We were referred to Donald Morey by a contractor we had used frequently in the past. Mr Morey was a pleasant older man and gave us an estimate fairly quickly. I explained that we needed to wait a few weeks or months to schedule because I wanted to be home during the installation and could not take time off immediately. We ordered the tile based on the square footage he quoted and picked it up and stored it until I got time off. When I called to schedule the job Mr Morey said he would be away for several weeks at the time I had planned to take off. And he said it as if I should have known he would be away. We were also replacing the kitchen countertops and he suggested the same days. I didn't see how it could possibly be a good idea to have new countertops and floors installed at the same time but he began to get aggravated. After that it would be late December and I didn't want the kitchen torn up at that time. Now we're talking January which is when I absolutely have to be at work for training. He started giving me a hard time about why I had to be present. I explained that I've had lots of other work done over my lifetime and there are always questions or unforeseen issues that come up. To make a long story short, he accused me of not trusting that he knew how to do his job and/or that I thought he would steal. I was astounded and perplexed and tried frantically to explain that I had no such ideas but he continued to yell at me. By the end of the conversation I had placated him somewhat but I was frightened at this idea of trying to deal with a person who became unreasonable so quickly. I was in tears when my husband came home and he called and canceled the job. When we finally did have the tile installed by another contractor it turned out that Mr Morey had over-estimated the amount of tile needed by almost 50%. Thank goodness the new contractor used the same tile store and they agreed to take the extra back (minus a 25% restocking fee). I have to assume Mr Morey was having some sort of personal issue but I can't recommend him.

The price was reasonable and I am happy with them. He did a good job and I would recommend them because they were very thorough and personable while they were working. They got the job done in a good amount of time and the clean up was done well also. I am very pleased with them.
Description of Work: They installed porcelain ceramic tile that looks like brick in my living room and some in my spare bedroom as well.

The workmanship was excellent. They came as promised and I was unavailable to be home so I left the door unlocked. They exceeded my expectations because I had another bid for the job that was quoted at $3300. I had a lot of cuts as you can see by the photos but normally he charges $8.00 a square foot. I supplied all the grout and tile; all the rest of the material were part of the price.
Description of Work: We have a 200 square foot kitchen that needed to have a new floor. We decided on using 18 X 18 inch tiles with 4 X 4 inch tiles as accents. Don Morey (father; semi-retired) gave me a written estimate the next day after he looked at the job. Eric Morey (son) and his assistant John came two days to install 1/2 inch cement board as an underlayment and then installed ceramic tile. They came back the third day to grout and install three oak and one marble thresholds.
