Description of Work: Came out and fixed a problem with my refrigerator ice maker. Did and excellent job and the technician was very helpful and professional.

Description of Work: We bought a new dryer from them and they were really knowledgeable and friendly. We were able to think about the dryer we wanted and just call back to let them know which one and pay over the phone so we didn't have to take another trip down there. They are very convenient and friendly and even helped us figure out how old our other appliances were and talk us through how to fix our fridge on our own so that we didn't have to pay for them to come out to us. I would definitely go back to them for all other appliances.

Description of Work: Douglass Appliance is a wonderful and highly responsive appliance store with excellent service. I would highly recommend purchasing appliances from them as well as using their repair service. They are a professional and reliable family business.

Description of Work: I’ve used them 4 times. Most recently they repaired one of the units on my stove; it hadn’t worked since we moved in almost 10 years ago.

Description of Work: The compressor had stopped working on our refrigerator on Christmas Eve. I thought it might have been the relay so I ordered one online. Turns out it was the wrong part so we called Douglass Appliance. They were able to send someone out right away. Turns out the problem was a bad compressor rather than just the relay. Despite the short notice, they were able to obtain a replacement compressor and install it the same day.

Description of Work: Through the years I have purchased from Douglas Appliance Center in Danvers, MA Maytag Refrigerators, Dishwashers, Stoves, Clothes dryers & washers, so I considered myself a good customer. But when I used their service dept. I had quite a problem. I called to report that a fridge bulb was not working & I had tried several others. I also told them 2 other adults had also tried new bulbs with no luck. They offered no suggestion but set up a repair appointment for a few days later. When the repairman showed up I let him in, showed him the fridge, and started into another room. Before I could sit down, literally within 30 seconds, the repairman yelled "All done." I asked him what he had done. With a smirk he said, "I turned the bulb." I paid the $75 charge. After he left I went on line to research this problem. The 1st two handyman sights I went on both said that Maytag fridge bulbs are known for this problem. They also said when a customer calls with this problem instead of incurring a service charge they tell the customer to put light lubricant on bulb base & give it an extra turn and this almost always works. Because I felt that Douglass Appliance must have known of this problem with Maytag fridge bulbs because they are an authorized Maytag dealer and also that they must know as much as two handymen, I felt being a good customer they should have told me about this problem in my initial phone call, so there would have been no need for a service call & charge. I attempted to reach Lloyd Douglass, the owner, by phone & mail. He failed to return calls or respond to my letter. Finally, I caught, him answering the phone. We discussed the above situation. He was rude, tried to claim his office had told me of the problem when I 1st called--(They did not!). I asked for some type of adjustment on the $75 charge. Again considering the Thousands of dollars of appliances I have purchased from him, and the incident itself, I felt this was justified. He said He would think about it & get back to me. I never heard from him again. Apparently this is a company that is quite happy to sell customers anything as long as no problem arises; when it does they are nowhere to be found. Of course, I will never do business with this firm again.
