When clearing out Mom's 100 yr old house, we found many antique treasures. One was a torciere (1920's floor lamp). It had spent the past 42 yrs in an old un-insulated attic and I have no idea where it was hidden before that. It was rusty, dirty, and rather junk-like. It required a lot of work and complete re-wiring. I was in need of an expert who was knowledgeable enough about the original period to bring it to life again. I found Appleton Lighting to be antique expert that I needed. They restored the lamp to it's original former appearance. It has a lovely art deco personality in cream painted metal, brass trim and onyx weighted base. They did a wonderful job, they were professional and very helpful with suggesting the right approach. I also had two antique boudoir lamps which needed similar help and they rewired those with cloth covered wire - just like the original! Appleton's selection of lampshades and finials made it easy to complete the classic look. These lamps have been in my family for generations and now they will continue to be handed down.
Description of Work: My antique family heirloom lamps required complete restoration to return them all to their original look. During my consultation, I learned that the floor lamp required cleaning and polishing of brass parts. The metal painted parts needed to be completely stripped and painted, and re wired. Additionally, the base had a metal decoration piece that was broken off and required re-attachment. The boudoir lamps required strip cleaning and polishing as well as re-wiring with gold cloth wire as was original to the lamps. The boudoir lamps needed shades and the floor lamp needed a glass torchiere shade. All three lamps required new sockets. Appleton offered professional advice and returned my lamps within 2 weeks. Note: The above price covered restoration - the shades were of my choosing and subsequent cost additional.

We are very pleased with the level of professionalism and service provided by the owners Jane and Loukas Deimezis, who spent many hours with us helping with our choices. We would recommend them very highly.
Description of Work: Appleton cleaned the intricate chandelier in our dining room and cleaned indoor and outdoor lights. They did this in a very punctual manner, and all the work was of excellent quality. Appleton also rewired a fixture we had purchased at an auction, and did a beautiful job, hiding all the wiring beautifully. In addition, we purchased several lighting fixtures from Appleton, all of which are of the highest quality.

Finished the work in one day, which was very nice, but was pricey. My computer was down which is why I didn't check Angie's List beforehand.
