Although when I called and made the appointment, I said that I wanted a light fixture and a dimmer switch installed, the two guys who came did not have the dimmer switch installation on their schedule. So the young man explained that this was a larger job than he expected and since there was two of them there (because their second job would require two people), that the two of them would do this job and perhaps it would only take an hour but the price would be higher for two men. The price for two men was different than the price I was quoted and I didn't quite understand why it was a two man job and I didn't understand why two men made the job go that much faster. It took about an hour and a half. While the young men were nice and did a nice job installing and cleaning up, in the end I felt cheated out of about $100-$150. I think the issue was that the first person I spoke to on the phone, perhaps John Vespa, knew that I needed BOTH the fixture and the dimmer switch installed but didn't ask whether I needed the line from the fixture to the dimmer installed and so didn't put that in the directions. If it was going to be a two man job, he shouldn't have quoted me $150 for the first hour and $99 for every additional hour when I spoke to him on the phone. If those reading this review think it is reasonable to charge $350 to install a light fixture and to run a line from the fixture to the dimmer switch (which I had purchased in advance), then you should call this company because everything else was fine. But if you agree that this is too high a price, then try someone else.

Went smoothly, rust found in circuit breakers when main electric line was replaced a few months ago and inspector recommended replacing panel. Great crew, very punctual and neat, all skilled and congenial. I got an excellent price and Angie's list discount on top of it. Could not recommend enough. Thank you!

My neighbor recommended John Vespa Electrical Contractors as one of the best electricians she has ever worked with, and since I was having trouble getting our electrician to find time for us, I thought I would give them a try. WOW - my neighbor was right. I will never use anyone else. I cannot say enough good things about this family business -- Dad, three sons, and Mom does the books. Phil, John's oldest son, who is also a Master Electrician arrived with Eric, the youngest brother, an apprentice), on time. They set to work immediately on what was a complicated job snaking cable from one end of our house to the other --up to the attic, down to the basement and then back up to the first floor on the other side of the house. They were smart in how they figured out the route, they didn't make a mess, and what mess they did make, they cleaned up immediately. The job was neat, organized and well done. John and his team did a fantastic job. I was none too pleased when I found out I needed to get my entire house rewired a month after purchasing it. John gave me a fair estimate - lower than others I received. All wiring was redone, and run into a new 200 amp panel. They also installed two exterior outlets and cleaned up the service wiring. I was concerned about living in my house while the work was being done - the mess! But, to my great surprise, the mess was minimal. They cleaned up after themselves each night - I never lost power in any room while they were doing the rewiring. They called to update me on the progress each day. I couldn't ask for anything more. I'm very happy with the end result - they did a fantastic job. I will not hesitate to use John and his team again - and will make sure I refer them to friends and family.

Everything went well and smoothly. This is a family operation and all three sons of John Vespa (one a master electrician, one a journeyman and one an apprentice) worked at our house at different times, with John providing oversight. The young men are skilled, professional, respectful and cheerful. Clean-up was very good. The crew was punctual; the work started on the day scheduled and finished on time and on budget. The crew showed up as scheduled. They reviewed the work I requested before starting, then went right to it. There were a few unexpected issues due to improper wiring done by previous homeowner, but the guys explained the issues in detail and provided me a few options to address them. They left the space extremely clean when they were finished and made sure that I had the opportunity to fully inspect the work before they left.

Everything went so well from the scheduling to the completion of the work. This is the third time we have hired John Vespa Electrical Contractors - twice when we were doing work on our former house to get it ready to sell and this time at our new house taking care of suggestions from our inspector and having upgrades done to make it more convenient in our home. Finula, John, Phil and Dan were so pleasant and professional. They set up our work in a timely manner, John came to give us a reasonable estimate at the same time giving us helpful suggestions. In this most recent job Phil and his brother Dan did an excellent job, letting us know helpful information regarding the status of our work being done. When I told Phil that our smoke detector had gone off for seemingly no reason the night before, he suggested we may want to replace it. I got one while he was there and he replaced it at no extra charge. They were all so polite and unobtrusive doing their work. They had a lot of work to do and stayed focused on it all during the time at our home. They completed the work in a day and a half. We are so happy to have some lights in the back yard for when we are out with the dog. And yes, Phil, the lights do cover most of the yard which is great! The house was built in 1935 and did not have many outlets. Now it will be so much more convenient for additional lamps, and safe for us with the new GFCI outlets for our appliances. Phil and Dan also discovered that the main service was falling off the house because the wrong size screws had been used to hold it up. They put additional clips on for the future. Overall, it has been a wonderful experience working with this family business. There is also another son learning the family business. These people are great, and we feel fortunate to have found them as our new electricians!

overall, I think Phil was excellent. He provided a lot of education. I will definitely use him in the future. you did some extra work for me that he did not charge for. Phil is the owner's son.

When the switch (on an old dimmer) for my dining room chandelier stopped working I went to Home Depot to ask someone in the electrical dept. for advice. The fellow who helped me said replacing the dimmer switch should fix the problem. Since my last experience with an electrician was horrendous (charged me double the quoted hourly rate because, unbeknownst to me, he brought a "helper" with him and marked up the materials more than 500%) I was hoping this was a simple DIY project that my husband could handle. He said it's a simple job - 10 min. or so - IF you know what you're doing. We don't so, to be on the safe side, I checked Angie's List. I called John Vespa Electrical and left a message. Later that day John called me back to see what it was I needed and was clear upfront that he charges $149 for the first hour. I appreciated the fact that he suggested I think of any other small items I might like fixed during that hour and that I purchase the materials myself to save both time and money. His assistant called the next day to schedule an appt. and go over what I wanted done and what materials I would need to buy. As promised, John called to give me a 30 min. "heads up" before arriving. Once in the door he worked non-stop, replacing not only the dining room dimmer switch but also another in the kitchen and converted an old 2-prong outlet above my kitchen counter with an up-to-code GFCI 3-pronged outlet to accommodate my new stand mixer. When that was complete John checked his watch and declared "Ok, you've got 15 min. left. Anything else?" I showed him an upstairs hall light that I haven't been able to operate from downstairs without making sure the toggle switch in the upstairs hall was in the "up" position - a nuisance I've become accustomed to over the last 24 years. He took a look, corrected the wiring. Now I can turn the light on/off from either floor at any time! Very pleased with John Vespa's work and professionalism! Will not hesitate to hire him again and recommend him to others.

John's quote was very fair, he was 100% upfront on the cost and explained the job in great detail. Dan and his assistant arrived 5 min early. These guys are always the utmost professionals, they installed the switch and outdoor receptical and then walked me through on how to operate my generator and the new panel. Great work as always. Using Vespa is a no brainer.

The bathroom lights weren't working properly and would even blink every so often. Polite and personable young man came earlier than scheduled (with a 30 min heads-up). I told him before he started his inspection that I was leery of the vanity lights we had and wanted new ones. I gave him a description of what I wanted and he asked me further detailed questions and giving me an estimate before he headed out to Home Depot, a short drive away. He returned with the new vanity fixture and lights, but I had to have him wait as my elderly mother needed assistance. He used the time to get other items from his truck which he would need. He soon had the old fixture out and new one in. He explained what he had done, and I was happy with his work and having the new fixture up and working. Very happy with the work done.

A leak into the service panel had caused one of the more sensitive breakers to malfunction. This was the second time it had happened, with the first breaker being replaced by another electrician (which cost as a new breaker). John's assessment that a cable from outside caused the leak seems to be accurate. He sealed the cable entrance (a job that the cable guy should have done!) with putty and it's been 10 months now and so far so good. He also ascertained that the breakers (current and previous one replaced) were not damaged. As soon as they were dry, they functioned normally.

John Vespa and his crew were excellent. It was not an easy job for them as there was a ton of rock below our soil and it was a fairly hot day. They did not complain, add to the cost etc. They completed the job in a timely manner as well as cleaned up after themselves completely! I am planning on using them again in the future and would highly recommend them!

Called and left a message. Heard back from assistant the next day to schedule appointment and was told pricing structure. John called about 20 minutes before arriving to let me know he was on his way. Got right to work and found the problem. Replaced broken outdoor outlet, taped it up nicely and put it back together. Was here about 10 minutes. Only complaint is you pay for an hour's worth of work at $149 no matter what. I should have had him take care of some other small issues while he was here. Lesson learned.

Work itself was great. I have used Vespa several times including wiring a complete 2 story addition. They completed this rewire without damaging wall, which was appreciated. However, the time and cost were excessive for this small job. When I questioned Mr Vespa about the price, he became very defensive and argumentative. Since he has no appreciation for customer loyalty, I will be using another electrician in the future.

They were SO easy to work with! I had a previous electrician who couldn't figure out the problem, but this guy fixed it in about two minutes. And he was super polite and friendly as well. I will definitely call this company again when I need more electrical help.

His company is my go-to electrical company at this point because he’s so reliable and professional. His wife, who answers the phone, is pleasant to deal with, and his sons that also come out are all professional and do things in a timely manner.

Paul, John's son, arrived on time and with a partner. They were polite, professional, clean, respectful and thorough. They did a great job. They came on a last minute call, so there was no estimate and it was by the hour and slightly more expensive, but I cannot complain about that. These guys are very good at what they do. I cannot recommend them highly enough. They did a great job patching the wall, cleaned up after themselves, and improved the quality of our lives by their service. It is nice to know they are there and can be trusted. It is hard to find good help nowadays.

John was punctual to provide an estimate and was easy to arrange a date for the work. He arrived on time, performed all contracted services, and left the premises broom clean. Simple, easy, and affordable, Turns out the existing fan was one that required a duct, thought here was never a duct! Electrician installed a recirculating one and a new oight switch, everything works to perfection and I did not have to pay a ton.
