I received a hydrangea bush as a gift and the person who purchased it found that the bush was drooping and loosing it's leaves. The stalks were drying out despite the constant watering before they gave it to me. I had it for 4 days and I continued to water it but it was not recovering. When I called Kane's they said they do not guarantee their plants. This is a bad policy because plants, bushes and trees are very expensive and if by chance you purchase one that is either diseased or poorly cared for before you purchased it, it is yours no matter what. I suggest you go to a reputable nursery or even the "big box stores", you will get much better customer service and they will surely stand by their merchandise. Very bad experience with this and the poor person who gave me this as a gift is very embarrassed although it was not her fault. As the previous reviewer stated, the manager is very condescending and just kept repeating "Hydrengea means water" no matter how I described the Bush, he just kept repeating the same thing. And "we do not guarantee our Bushes."

I found the sales staff at Kane's to be very inattentive and their prices to be average or high. However, I had never seen hydrangea trees, found them to be unique and bought two with the intention of them being the focal point in the front of my home. I now have side by side trees...one flourishing and one that is dead and will need to be dug up and replaced. Kane's is apathetic to the situation citing that they do not have a guarantee/warranty of any kind.
Description of Work: I purchased two hydrangea trees in April 2012 for $65/tree. They are planted side by side; they have received equal care, watering, etc. The one on the left bloomed all summer. The one of the right lost all of it's flowers and began to wither in August of 2012. By September it lost all of it's leaves. I called Kane's to ask them about their guarantee. I was told they do not have a guarantee. I explained the situation and was told "they are hydrangeas...hydro...like water...did you water them?!?" in a very condescending way. I explained they are side by side and have received equal care; one is alive and well, the appears dead. I was told to wait until spring and "see what happens" but, that they do not have a guarantee. The one of the left now has buds and is starting to bloom; the one on the right is dead. There are many other places that do have a one or two year guarantee for situations such as this.

The vast majority of the greenhoused plants were seriously in need of water, droopy almost to the point of no return. I found 2 that were ok and went in search of the type of organic fertilizer I needed, found it and went to the check out counter. There I saw an small can of organic bug spray by the same company that had produced the fertilizer I was purchasing. I asked the middle aged womean at the register if this really worked. She looked in my direction but did not respond, proceeded to ring up my items, told me the total and gave me the receipt to sign. She said "have a good day" in a rote tone. She then turned her back on me and faced in the other direction when there was no need to do so. I have lived in this community for decades and this type of service and attitude is not uncommon at Kane's. The owner back in the 70's, old Mr Kane was rude and apparently instilled this attitude in future generations running the business. No staff member has ever smiled, had a friendly word,or shown any interest in being pleasant to those who support their business. It's hard to imagine why any business would want to deter customers, but Kane's appears not to care one way or another. Perhpas they should hire staff that like people, instead of a long line of grumbelinas.
Description of Work: This is a store front garden center with an attached greenhouse, and gardening accessories. I purchased 2 plants and a gallon of plant food.

Kane's Flower World has a good selection and excellent prices on plants, both annuals and perennials. I love going there in the spring when their huge greenhouse is full of flowering annuals that form a vast carpet of color across the floor (they don't use tables in the seasonal greenhouse). Kane's also has bushes, trees, indoor plants, and Christmas trees for the holidays. They have a really good selection of supplies for starting seedlings. My friend recommended them to me.
