Why did they hire the lady if John Vespa himself knows all the schedules? They practically wasted my time waiting for their calls.
Description of Work: I scheduled for a service call to fix one outlet about 2 weeks ago. The lady who did the scheduling was nice. A week before the scheduled call, John Vespa called and left a message saying that he did not do estimate for an outlet. I called them back the day after and spoke to the Lady. Basically, they thought I wanted a estimate. I told them lets just do a service call. The lady told me that John only did estimate (???) on Friday so I had to reschedule. She told me that they WILL call me regarding the new schedule. She told me that John knows the schedule (???). I waited and waited until now. They wasted 2 weeks of my time. If you didn't want to do the job, then please tell me outright. Time is money. I could have called other guys to do it! I am very disappointed.

Response from John Vespa Electrical Contractor LLC
We received a call from the above customer requesting an estimate not a service call to repair outlets.we scheduled an estimate but after reviewing the scope of the job we determined that he actually needed a service call. We called him and we wrote up a service work order and told him the job would be scheduled within the next few weeks and that he would hear from us when we had an opening. He seemed happy with this . We called him to schedule on the 5th of august not knowing that he had posted a complaint and he hung up the phone. We feel we acted professionally, perhaps he was just having a bad day.

We needed to comply with fire codes for a condo conversion. It is very stressful to have holes cut in almost ever ceiling because this is an older home. Work was done with no damage, plaster patched and cleanup done. They installed 12 smoke, 3 heat and 3 carbon detectors. The work done was in a original contract. All other work done we added on, since they did such a great job at a reasonable price. John Vespa and his crew are the best electricians I have ever hired. Professional, friendly, respectful of property, fast, took the time to discuss options and alternate solutions to problems we encountered.
Description of Work: Installed smoke , heat and carbon monoxide detectors to comply with town fire codes for condo conversion. Added a public meter. Cleaned up a rat's nest of wires in the basement, installed bathroom exhaust fan, replaced old ceiling boxes, added outlets, installed a 220 line, brought service to an attic space.

Because of bad weather it took a long time to set this job underway. Once started, however, John Vespa twice stayed into the evening to get the job done. Won't know whether the job was a success however until the next bad winter.

John returned my call promptly and came out for an onsite inspection to prepare the proposal. He arrived ontime and was very thourough in his explanation. The only downside was waiting for his proposal by mail, would have liked to have had it by e-mail. However, i'm glad I waited - his price was very reasonable and his propsal was clear. One the proposal was agreed to, we set a date. The guys arrived on time and went straight to work . They did a great job and cleaned up every last scrap of dust. The project was compled in a day and pricing was exactly as proposed. I would certainly hire John again.

John returned my call within one day and came out and gave me a reasonable quote. I can't remember exactly what it was because I changed the job on him, having discovered the funky dangerous electrical outlets only after the first quote. But he didn't kill me on the final price he charged me, I think $490 is reasonable for the amount of work involved. The work: - they ran the entry foyer overhead light to a wall switch, intelligently situated, at their suggestion, so that someone coming into the apartment could actually turn on the switch without having to walk in, open the front hall door, and turn on a switch in the front hall; - they ran the front hall overhead light to the existing front porch exterior light switch in the front hall wall, replacing that switch with a 2-gang switch for operating the front hall overhead light and the front porch exterior light - they replaced the funky 1950's-style dining room wall outlet with a normal outlet - they replaced the dangerous back bedroom wall outlet with a normal outlet - and they took a look at the rest of the apartment and reassured me there was nothing else that looked like it would spontaneously explode
Description of Work: In trying to ready my 1st-floor 2-bedroom apartment for rental, I noticed that the entry foyer and front hall overhead lights were inoperable: having had old-fashioned pullstring switches, the pullstrings had been pulled off. Also, there were two weird outlets: a dining room wall electrical outlet that looked like something from the 50's, and a back bedroom wall outlet that literally burst into sparks when I tried to remove the wall plate for the painters.

John Vespa showed up promptly and sent an estimate promptly. He answered all of my questions about his estimate clearly and carefully. He and his men showed up at the agreed time and completed the work efficiently and carefully. John's work was neat and tidy. He returned all of my phone calls within a few hours and was exceptionally pleasant and professional. He performed some extra work for a reasonable price. He obtained the required electrical permit and sign off from the electrical inspector. I highly recommend John. .

I found John Vespa during our condo association's electrical upgrade project. I interviewed other 'A' rated AL electricians, but he took the time to explain the finer details, had a better 'vision' for the overall project, was and his price was in the ballpark. The project got off to a bit of a rocky start, as there was some mix-up in terms of John getting all the stock he needed within our tight time frame. But that was quickly rectified (he came by after hours to re-look at our setup) and the team was off and running. They were neat, punctual, efficient, and most importantly, considerate. For example, we had a couple of basement lights that were wired directly to my service, one at the top of the basement stairs, one near my storage unit. We had not discussed this being part of the project. However, John's team took the time to switch the stairway light over to the new public service, and kept the other light (near my storage unit) on my panel. No charge, no issues, but very very considerate. I've since had John do several rounds of work in my individual unit, including updating the wiring in several rooms to bring them up to code, changing out original (c. 1900) wiring for 3 ceiling fixtures, and installing a 220v dryer outlet. Again, quick to schedule, courteous, great quality. For example, I anticipate having to move my dryer approx 5 to 10 feet when I do my full kitchen remodel... John's team kindly ran plenty of 'extra' wire, to make the next job easier. And, they found out that one of my 110v outlets (that had a history of shorting out) was actually wired for 220v. Dangerous... but they immediately fixed the issue at no cost. Finally, John is completely committed to quality, as he often stops by after his team is done to inspect the work...and I actually enjoy his company. I'm a tough customer, as I know a good amount about construction and the trades (family). John and his team are truly A+ in my book.
Description of Work: John and his team: 1-Added a public meter to our condo building, 2-Upgraded each units electrical panel (2 of us were still on fuses), 3-Added public light service to the basement, 4-Fixed several non-working lights in the public areas, 5-Upgraded and/or added approx 10-12 110v outlets in my condo, 6-Upgraded lighting wiring in 3 rooms of my condo, and 7-Added a 220v dryer outlet to my condo.

Our condo has a wall heater in the bathroom that has not worked since we moved in about 5 years ago. We just never got around to having it fixed. Finally, I called John Vespa based on his superb recommendations on Angie's List. He returned my message promptly, listened to the problem, and told me that he would come out and take a look at the heater. If he couldn't fix it then he would have to replace it. He quoted a service visit fee of $125. He called the day before to confirm the appointment and showed up on time. He took his shoes off at the door without being asked. John took the panel off the heater and quickly determined that although it was getting power, the voltage was too low. He explained what he was doing along the way and was happy to answer my questions. He took the circuit breaker panel off and immediately found that the wiring in the panel had been improperly performed. Fortunately he was able to rewire the panel properly and now we (finally) have a working heater! John was courteous, professional, and efficient. Although he only needed about 30 minutes to fix our problem, I consider his service charge well-spent for his experience and efficiency. I would have no hesitation recommending John Vespa to anybody else needing an outstanding electrician.
Description of Work: I called John Vespa to fix an electric wall heater in our bathroom. He quickly identified that the problem was actually in our circuit breaker panel wiring; as a result, the wall heater was not getting enough voltage to run.

Vespa was very responsible. He found an opening to do the work earlier than promised because he knew I was in a hurry. He is pragmatic and tries to find the simplest way to do things. As a result, there may be electricians whose work is of higher quality (Vespa does not skip on any thing essential. He tries to use existing switches and things like that). I had him do an earlier project and was very happy with his work. John's a nice guy and pleasant to work with. His crew are responsible and left the place in good order.

John was absolutely great to work with. He was always on-time and professional, let us know exactly when he would be there and what they would be doing. The quality of the work he and his crew did was top-notch. It was a dirty job, required removing a lot of knob and tube wiring in a very hot attic in August and snaking new lines up two floors. All the holes were patched, and the crumbly, 90 year old horsehair plaster was barely damaged...anywhere. It was a snap for us to repaint the small holes around the boxes and access holes they had to cut to run the romex. I still don't know how they managed not to break off more of that plaster. When they were doing the work, they were also very careful to keep power working in certain rooms so we could still live there without disturbance. And they cleaned up every night. Vacuumed and all. When it came time for the inspection, the inspector didn't even blink at any of the work. Previously, when we redid our kitchen with a different electrician, he was all over the work. It was like a white-glove affair. Plain and simple, the job John and his guys did was done right, on-time, and on -budget. We we're lucky to have used him.

Everything was great. Great to work with and they were very professional.
Description of Work: John, Rob, and Phil rewired our kitchen that hadn't been touched since the 1930s. We wanted to keep the original walls and they did a great job snaking wire and locating spots for new outlet and fixture boxes. They installed all new outlets, recessed lighting, and wiring for a vent hood and dishwasher/disposal. Came back a few times after we changed our mind on outlet locations and were very flexible. Also rewired back porch light, installed outdoor outlet and security light, and installed new fixture box in hallway.
