Bauman Remodeling

My wife and I decided to do a major kitchen renovation which consisted of joining two rooms. We had many contractors come to look at our job and we discussed the look we wanted and a load bearing wall being removed. All the contractors agreed that it was impossible to join the two rooms to obtain the look we wanted except for Mike Bauman . Mike assured us that his team would be able to hide a beam (lvl) above the ceiling and lay out the kitchen to make it more functional. His meticulous approach to the job and craftsmanship was apparent immediately. His foreman Chris worked tirelessly with my wife and I with insight and knowledge of construction to add custom touches to the final product. After hearing so many horror stories about renovations that went bad, I felt fortunate that we hired Bauman remodeling. I felt that Mike in the crew were passionate about making sure the customer was happy and would always be available to answer our never ending e-mails and phone calls. At the end the kitchen came out amazing and on budget . I would highly recommend Bauman construction and would not hesitate to hire them again .

We were very pleased with the project that Mike and his team did on our house! We have an older home and there were many unexpected things that came up along the way and they navigated all the bumps just fine. Mike and his team are fair, honest and take great pride in their work. Unlike other contractors we have tried in the past, Mike is alwasys responsive and easy to communicate with which was a huge relief! I would recommend them to anyone.

We were happy to meet Mike and George after starting a job with a different contractor. We had been told that our wall could not be removed. However, Mike and his crew not only removed that wall, but also made our other doorways larger. We have heard that permitting in our town of Westwood can be a challenge, but the process went well for us. Their workmanship was meticulous and we felt that he treated the job like he was working on his own house. Chris, his foreman, brought a fresh approach to the job and helped us, with his years of knowledge, create a beautiful and functional space. Mike stayed within budget and we weren't shocked at the end with any additional expenses. We highly recommend Mike and his crew for home renovations.

I am beyond pleased with Bauman Remodeling and the work that they did in my home. George, who managed the project, went above and beyond to make sure things went smoothly. He informed me of everything that was going on along the way, and made sure that there was as little disruption as possible. The work that was completed was top notch and my kitchen looks like something out of a magazine.

We recently moved into an older home that was in need of painting and major renovations. While we were deciding on the extent of our kitchen renovation, we hired Mike and his team (especially Eddie) to fully paint the interior. They were the lowest bid of the four competitive bids we received, and the quality of their work was superb. The trim work was clean, the work was done on time and on budget, and their workers were punctual and communicative. They even put a fourth coat of paint on walls that needed it, without being asked. They also provided excellent advice about kitchen renovating and removal of a load-bearing wall. Their bid for this project was about 25% higher than a competing bid, and we chose the lower bid. *THIS WAS A MISTAKE.* In contrast to the work with Mike, the lower bidder has been a nightmare to work with, there have been significant budget overruns, and we are currently about two months behind on a two month project. It turns out the quality of general contractor matters a great deal to the renovation experience, and based on the work that we did do with him, we believe we would have been far better off using Mike and paying slightly more. Next time we'll do that.

Mike Bauman and all of his crew and sub-contractors did amazing work for us renovating and really transforming our new house with a new kitchen and bathroom. He took on every challenge we had that came with the substantial work it took to open up the first floor living space. He is professional, highly skilled, takes obvious pride in his work, and runs a great team. Even though he is very busy, he made sure to share all updates along the way, give us options, and was always responsive right away when we needed to reach him for any reason. Can't recommend him highly enough, it was a pleasure working with him.

I can't say enough great things about Mike and his team. They were incredibly responsive, so careful and thoughtful with our home. They asked if we liked the progress at every turn, had wonderful helpful ideas about all of the components of the project. They finished WAY ahead of schedule, under budget and with a smile. We had been working with another contractor to build our baby's room who kept letting us down- not answering calls, not showing up for his first day. My 8 months pregnant wife wasn't sleeping knowing that our baby may come into the world without a bedroom-or that we'd have to live in a dusty construction zone with a newborn baby. Mike and his team came to the rescue. They finished the project with weeks to spare until her due date and my wife has slept through the night ever since. Working with them was like a breath of fresh air. Each team they brought in - from the carpenters, to the painters, plumbers, HVAC, electricians were incredibly talented and so kind. We could not be more grateful to them for their beautiful work in our home. Their meticulous attention to detail with the carpentry and paint has made us so happy. They cleaned up the work site each night knowing that the dust and sawdust would effect my wife and our puppy. They went above and beyond at each turn, and it meant so much to us. We really feel at home now.

Mike and his team helped transform our home into a beautiful, more functional space for our growing family. We had an extremely outdated kitchen that required a full gut and took out a load bearing wall to open the kitchen up to a dining room. His team also did a full gut job of a bathroom that was not functional, turning a small space into a bathroom with a custom shower and pocket door to maximize space. Mike was extremely communicative and was quick to respond with any questions/concerns we had, as well as providing regular updates as to the progress of the project. When issues arose, Mike called us right away to discuss the issue and come up with an appropriate solution. He was always looking out for our best interests and we felt comfortable trusting Mike and his crew to take care of our home and treat it like it was their own. They also replaced baseboards for us and were very detail oriented to make it match and flow with the parts of the house that were not having work done. We would definitely hire his team again in the future.

Mike, George and rest of the crews were very professional and accommodating. They turned my dark and dingy basement laundry room to a bright and airy room. It is one of my favorite room in the whole house now. I would certainly hire them for my future projects.

Excellent. The repairs were done timely. The remodel of the kitchen went incredibly well and they were excellent with communication throughout the process.

We recently remodeled our full bathroom and also a powder room by Bauman Remodeling. Mike and his crew did an excellent job. This is the third major project that we've had Mike complete in the last 4 years (we also had Mike take down a wall, build built-ins around our fireplace, install French doors, and other carpentry work, and also a full remodel of our master bathroom). Our recent job included remodeling our main bathroom: installing a new slate floor, all new fixtures, tiling around the bath with custom niche, and also updating our powder room (new marble floor, new toilet, and wall hung sink). We find Mike to be very professional, easy to work with, and does first rate work. He and his crew have great attention to detail. Communication with Mike is excellent - I always know when workers are showing up. We felt very comfortable with asking Mike any questions or raising any concerns. When any unexpected issues arise (as they always do in older homes) Mike is great to work with to solve the issue and keep your design goals in place. He truly wants his customers to love the project when its done. We've used Mike and his crew for three major projects, and have been very happy with everything. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mike for any remodeling job.

The remodeling of the family room which also involved creating a custom wood fireplace encasement and mantle, redoing the floors, and replacing a door went exceedingly well. Bauman Remodeling exceeded our expectations from start to finish. It’s rare to find a general contractor like Bauman Remodeling. The team was easy to work with talking through each phase of the project not only within the same trade but across the trades. I have built a number of very high end homes in Newton and Bauman Remodeling and its crew clearly standout. The quality of the workmanship is unsurpassed. We were extremely pleased with the outcome of the remodeling project!

We hired Bauman Remodeling to remove a load bearing wall and completely renovate a 1970s kitchen. From the beginning, Mike was very helpful as we worked through several iterations of our plans. We had designed the kitchen ourselves, and used IKEA cabinet boxes with custom made doors, so we required some guidance and hand-holding, and Mike, Chris, and the rest of the crew were wonderfully patient through the process. Mike hired a professional architect to create the plan for the load bearing wall to come down and the beam to go in its place, so we felt confident in the structural work. Something we appreciated was Mike’s commitment to stay on budget. Other than a couple of minor expenses that could not have been reasonably foreseen, and were due to the idiosyncrasies of our house (like our crappy original wiring), we stayed on budget through the entire project. The communication was excellent throughout - Mike responded almost immediately to any questions or concerns. Also, Mike, Chris, Carlos, and the rest of their crew are really nice people. The final product is gorgeous. The carpentry is flawless - the moldings and trim are beautiful, and, as a result, what is essentially an IKEA kitchen looks like something from a magazine!

Mike promptly came to house after contacted and provided an estimate for the work. Work commenced soon thereafter. Mike and his crew were very polite, friendly and responsive to our requests. Overall quality of the work was excellent. Cleanup after each day was thorough.

I chose not to use Mike for this job, but he's done some nice work for me in the past. The guy I used was less money and, thankfully, he did a great job,

It was a terrific project and I am thrilled with the results. Mike met with me numerous times to talk through the design of the project, patiently answered my questions, and made excellent recommendations on quality materials. His crew showed up when they said they would, were extremely polite and neat. The work was done to my specifications and on time. Mike showed up at the job site to oversee quality, and was extremely responsive through the whole project. Bauman is a high quality, professional organization, and I would not hesitate to hire them again.

Mike was patient, thorough, and thoughtful. We had three quotes and his prices were pretty much in line with the others. We started with a very large job right after moving in and Mike was sensitive to the stress that we were under while unpacking and settling in. Mike is also a solid communicator. He wants to be sure that everyone is on the same page in terms of the scope of the job. The quality of the work was great!

Mike Bauman is a real pleasure to work with- as an older single woman, I had had past bad experiences with being talked down to or patronized by male contractors, but that was never the case with Mike. It really felt like we were working together to plan my project and make revisions as we went along. If subcontractors made mistakes, he saw to it that they were corrected at no additional cost to me. I am very pleased with the final results!

Went great, Mike was able to fit in all of these items on short notice between other jobs, and selected most of the materials. It all took about a month end-to-end, and the end result looked great. These were all items that were much easier to do once the house was empty, and all very much worth doing. The house sold in one weekend, and we'll plan to hire Mike for projects at the new house a few years down the line.

Mike and his team did an amazing job. We had a custom master bath gutted as well as a full hall bath. All of Mike's subs were great and were masters at their craft. Eddie his project manager was great to deal with as well. He always made sure what you wanted or your vision was met. He was always available and would always check in to see how things are going. When you make an appointment for a quote with Mike and his team, you know right away they are different and the ones you want to choose.

Mike Bauman and crew did a fabulous job. We were away for much of this work, and Mike communicated with us constantly (including sending photos of ongoing work) to keep us up to date. Mike totally understood our goals and budget, and contributed some wonderful ideas of his own as we went along in the process. Mike and his crew are completely trustworthy, they were always a pleasure to work with. We highly recommend Mike and would definitely use Mike and crew again in future.

We obtained several quote for this project, with Bauman's pricing coming in toward the middle of the range of offers. He is super responsive and always available for questions via email, text, or phone. In reviewing the project, he asked a number of detailed questions and came back with a proposal that had all of the details discussed- very thorough. His team was able to quickly pull a permit and get to work once we settled on working with him. The crew was great to work with- diligent and professional. Each day they cleaned up the worksite, things were always neat and tidy. The quality of the workmanship, including the custom built wooden columns for the new porch, was very high. The team even carefully removed pieces of existing siding and then replaced them, minimizing impacts to the side of the house... which we will eventually re-side. Overall, super happy with the project. We did close to a gut renovation on our home when we bought it and have since replaced the roof/gutters, put on a new back deck, replaced 40 windows, blown in insulation etc- all with a variety of contractors. Working with Mike and his team was far and away the best home project experience we have had to date. I would highly recommend working with Mike.
