 + -1 moreWe had problems with are heating system. Noise and overheating in some zones. Thought the worst. Michael came to service the system and diagnosed it quickly as air in the water pipes and no pressure. He fixed the issue quickly and stayed extra time to check every zone to make sure all was good. Once again, very happy to have Concord Oil, and Michael, do the work. We've used them for oil refilling and service for over 10 years and are very very happy.

 + -1 moreThe outside AC units had a large amount of mouse infestation, though this isn't why we called. We were just overdue for regular service. Concord oil sent one man who did all the work and did a thorough professional job, but didn't always answer questions as clearly as he might have. But we use Concord Oil for many different things (Heater, etc.) and have always been very happy.

 + -1 moreAs a condition of closing on the house, we had the seller contract Concord Oil to clean, tune up, and make furnace and boiler safe to use. Two days after the closing we had MassSave do the audit. Guess what. The furnace failed. CO level 12% higher than the maximum permitted. Flume temperatures way too high. And the efficiency numbers calculated, as inspector said it "by fantasy formula". So now I am blocked from doing insulation work until we fix the furnace. Furnace that supposed to be working and safe. Unacceptable and unprofessional.
Description of Work: Tune up of boiler and furnace to make both safe to operate.

 + -1 moreOn a regular basis, the day or two after Concord Oil delivers 'fresh' oil, we wind up with our heat going out overnnight. Then when their tech comes, it is often chalked up to some sort of sediment in the oil which clogged some part of the burner. Pretty much every winter, we wake up without heat 3-4 times. I finally asked to speak to the repair manager last week and he was sympathetic and told me we would not be charged for the prior efforts they had made to fix it, which I appreciated. But even he had to admit when scrolling throug our long record of house calls that we seemed to be having a lot of problems. To some degree this might just be a review of oil heat in general, and I will give Concord Oil credit that hey are generally pretty prompt in making their service calls. But the quality of the repairs has been extremely lacking.
Description of Work: We bought a house with oil heat. About 4 years ago we started having more and more repair problems and wound up ordering a new burner from our oil company which was Concord Oil. Since then, the problems have kept up at almost the same level.

gas leak repair
 + -1 moreAfter my experience with the dysfunctional gas station and the person who was supposed to help the customers (not agitate them), I wrote an email to Nancy, the VP of Concord Oil expressing my disapproval of the incident. Nancy quickly responded, and first thing is asking for my address to send a gift card to make up for the incident. She also expressed her condolences for what had happened. Not that I really cared about the gift card, but it never came. I emailed the VP back saying that I didn't care about the money, only that I wanted the VP to uphold her promise. After giving her my address one more time, all connections were cut off and I didn't hear back from the VP again or receive the gift card.
Description of Work: I went to fill the gas for my car at Citgo in West Roxbury station which is owned by the Concord oil co. The gas station did not take credit cards at the pump, and customers had to pay inside in a long line. Upon paying inside, I went back outside to fill up the gas only to see that the pump was not giving out gas. I went back inside to question the cashier about the situation and he told me that he had accidentally sent the order to the wrong pump and that he would redirect it to my pump. So, I once again went back outside to find that the pump I was at was still not distributing any gas. I went back inside, to ask the cashier for help. When I asked the cashier to come outside and help me, the cashier had the gall to begin talking impatiently to me, as if it was my fault HE had mistakenly sent the gas to the wrong pump! After 20 minutes of trying to deal with an incompetent cashier (which was a result of the pumps not working which they should have been at any half decent gas station) I asked for my money back and left without gas. Getting gas should only take about five minutes max not 20 minutes, or maybe I should say, NOT getting gas should take 0 minutes, not 20 minutes.

 + -1 moreWe have been using them because they provide good service. We have a particularly difficult access to our tank in the winter as many companies who have trucks cannot get down our driveway. They have some trucks and have been really good about working with us and coordinating with us so that get down here. We have a contract with them. Their price is pretty fair. They have high quality products, very responsive and very punctual.

 + -1 moreWe spend $2,500 a month for oil in the winter. The maintenance work is about $250 each year. They have been very reliable and punctual but we have very little contact with them. We had something recently where we forgot and they were extremely quick and helpful. They didn't do the work but they helped us find someone to deal with the propane. They have been very helpful.

We had had many people look at the system. It turned out to be an inexpensive problem. Concord Oil is also our oil company.

 + -1 moreAfter we found out that our boiler plate was failing, we were informed by several different professionals that we needed a new boiler. We requested estimates from Concord Oil as we wanted them to replace our boiler. However, Concord Oil never gave us estimates nor did they follow through by phone or email. We called Concord Oil to ask if they could email us estimates for repairs. Concord Oil informed us that they did not have external email capabiities Recently, we USPS mailed a letter to Concord Oil to request resolution. However, as of to date they have not responded. Regretfully, we will probably switch service providers in the spring given our most recent experiance. In closing, Concord Oil has been been around for many years and they do have a good reputation despite this isolated episode that we experianced. In addition, they also have allot of overhead which results in higher pricing compared to other providers. However, the trade off is that they have the ability to respond to 24 hour emergencies. Our adivce to Angies List suscribers is to shop around and examine your own needs first.
Description of Work: For the most part, we have been very pleased with Concord Oil. They have always responded in a timely manner for repairs and educated us on the preventive maint. However, we had experianced leaking from the boiler plate back in December 2011 where we requested assistance from Concord Oil. Though, did respond in a timely manner and diagnosed the problem, we feel they did not take proactive measures to prevent the leaking from getting worse, ie use boiler sealer. In addition, we also feel the price they charged us was high given the fact Concord Oil did not phyiscally take any preventive steps to temporarly seal the crack in the boiler plate.

 + -1 moreExcellent. We hired them to repair/service our furnace. Another company tried to repair it, but the furnace kept shutting off and needed to be reset. We called Concord because the previous owners of our house had used them, hoping they would know more about the problem. Despite the lack of any past problems, they assessed the situation and recommended minor service that eliminated our problem completely.

 + -1 moreConcord Oil Co. has provided us with very satisfactory service. We haven't had to have them repair anything yet, but they do a good job of servicing and maintaining the unit. I think that they do this so well is the reason that we haven't had to do repairs. They are very professional and efficient. We pay an annual fee. There several different levels of contracts, and I believe we have the lowest one.
Description of Work: We had them come out to check and do a service maintenance on our oil furnace. We have a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom Cape Cod home.
