the 1st warm day of the year, and failed AC.. most providers wanted 2 weeks before coming to a new customer. Milltown was willing to get to after the weekend, but would try to 'fit me in today' . Best offer in town so I took it. To my surprise at 9:30 am they were at my door.. The service manager himself left his desk to come out and fix my problem. Excellent 1st class service.. I am giving them all my recurring business I couldn't be more happy with the quality, value, and responsiveness of Milltown!

Milltown was great to work with. We called numerous times (and emailed) to verify the parts we needed to order as we planned to buy them ourselves. Everyone was very responsive, respectful, and happy to help us find what we needed. They did an excellent job installing everything and we have had no problems since! Great to work with and I would use them again!
Description of Work: Milltown Plumbing repaired the shower in our bathroom which was leaking into the basement. They replaced needed parts as well and re-caulked other areas that seemed to also be leaking.

Horrible. What I was hoping to be a couple of days of work turned into 5 full days at my home. There were a couple of surprises, like when my contractor removed the acrylic shower stall we discovered that the pipes and part of the drain line running into the shower from the adjoining bathroom were sticking out from the wall and needed to be relocated inside the wall so we could sheet rock and tile it.. The same for the water lines running to the whirlpool tub. I understood that this was more work than expected and I had no problem paying for it. My issues were the following: 1) These guys have perfected the ability to work VERY slowly, so even installing a couple of shut-off valves takes hours to do. Each day at my house they took a full eight hours and only completed one area at a time. 2) They arrive in vans which I would assume have plumbing supplies, yet they find the need to make several trips to the store in the course of each day, which is all on the clock. 3) On one trip the plumber brought a young man from the local technical high school with him. He mostly stood around watching the plumber work and running down to the truck for a wrench or a hammer. When they were done for this day the plumber handed me a bill that included a charge of $50.00 an hour for the students time!! 4) When they roughed in the free standing faucet and the drain for the soaking tub they miscalculated the location of the drain. When they put the tub in it was far enough away from the faucet so when you turn on the faucet the water hits the inside of the tub wall, splashing water all over the floor. The only fix is to rip up the new tile floor and relocate the drain. This happened even though the tub was on site and could have been used as a template for the location of the faucet and drain, but they decided to guess instead. 5) When working on the shower stall I understood the need to relocate the water lines and drain coming from the bathroom right next door so they could be relocated inside the walls, BUT they cut the water lines running up and inside the walls feeding the shower mixing valve all the way to the floor, even though they were perfectly fine and in the proper location. This cost me a brand new shower mixing valve and copper lines that didn't need to be replaced. 6) The bill for the last trip included a charge of $40.00 for rags!! I seriously considered replacing them with another plumber about half way through the job but my contractor advised me against it for the simple reason that if anything was wrong with any part of the plumbing work you don't want 2 different plumbers pointing the finger at each other for whose fault it might be. So I felt stuck.
Description of Work: Bathroom remodel. Reset pipes for the shower stall, reconfigured water and drain lines to go from a single vanity to a double, moved water and drain lines from a whirlpool tub to a soaking tub and free standing faucet in the same general area..

Response from Milltown Plumbing, Heating, AC, Drain Cleaning & Electrical
We were quite surprised to see this review as when the customer expressed concern we did provide warranty work and labor credit, as customer service and quality workmanship is paramount at our company. It's very important to us to handle situations should there be an issue with one of our customers, as sometimes there are bumps in the road with projects. We regret that you had a poor experience using our company. We invite you to reach out to us so that we can try to make this right.

We discovered the frozen pipes Sunday night and were able to get the water flowing ourselves, however, we had one pipe that had a leak in it. I called early Monday morning (7:00 AM). They told me they would try to get to me on MOnday, but they already had a heavy schedule since the weekend had seen subzero temps. Around 3:00 they called to say that they wouldn't be able to make it. I asked if they could come early Tuesday morning and the technician was here by 730. He was very professional and got the job done. It didn't really bother me that they weren't able to make it Monday since I am sure there were lots of people much worse off than we were and I had told them we had water, just a leaky pipe.

We had a breach in the cast iron pipe that was partially embedded in a fieldstone wall in the basement. There was a blockage somewhere in the pipe and waste water had leaked from the cast iron stack into our finished basement. Brian Kearney from Milltown Plumbing responded to our call immediately. Brian was able to determine the issue and provide us with an action plan and an estimate, while 2 other companies came by and said they would get back to me with estimates. We had to stay at a hotel up the street because of this issue, so we did not have a lot of time to waste. Brian sent his team in and they started right away, keeping me apprised of issues as they worked. They were professional and knowledgable. They got the job done quickly at good price. They turned our disaster into something manageable. We cannot say enough about them. I wouldn't hire anyone else.

Went great they set up and appointment and time. The sub contractor they sent to me was great Joe Martell. The have a keeper in him alone. He asked questions and explained what was going to happen, for both the worst case and best case. I lucked out. tree root had wormed there way into my main sewer drain. Mr Martell was able to clear them out, cleaned up his mess checked that all was going through the drain, closed everything up and was on his way. I would say he was here less than 2 hours and had solved the issue I had. Thanks Milltown Plumbing. And Joe Martell as well.

Mark was right about the problem being the septic line. The septic company came out and fixed the problem in a matter of minutes. It was a clogged baffle. The B rating for quality I gave him was due to Mark not coming back to tighten up the cap at the end of the repair process. I called him after the septic company left and told him I was concerned about the cap that was loosened, but no longer leaking. He said it was okay to stay that way. I think it's okay now, but am wondering if the cap will leak again, if the baffle ever gets stuck again I just have to say I was thrilled with this company for the most part. It was a holiday, and I called in the afternoon after trying to plunge it and snake it myself. They were professional and reasonable. They also didn't charge me for "after hours" work like two other plumbing companies wanted to do. Those charges ranged from $150.00 to 200.00, which didn't include any parts or labor.
Description of Work: Mark took an augur and snaked out my toilet but it was still clogged. He went in my cellar and assessed the situation. He loosened up a cap on a big pipe that led outside. It started leaking a bit. He said the problem was most likely a septic line that was blocked and suggested I call a septic company.

I have used milltown plumbing a few times now to do various things including replace frost/freeze free faucets a couple of times at a couple of different locations. I came to them primarily via Archembault plumbing (they merged/acquired) and have found them to be professional, punctual and up to snuff on their work. I did find them to be slightly (~ 15%) more expensive than comparable services in the area. In my case however, I chose to stick with them because of the history and time constraints on my end. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend/refer them to friends/family for their plumbing needs.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful Milltown was to work with. At 2 AM on a Sunday morning, I discovered that the entire footprint of our 1,400 sqft basement was filled with 2.5 feet of water as a result of (we later found out) a broken water main in the street next to our home in Lowell Belvidere. Folks, that's a lot of water. We called Milltown and within a short time they were on site helping us figure out what to do. The boiler was completely destroyed, so they ordered and installed a new one, including properly venting everything (which had been kind of a mess anyway in our 115 year old home). They also ordered a part for the hot water heater and were able to repair that instead of having to replace it. The new boiler was onsite within a day and installed the following day. Because it was the middle of the winter and there was roughly 9 feet of snow on the ground, this was no easy task (think: digging out the bulkhead). They shut the water off and took care of all of the things that needed to be done for that so that we didn't have frozen/burst pipes anywhere (blowing everything out, prepping with antifreeze, etc.). The crew was friendly, respectful, creative and inventive with how to solve the problem of getting all of the water pumped out of the basement (which kept coming in until the city finally admitted there was a break in the street - massive backhoe and drilling ensued). Last but not least, Milltown was incredibly understanding about the immediate financial burden a disaster like this can put on a family. Extremely nice people, prompt, responsive, professional, flexible and made the whole experience less of a nightmare. Thank you, Milltown. From now on, you are our plumbing and heating contractor! :)
Description of Work: Emergency response to 2.5 feet of water throughout our entire basement and the cleanup/repairs/new equipment needed. Cost noted is approx. for labor and excludes the cost of the new boiler/repair parts.

Cody from Milltown arrived as scheduled. He was professional, straightforward, informative without overstating, honest about the time and cost estimates. With some help from Ari, he completed the job on time, cleaned up the residue and left me his direct number for questions and concerns. We did have a minor misunderstanding about the Angie's List purchase price-but it was resolved as soon as I spoke with Fred-the owner. This is probably the best "Big Deal" of any "Deal" that I've purchased from A.L.. But, I will post again in 30 days if there are changes in the situation. So far-I would recommend them very highly.

They're great. We've used them a lot. It took a couple visits 'cause it was a hairy problem but they only charged for the one they fixed. They were very reasonable. They're very responsive. They always listen to what your concerns are. I got to know them so they're trustworthy. If the job wasn't done the first time just 'cause it's a really tricky problem, they understand that like I wasn't satisfied the first time around and then they came back and they looked deeply into the problem.
