Description of Work: I felt like the window replacements we were looking at were poorly explained and over priced. Took them over a week to get me a quote while 2 other providers provided me the price on the spot. The sales guy gave me no specifics on the window except it's vinyl and they use a Maine company to get the windows. Ended up getting way better windows for 30 percent less!!! Also turned off that they use sub contractors to install. I thought initially the people who they used were actually employees of the company.

Description of Work: Company was asked to bid on particular windows and failed to do so. They appear to have bid on windows that they felt were required by historic regulations without regard to the fact that at least some of the windows were rear windows and not covered by the regulations. Showroom salesperson said they could sell/install skylight but when person came to measure he said that they don't do skylights. They wasted my time and made judgments about what they wanted to sell me versus what I wanted them to quote after extensive research. They were condescending as well -- I got the sense that they did not take me seriously because I was female.

Description of Work: J.B. Sash replaced 18 windows for us. The whole process from start to finish was great. This was the only window salesperson that did not try to force us to go through a lengthy presentation and make a decision on the spot as two other major companies did. The installers were great, completed the job on time, and cleaned up everything after they finished. It was a pleasure to work with this company.

Description of Work: I called JB Sash for a quote on replacing my extremely old wood windows in a condo I bought. A guy came out to assess the situation. He was replacing the regular guy who was out on leave. The guy was pretty incompetent overall, not understanding my questions or really having any information. I let this slide a little bit because it wasn't his usual job and he was just filling in. However, I still think you should make sure your salesmen/representatives are knowledgeable. 4 weeks later, I hadn't heard anything or received a quote so I gave JB Sash a call. The phone representative said she would look into it. Never heard back. 4 more weeks later, I called again just to see what their number was before going ahead with any job to have their quote in the mix. The same phone representative was very apologetic and promised to get in touch with the original salesman, get the information over to the regular guy and get back to me by Monday/Tuesday of this week. It is now Thursday and still no reply. I think they have solidly earned this F now. How anyone could rely on them for a job is beyond me, if they can't even give a quote with all the chances/time I gave them.

I'm very happy with JB Sash and Door. They have high quality products and are very helpful in the selection process. They were friendly, courteous and professional. These doors are beautiful and have intricate moldings. Not every place has these.
Description of Work: They sold and delivered two 7 foot, fiberglass outside doors. They took the old doors away. My carpenter installed them.

They were very helpful. The only problem was that I did not understand what they meant by half screen and full screen. They put a half screen in there and I would have wanted a full screen. The estimator was very helpful. The crew was very efficient and polite. It was great service and I got treated well.
Description of Work: I had 8 windows replaced in my house. Seven of them were 3 by 2 foot windows and 1 smaller window in the bathroom. They installed new fiberglass windows. It took about a full day's work to complete.

Be advised this process is taking longer than I thought it would by the time they did the estimate and contracted the work. If you're going to get a new door installed be sure to have plenty of time before winter sets in since it is a long process. I did sign a contract with them and I'm waiting for the work to be completed. My front door is a little complicated and they are not a standard size and felt this company tried to match the door the best they could to prevent me from having to pay for a custom door which would have been expensive. The owner of the company came to my house to do the estimate and he took the time to show me some things about my vinyl windows even though that was not why he was there. I thought this was a nice extra touch for the owner to still be doing actual estimates.
Description of Work: Received estimate and signed contract to replace front door and storm door. Also replacing storm door on back plus new hardware.

EVERYTHING WAS FINE/EXCELLENT EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT WE HAD A FEW WINDOWS IN THE KITCHEN THAT THEY MEASURED WRONG, SO WHEN THE WINDOWS CAME, THEY HAD THE WRONG SIZED-WINDOWS AND HAD ALREADY THROWN OUT THE OLD ONES. SO WE ARE SITTING WITH PLASTIC AND PLYWOOD FOR 3 WEEKS SO THEY CAN REORDER THEM (SO MAKE SURE THEY MEASURE ODD SHAPED WINDOWS WELL BEFORE THEY LEAVE! ). THEY DID NOT PROVIDE US WITH ANY SORT OF FINANCIAL REIMBURSEMENT FOR THEIR MISTAKE.
Description of Work: CAME TO THE HOUSE, MEASURED WINDOWS AND DISCUSSED OUR OPTIONS/DIFFERENCES AMONG TYPES OF WINDOWS AT LENGTH FOR NO CHARGE. SENT A QUOTE IN A TIMELY MANNER, AND DELIVERY CAME IN ON TIME (DESPITE ONE MISHAP). WE COMPARED WITH OTHER CO'S AND PRICE WAS IN LINE. INSTALLERS WERE COURTEOUS AND WORKED QUICKLY AND COMMUNICATED WELL ABOUT A PROBLEM.

I CALLED AGAIN AND THE LADY WHO DOES THE SCHEDULING SEEMED IRRITATED BY THE IDEA OF ASKING FOR A SALES CALL. SHE TOLD ME TO COME TO THEIR SHOWROOM IN CHELSEA, WHEN I INDICATED I COULDN'T (NO CAR) SHE RELUCTANTLY SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR OVER A MONTH OUT. SHE SAID THIS WAS THE EARLIEST THEY COULD DO IT. IN THE MEANTIME I HAD SEVERAL OTHER SALESMEN OUT FROM OTHER COMPANIES TO SHOW ME THEIR WINDOWS AND WENT WITH ONE OF THEM. WHEN I CALLED BACK TO CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT, I WAS TOLD THAT THE SALESMAN WOULD BE PLEASED I HAD CANCELLED. WEIRD. DOES THIS PLACE WANT BUSINESS OR NOT? OR IS IT JUST THE RECEPTIONIST?
