The Siding Guy

I did a pretty major renovation of my house. Had many sub-contractors in and out. By far, Joe and his crew were the easiest to work with for such a major job. Due to some bad plumbing work, had a leak and ended up using Joe to help remove some of the new siding so we could access and fix the plumbing issue. Even though it was a small follow up job, Joe and his guys helped me out very quickly!

We hired Joe and his crew to completely renovate our pressure treated wood deck that was in such disrepair it was unsafe. My wife had always wanted a 3-season porch as well, so we threw that into the mix. From the very start, Joe maintained a professional attitude when he went over materials and pricing. We knew what we wanted to do, but weren't sure how to minimize the costs. Joe made material and design suggestions that kept us within the budget we wanted. He told us that once we settled on a price, the price was the price, and it wouldn't change unless we added something or something completely unexpected turned up. He was true to his word and the job came in on budget. We did add a few things along the way, but the increased costs were strictly for materials and outside labor unrelated to the original project (new exterior door and electrical and plumbing for the 3-season porch). He also didn't ask for a small fortune up front. It was one third up front, a little more midway through the project, and the balance was paid upon completion. Joe and his crew were always extremely professional and polite and cleaned up after themselves at the end of the day. They were trustworthy too; I never felt uneasy having them in the house, even when we weren't home. My wife even started baking cookies and brownies for Joe and the guys! Joe made a point of touching base with us after every step of the project to make sure we were happy with the way things were going and he never had a problem addressing any questions or concerns we had. We kept in touch via text or phone conversation pretty regularly throughout the project. When the work was finished, they cleaned the job site so well, you would never have known they were here. Most importantly, he showed up when he said he would (weather permitting) and showed up on time. I really appreciated that because we had just had an issue with a tile contractor who took nearly a year to finish tiling our bathroom and I didn't want to have to deal with an absentee contractor again. I can't recommend The Siding Guy highly enough. Joe's been in the business for 30+ years, his prices are reasonable, his attitude is professional, and he and his crew do high quality work. Furthermore, he's been working with the same crew and outside contractors for years, so there are no surprises in terms of workmanship and punctuality. In fact, I was so pleased with the overall experience, I plan on making The Siding Guy my go to contractor for home improvements and repairs.

We have a wrap around porch that is on 3 side of the house. Joe and team were going to rebuild the porch from the frame up. As it turned out due to rot and city codes- we need to have new cement footings and a new frame. Joe and his team tore down the old structure. They dug 10 new hole - 4ft deep - for the cement footings. They built a new wooden frame out of pressure treated wood. The deck flooring is composite material and new railings and post with new lattice underneath the porch. Joe even customize a couple of openings for easy access to the under porch area for storage. He did such a good job - nobody can tell there is way to get under there. The porch is complete. It is very structurally sound and looks great. I have had neighbors stop to tell me how great the house looks.

We were very happy with the work Joe and his crew performed. They replaced our gutters and soffits, and capped our fascia boards with aluminum. They worked quickly, and the finished product looked good. Joe works with the crew, and I don't think he ever subcontracts (which is a big plus in my book). He seemed like he took a lot of pride in his work, and he made sure that we were completely satisfied with the job before he left.

I called Joe for an estimate and he called me back promptly and we setup a time for him to come to our house. He arrived on time and ready to go over the work to be done. He spent a good amount of time walking around the house with me, going over options and answered my 300 questions in stride. We chatted on the deck after. He had a trunk full of samples, which helped with seeing and touching the materials that were available. He wrote me up an appraisal and cost estimate on the spot and it was competitive. I tend to check quite a few contractors before settling on one and it came down to The Siding Guy and one other company. We ultimately chose the other company, but it was close, as we debated between the final two. I wouldn't hesitate to call Joe again.

Absolutely fantastic. Joe Wink (The Siding Guy) goes above and beyond to please his customers! The crew are also great guys very professional and all gentlemen. We ran into a problem when removing the old siding we found water damage so we had to contact our insurance. It all worked out and they took care of all the rotted wood, our ins. co. came through in a timely fashion and the job continued. One small problem that arose was my air conditioner pipes were originally covered with a white gutter and I didn't like the way it looked. So Joe said we'll make it look pretty! He always said that! So Jerry covered them in the same gray as the house, Cape Cod Grey. Any little thing I didn't like was taken care of. They actually painted my stink pipe twice, because I didn't like the color (well Scott did!) And Joe even went and bought paint to match my house and painted my oil delivery pipe!!! The electrician was Joe's brother Kenny.....he was excellent. We constantly get comments about how great our home looks. This was the best contractor experience to date, and we are married 38 years! Joe, Jerry, Rick, Scott, Kenny and another guy that hurt his arm two days into the job, I can't remember his name are perfectionist...they know their craft and they do it well.. Joe and his crew did a beautiful, high quality, professional job at a very reasonable price. I expected the scope of work to take at least a full day or more to complete. As planned, Joe and his crew arrived promptly at 8:00 am, worked very efficiently, and were completely finished by noon!

We called Joe to come to our house for assessment of replacement siding. He called back promptly and a meeting time was arranged. Joe arrived on time and surveyed the job with us. We discussed type of siding and details involved in replacing one type of siding with another. Joe provided us with an itemized quote. We did not end up working with Joe only because we decided on another type of siding other than the type he provided. We would call on him in the future if the need arose.

Great experience. Came within a week and quoted the job, spending time to make recommendations. Crew was very good. All work done quickly and professionally.

I'll start by saying I was not an Angie's list member before hiring Joe and his crew. I joined today mainly to be able to provide feedback on my experience with him on the project done on our house that finished JUST TODAY. I've read the other reviews and the vast majority of them provide a summary that is very similar to what I'm about to say. I originally called Joe for an estimate on home nearly 1 year ago. He came to my house within a couple of days, at night, to size up the job. He took careful measurements and discussed every detail right then and there. He also took some time prior to leaving to write up the estimate so we had something to think about that very night. Because we wanted to get several estimates, we called others. Some returned phone calls, some didn't. Of those that gave us estimates, most were nowhere near as professional and didn't seem nearly as knowledgeable. We ended up calling Joe back, after the winter passed, and asked him to come out again, and of course he did, and right away. As many others have said, his estimate wasn't the cheapest but there was something that we just genuinely trust about the guy, so we decided to hire him. He kept in close contact and arranged for an amenable start date. His crew didn't just show up on time, they showed up early each day and began the set up and prep work immediately. They were all extremely polite and hard working. They worked through the hottest, most humid and unpredictable weather so far this summer, yet they still made strong progress each day. Joe said it might take them 7-8 days to complete the job, but it took them just over 6 days! The quality of their work was impeccable. From the 25' sheets which eliminated seams, to the trim work, to the wrapping of the windows, we couldn't be more pleased. It was such a pleasure to come home from work each day to see how our house was transformed. Each morning that they started, he took the time to talk to us about what had been done the day prior to make sure he answered any questions that we might have had and to make sure we were happy with what they had done. He even took the care to buy paint that matched the color of the siding to paint some electrical and gas boxes, and left the paint with us. It may cost a bit more, but the decision to hire Joe and his crew is the right one.

He's a nice guy, but the estimate came in substantially higher than the rest. His estimate was $6,900. The next highest after that was $4,000 (and then it was $2,000 and $850). Aside from some painting, I can't tell why the estimate was so much, since there wasn't a whole lot of detail in his e-mail.

I called to arrange a quote. The phone was answered by voice mail that only told you the phone number not the company name. I did not leave a message. I got a call back within an hour and made an appointment for Joe to come out on Tuesday at 4:00pm to quote. I had to leave work early to make the appointment but Joe never showed and no phone call.

I can't say enough positive things about my experience with Joe. After a disastrous experience with another siding contractor that I found on Angie's List, we were left with a home with improperly trimmed windows and many cut corners on the job. It was hard to find a contractor willing to come in and help fix someone else's mistakes, but Joe rose to the occasion and did an absolutley amazing job. He came out very quickly and gave a rapid quote. They started on time, worked exceptionally hard and finished quickly. The work wasn't easy (cutting fiber cement siding already hung) and creating a custom window trim solution that fixed the other idiot's mistakes. But the job went quickly, professionally and we couldn't be happier with the results. Working with Joe was very easy, he was very easy to communicate with and helped talk through all of the choices. He's a fair guy who tells it like it is and has a tremendously positive attitude: a real problem solver. His team was great as well. Do not look any further for siding contractors!!!!

Joe gave me two estimates, one to replace the wrinkled vinyl with new vinyl, and one to replace it with wood. He knew about the problem of north-facing being wrinkled by reflected sunlight, and he researched solutions. He advised, correctly I think that the only two solutions are wood siding and full-window screens on my north neighbor's windows. Joe's estimate for replacing vinyl with vinyl was half the price of the other estimate I got, and the other contractor wasn't familiar with the problem and didn't suggest alternatives. I opted for wood siding. Joe scheduled me quickly, was considerate of the neighbor -- whose driveway he needed to work in -- came on time, did the job on time, and did a great job. The wood replacement siding looks pretty good next to the vinyl that's still there, as Joe predicted.

The guys showed up every day promptly at 7am. The took off the old siding and carted it away. They put up the staging. They put up the foam insulation board and taped all the seams. Then they put up the siding. WE got the long 25 ft sidng so there are no seams showing. The trim around the windows with a slight molded shape provides a nice accent. The guys cleaned up after themselves. The house looks great. We have gotten a number of compliments from neighbors about how good it looks and how well the job went.

We ended up chosing a different contractor but it was a very hard decision.

We are thrilled with the "house-lift" as we refer to it. If you are thinking of residing your home save yourself the time of getting three estimates and use this company. The craftsmanship was to the highest standard - impeccable framing and caulking of windows and doors with quality materials. The siding product is of high quality and from a distance several people have thought we had wood siding installed. Even optically, going from old white vinyl to a soft seafoam green there is no more glare bouncing off the house, which is a bonus we hadn't even thought of and used to be problem when we were in the pool in the backyard. They weren't the lowest bidder but having gone with that in the past and being disappointed this company is worth the difference. They have increased the value and visual appeal of our home much more than the difference we may have paid another contractor. They are familiar with all the latest building products and have been in this business for so long they have seen it all. Fantastic work ethic and easy going nature of everyone was a great bonus. Clean work site, pleasant crew, and a happy customer.

Joe and his team were great through the whole process. I had gotten multiple quotes for taking the 60 year old shingle siding that was badly deteriorated off my house and replacing it with Vinyl siding. Joe came by and gave me an estimate only a few days after I called (even during one of their busiest times of the year). Unlike all the national stores he was not pushy and spent just the right amount of time taking measurements and telling me what he would promise to do if I went with them. Also showing me the product they used and all the reasons why its superior. The fact that Joe special orders 25 foot panels of vinyl siding means far less seams and a much better look than what all other companies were offering me. Unlike all the other pushy sales people, I took a few weeks to think over the big decision. Joe even came out to tack up a few different colors of siding to the house so I could get a better look. At no time did Joe pressure me into making up my mind which was a nice change. The best thing he said during the entire process wasnt some flashy sales tactic but simply, "And if you have any problems down the road I guarantee the everything for as long as I'm still standing. Just call us and we'll come out to make it right." Might not be a flashy sales gimmick like the big box stores but I like having that kind of guy standing behind the product. Just a few short weeks later Joe called and had all the material ready, the appropriate permits pulled, and told me they had a slot coming up the following week. The first day Joe and his crew were on site by 7am and as a neighbor commented, "they didn't even take 15 minutes to get set up. The guys looked like an army tearing down the siding and rebuilding it". The whole process continued that way through the rest of the project. Every day they were here by 7 am, and if I had any question any of the guys were happy to stop what they were doing and talk to me. Even when I screwed up and told them to cap off an old electrical box for a floodlight, they happily went back and re-opened it for me the next day. In the end the house looks excellent and I don't think I could have picked a better group of guys to do the job. They all seem to enjoy what they are doing. My advice to anyone reading this is if you have a project that Joe and his team say they can do, go with them. You won't regret it.

Joe and his crew did a fantastic job. I waited months for the work to get started do to weather, but it was well worth the wait. My luck with having work done on my home has been less than successful in the past so I chose to use Angie's list and it was well worth the subscription cost......i would hire Joe and his work crew again!

It was so easy working with Joe and his crew. They were punctual, polite and professional and did a great job. They also did a great clean-up job. There were no problems and we'd definitely hire him again.

They were very prompt and professional. We chose another contractor whose recent experience more relevant to our project.

We initially contacted Joe, the Siding Guy from Angie's List to do some patch work, but Joe convinced us to getting a new roof, new siding and all new windows. We waited for a couple months before Joe and his crew could start the project, so the project didn't start until early winter, I guess it was good that they have good business. Joe looks like a hard rocker but don't his appearance deceive you, he knows what he talks about. Joe is an honest guy and he pays attention to details. I have quite a few picky requests but Joe was very patient with me, and he went above and beyond. He and his crew are punctual, hard working and friendly. They do quality work, and they clean up the space everyday. They finished our roof in less than a week, and the whole project was completed in three weeks. We were happy with our decision to select the Siding Guy, and we are very pleased with their work. The house is transformed, it looks much better and a lot warmer now. We would highly recommend the Siding Guy.

We originally spoke to Joe in early June, and had negotiated for he and his team to side our house in July (when I had vacation). It was important to us, to be around while Joe and his team were here. After several phone calls, and finally getting to where I was going to go somewhere else Joe was able to schedule... not in July but it would have been August at that point for anyone else. Once here the crew were friendly, courteous and professional. The siding looks wonderful, and my wife is pleased with the final look. Joe's team were here early AM each day, kept a clean working area as they worked. They were not the least expensive that I spoke with, but definitly were worth the extra and went above and beyond on their courtesy and professionalism. I could not ask for a better looking product, nor installation. If I wanted to dig for a complaint it would have to be on the clean up. Part of the area they worked in was a fenced off section of my back lawn, where our dog runs. When everything was completed and cleaned up, I found at least 2 dozen nails on the ground around the house. No worries I found them before the puppy stepped on them and got hurt, but a little better scan and pickup would have been good. Good points: VERY professional knowledgeable team. Excellent installation and a good value for my money. Siding looks wonderful, and the entire installation went quickly.. once started. Areas for improvement: The installation did not start when originally planned, causing some issues with getting off work to be here. Clean up for the most part looked good, but several nails were left on the ground. That said I would still highly recommend Joe and his experienced crew.

Late Sept. I described to Joe (the owner) two options for a small 2nd floor deck or balcony. He was quite prompt in providing hand-written quotes for both jobs and was the least expensive of the three quotations that I had received from deck builders. I met again with Joe in Oct. to discuss a couple of variants on the two options along with the pros and cons of each based upon my needs, the house and immediately surrounding land, and final costs. He was very helpful in my coming to a final decision between the options and agreed with the balcony approach option, in spite of the fact that the deck option would have reaped him another $1500 or so! It's rare to find anyone in the building business today that won't try to push you up the cost ladder. Even during the actual work, I often discussed with him possible tweaks to the final look, and he was happy to go along with them without impacting his price to me. A five star operation!
