gas heat. So far so great!

They were consistently very good: very responsive, and always seemed to be able to effectively fix whatever was wrong. It did strike me that they did charge a whole lot for the air conditioner service.

The folks at MacFarlane couldn't have been more professional and helpful with my furnace replacement. Their price was competitive, their install guys were fabulous, and they were very accommodating and helpful with applying for rebates and the MassSave Heat Loan Program. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for furnace work and/or oil deliveries

Air conditioner was not working. Serviceman took one look at it and identified the problem. Had the part in his truck and proceeded to fix the air conditioner. Very happy!!!

It took over a week to get a quote, and that only after I emailed to remind them. They didn't seem particularly interested in the job, and, of course, we went with someone else.

We have had Mac Farlane for over 40 years handling all of our oil heating needs including excellent 24/7 service 365 days of the year. When our a/c supplier was unreachable we were in a quandary as to who to call. When we realized that MacFarlane also sells and services A/C we were delighted. Now it is just one stop shopping for all of our heating/AC needs. They sent a wonderful service person who was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions much better than the original AC provider.
