I have never, over many decades of needing to hire professional help, had such a positive experience. Milltown squeezed me in at a time when they were exceptionally busy, in spite of the fact that I was not a previous customer. Over the course of our 5 day interaction (it was a holiday weekend), they consistently communicated with me to check on the status of my problem and to let me know what they could do to help. The professional technicians who came to resolve the problem were pleasant, courteous, knowledgeable, and informative. They are great!
Description of Work: On July 5, responded to my HVAC emergency. In spite of a very heavily booked schedule, sent a technician the next day for a quick fix and 2 more on 7/8 to solve the problem. They cleared the drain on the HVAC unit which stopped the leak.

The plumbers came within an hour or so of my call (it was not an emergency). They did a great job, but it was a bit more expensive than I had expected. On the other hand, I hadn't shopped around, so for all I know that's just what it costs.

Milltown Plumbing & Heating Inc didn't have the parts so my stackable washer and dryer were in the hall because behind them is where they needed to get to the plumbing. One of the plumbers called to say he was going to be there but after waiting he didn't show up. When I called the office the people there didn't even know he would be coming. He ended up being sick and didn't call them. It was so convoluted. I had a $25 coupon so they took that off the service call but I was so annoyed by the fact that they said they had to do research on fixing the shower and put in a charge for doing research. I ended up having to hire someone else to fix the shower. The first plumber her came out was very nice as well as the staff that answered the phones. Maybe this situation was just a fluke but I would never recommend Milltown Plumbing & Heating Inc.

Response from Milltown Plumbing, Heating, AC, Drain Cleaning & Electrical
There are hundreds of shower valves and thousands of parts, no one has them all. The product was made in Canada, several local suppliers were called, they did carry the parts in question and most have never heard of the brand of the valve. The valve in question was not a common brand. We spent time on line researching the parts list and manual. We charged for a service call for the home visit which is normally $130.00. We charged only $85.00 for the service call. We did research, made calls to suppliers but nothing was charged for this, this research took another hour. Our Tech that was scheduled to go back was out sick and the dispatcher was inadvertently not informed. We apologized to the customer, unfortunately this can happen once in a while. We have worked out a solution to remedy this type of situation from happening again.

I guess they did a good job, I haven't heard any problems from the tenants but I didn't really see it in person because I don't live in Massachusetts anymore. They responded to my call even though I was out of state. There were some places I called and they wouldn't even return my call so these guys were good. They had very good phone manners, they were very polite, they were efficient in calling back, they seemed competent, and they responded in a timely manner.

The ejector pump in m basement started leaking on Christmas Eve. I called the team at Milltown team on the morning of the 26th. They respond quickly and had a team at my house with hour. One the phone they had estimate they would need to replace the pump for around $700. However, when they got to my house, the found it was just a clog. As true professional, they did not try to replace the pumps which turned out to double cost. They were able to repair the pump. I would definitely use Milltown again

The job was done well and quick. We have been very happy with the service call.
Description of Work: The master bathroom sink drain broke and water had leaked down to the first floor before we new it was broken. I called the service up and they were able to send someone out immediately as we did not know if the water was leaking from the drain at the time and was worried it was a water pipe that broke. The plumber arrived and found the issue and how it was broken and let me know how it could get that way and what to watch for in the future. He was quick in fixing the issue and we have not had a problem since.

Milltown sent their rep to the job site the next day and provided an estimate for the entire remodel project. Disconnect plumbing estimate was $1,040 for a cast iron tub, one toilet and double vanity sinks. The actual amount paid to another supplier was $300 who also removed the toilet flange and tub valve, moved a water supply line and disposed of all fixtures and vanity. It took 2 hours and 2 men to complete the job.

I had a few plumbers come to estimate the price, including Milltown. They seemed very professional so I took them under consideration. They offered to look for the replacement part on my shower handle but could not find it. The price was high, but unlike the other plumbers I contacted, they actually followed up and came to do the work. It seemed like a plumber and apprentice who did the work. From start to finish it took them about 3 hours. They had scheduled the work for 7:00am and arrived closer to 7:30, but they called a little after 7:00 and let me know when to expect them.
Description of Work: They replaced a shower handle (need to cut and replace the entire thing). They reconfigured a sink drain which was not proper pitch. They also replaced a leaking T-pipe which I was sick of patching. Finally, they reconfigured a washing machine drain which was squirting water. All appear to be of fine craftsmanship and are still working perfectly a month later.

We have a house that has Orangeburg sewer pipes, which are made from paper. We also have two 50 year old maple trees in our front yard whose roots grow into these pipes. We have not replaced the pipes because this would probably cause us to lose the trees, which shade the house and provide privacy. Periodically we have to have the pipes cleared of the tree roots. We saw a coupon on Angie's List for the service at Milltown Plumbing and decided to purchase it, as it was definitely a bargain. We called and were able to make a quick appointment, which was great as we were leaving for vacation the following week. I have to say that the service was great and uneventful. As we have had this done a few times in the past, the service being uneventful was a really good thing. The last time we had it done, the person doing it didn't have the right size cover to put back on the sewer pipe and had to leave to get one. There is no using any plumbing in a house with no cover on the sewer pipe, not to mention the fumes that escape. Cody, from Milltown Plumbing, showed up on time, performed the work and the greatest part was he did not make a mess. He also saw a problem with the drain of our laundry area sink and fixed that as well. Dealing with Milltown Plumbing was a pleasant experience from start to end.

The plumber from Milltown showed up and got right to work diagnosing the problem -- the toilet was leaking into the basement below whenever flushed. Turns out whomever tiled the bathroom lifted the toilet a bit, leaving a gap in the seal. He pulled the toilet and installed a new flange riser set, rings, and new supply line for good measure (only an extra 10 bucks). He then tested it numerous times to make sure the leak was taken care of. It's been two months since, and no more problems. I wish I had gotten this guy's name, because he is the same guy who worked tirelessly to clear out my sewer line last summer on one of the hottest and muggiest days of the year. He's terrific.

I had a leak in the bath tub and thought it might be the pipes. A very thorough job was done to check all the pipes and no leaks were found. However, it was discovered that the grout like against the tub was porous and causing the problem. It was such a relief to know that it wasn't the pipes. They were courteous and professional and were there the next day. I would have them back again.

I called Milltown to replace the rusting and failing washing machine hot/cold water leads and stop valve, and install stainless steel feed hoses to the washer. The individual I spoke with was very helpful when I was trying to explain the problem. He asked very specific questions pertaining to the make/model of the valve, condition of the valve and symptoms I'd seen and we also discussed the overall work I wanted done. They arrived promptly (actually early) to perform the work on the specified date and time. The plumber replaced the lines and the stop valve as agreed. We had a leak that occurred, (that turned out to be a manufacturer defect), but there was some water in the area. I called Milltown not sure what to expect, but they could not have been more professional and helpful. They agreed to come over and review the water damage immediately. Upon arriving they already had an industrial air mover with them, set it up and got it drying. We setup a plan (we had some wet sheet rock) and they addressed the problems successfully and quite handsomely I might add. They were attentive, prompt and professional. When the problem occurred, they quelled my anxiety, as you never know what is going to happen when issues arise from the initial work. I couldn't have been more happy with the way they handled it and resolved the problem. Sometimes you learn more about a company when things don't go according to plan and I will be using Milltown in the future for all my plumbing jobs.

Description of Work: I had called two companies over the phone prior to Milltown. They wanted a quick fix by diagnosing over the phone. Recommended a new water heater. Although , my current one was only four years old. I purchased a new hot water heater but my problem remained unchanged. I called Milltown very late in the day close to closing time. He took all the information down . Followed up first thing in the morning and came out within the hour. The problem was fixed in less than 45 minutes. He was efficient, punctual and knowledgable. Experience was great ~ I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Milltown Plumbing!
Description of Work: Spoke with Fred Webster from Milltown Plumbing and an appointment was made to fix the plumbing issue in the bathroom. Bernie from Milltown Plumbing showed up well within the scheduled time window. He was extremely pleasant, professional and great to deal with. After doing some diagonistic work, he determined that the plumber who had initially repaired the plumbing and install the tub on 09/28/11 hadn't done their job. There were 3 repairs that were necessary and these 3 leaks were the reason why the plumbing was leaking. When repairs were completed, Bernie tested the plumbing and determined that there were no more leaks. If you ever need a plumber, call Milltown Plumbing at 978.453 first! They are top notch, quick to respond, reasonably priced but most importantly are very thorough and do great work. I can't say enough good things about them. And once you use them, you will to! Footnote: previous plumber [Mark Adams] refused to address the plumbing issue, accept responsibility for anything and wasn't willing to fix the plumbing problems. This is why it became absolutely necessary to call another plumbing firm.

We had an issue installing 2nd floor toilet, the flange had cracked, so we called a "professional". With our first call the responder was rude and abrasive, but did call back and apologize & gave an explanation for his behavior, so we thought we would give them a chance with so many glowing recommendations we thought they would be reliable. The repairman was kind enough to swap out parts we had purchased for the correct ones, but when the repair was done we were told not to use the toilet until the silicone had dried. #1 Silicone! Just looking at this toilet it it screams there is a problem. #2 When you lean to one side the toilet rocks (lefty or righty) it will go both ways accompanied by the sound of water swishing and there is a noise of water running into the tank #3 When Milltown was asked to come and repair the job correctly. We were told they would be out on Saturday morning (no show) a call was placed to the answering service and a prerecorded voice mail was sent to us explaining that we would be called on Monday morning that the worker on that day couldn't get to us (we were not anemergent call) #4 When we were finally able to get back to Milltown, the same rude abrasive person started arguing with us about who's fault the lousy repair was. He claimed his employee told him we had broken & lifting tiles under the toilet and a proper repair was not possible and that they did the job they were asked to do. He was told we have neither broken or lifting tiles, if that were the case we would have had a tile company out first and why would we want a new toilet installed over something that was broken? When asked why continue if there was a problem the response was they did the job they were called for. When he asked what we wanted him to do, he was asked to come out and undo the mess that was made so we could repair the toilet properly and he responded "I don't think so". He was told again that the repair was an unacceptable mess and that they needed to make it right. Needless to say they didn't and we will be contacting another plumber. #5 We have since had their work removed and redone correctly and are very pleased with the "other" company we delt with who will be our heating contractor as well. I asked them if they could find any lifting or cracked tiles under the toilet and they couldn't find any, and secured the flange to the subflooring as well. #6 We CANNOT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE RECOMMEND this company.

I do not recall ever being rude. The other plumber could not find any loose tiles because we repaired them. We offered to go back, a check the problem with the flange. It was stated there would be no charge if the problem was what we worked on. If the flange was broken or an old existing screw let go then there would be charges. She declined the offer. We cannot guarantee an old existing materials, if it broke or was broken when we were there then she would have had to pay for it. The floor flange that holds the toilet in place was fine when we left. All we did was cement the loose tile and reset the toilet with a new seal.

I had raw sewage backing up into my basement. At the time, I thought that the only problem might be two plugs that were not fastened on the trap and outlet of the sewer pipe, but I wasn't sure. I called Milltown Plumbing at 7:15am on a Monday morning and talked to a very nice woman who said she'd pass along the info to Fred. Fred called back in about an hour and a half, asked me a bunch of questions to determine what equipment the folks who came might need, and said someone would show up by 2pm. Indeed, someone showed up by 2pm and started right in on the problem. He was courteous and efficient and extremely hard-working, despite the fact that it was very hot and humid. He worked like a madman for almost three hours. Turns out I had a bunch of problems, the main one being roots in my sewer line. He cleared as much of the roots as he could and pulled out all manner of other crap that was getting clogged on the roots. Once all was clear, he sent a camera down and showed me where the roots had breached the pipe and talked about my future options. He suggested regular sewer cleaning to keep the problem from recurring, but also said that I could be facing the need to replace the pipe at some point in the future. He gave me an idea of what that might entail work-wise (digging up the front yard) and price-wise ($5000-7000). In addition, he called me back the next day to see if I had any more questions.

I purchased a new dishwasher and installed it myself. Well, not completely. I ran into some difficulties with the hot water supply line. I called Milltown on a Sunday hoping to get on the list for Monday. Amazingly I got a call on Sunday evening. They came on Monday and not only installed the hot water connection, but also replaced an old leaky hot water shut off. This was in an almost impossible position to access, but he did it in a few minutes. Since he was there I asked him if he could repair a troublesome flush mechanism on one of my toilets. I had other plumbers work on this with limited results. He diagnosed the problem quickly and I'm happy to say it continues to work very well.
