We're so glad that we went with Hancock for the job! It's been wonderful to be able to stretch out into the new space. Bedtime for the kids has been going so much better now that they have their own rooms and we love how the rest of the spaces turned out. We've very much appreciated the consideration that Darrell, Kevin, and the team have had with helping to accommodate the family living in half of the house while the project was going on. That was really the only way that we could have afforded the project. I'm definitely still amazed that it was able to be done in the short span of time. Even our dog is in love with her expanded domain. The work with Hancock Building Associates went very well. They showed up on time and navigated the Covid situation and bad weather to maintain a crew on site. The remodel design of the porch went very well. Aspects of the remodel that we had not thought of were included in the design by the VP of the firm. Either the VP or his foreman inspected the work weekly and made suggestions as the work proceeded. We did amend the contract to include new decking and this went very well and did not cause a pause in the construction. A very good experience all around. I would highly recommend Hancock Building Associates.

They made an appointment to give an estimate early on a Saturday morning. I held off on starting with someone else and got up early for the appointment. He never showed up or contacted me in any way and ignored my email asking what happened. Very unprofessional.

Hancock Building Associates provided what we felt was fair pricing and provided work that has more than met our expectations. Darrell worked with us from the first estimate to determine the best use of the space and Hancock saw it through to the end. We recommend Hancock Building Associates.

The job went well, Kevin was overseeing the crews and kept us updated throughout. We had them gut our 1960’s bathroom and bring it into 2021. Everything was replaced and the job came out great. We had a small hit list which they took care of quickly. Would definitely recommend them!

Our experience with Hancock Building Associates was exceptional! We have a split level home and we added on: an additional garage bay, a master suite (bedroom, bathroom, closet) on one side of the home as well as a 20X 20 great room on the other side of the home. In addition, we added a 36' and 22' deck on the back of the home. The entire process was very smooth as the initial meeting with Hancock gave us a great vibe. The quote we got was very detailed and covered all aspects of the project. The detailed quote in conjunction with the very open and candid discussion of the project led us to selecting them. In addition, we had heard great things from others in the town that had used them. The project started AND finished on time and within the budget. The workmanship provided by both the direct Hancock employees and subcontractors was excellent and very focused on the finish details. Their communication at every step was perfect. We were communicated with almost daily to provide updates and next steps of the process. Any communication we sent was responded to very quickly and we were able to meet in person with them anytime that we needed to do so. The end results of the project are breathtaking and we have had multiple people stop at the house commenting on how great it looks. We have recommended Hancock to many others and we would not hesitate to use them again for any upcoming project. Our experience working with the owner (Darrell) and Foreman (Kevin) was outstanding and very professional and I really appreciated their availability and responses. We are completely thrilled with the outcome and will continue to recommend them to anyone in search of contracting projects.

Quick response on estimation and started work on time. During covid, managed to get everything done within time. When we found some unknown rots, they fixed it fast and did not quote exorbitantly. Great workmanship and basement looks better than the rest of the house now. Would definitely hire them again soon.

I should start from the statement that I don't usually write reviews and that I do have very high expectations on any job that is being done. I expect the work done the right way the first time. Hancock Building Associates exceeded all of my possible expectations. This is a team that you can rely on with your home improvement project. They don't try to do minimum like others do. Darrell came over, listened to my ideas of what I had mind about the expansion and re-design and came back with options and a much better plan. Additionally, they were flexible and adjusted to a few new requirements that came during the project. Reasonable prices. Professional execution. Clear communications. Highly recommending this company. Definitely one of the best in the area.

Darrell came out to give an estimate to fully gut and remodel the only bathroom in our aging home. While there, he also ended up addressing water problems we were having in our basement, and followed up with helpful suggestions and pricing. He is extremely knowledgeable in many areas, and we appreciate the time and expertise he lent us. In the end we weren't able to hire him due to cost, which I imagine is on the higher end for good reason -- quality, responsiveness, and conveniences such as shorter project turnaround. We were disappointed not to move forward with Hancock, and would certainly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable contractor.

Hancock Building Associates are everything a good contractor should be, and i whole-heatedly recommend them as contractors, as professionals, and as people. I first met Darrell, the President of HBA in 2014, when he came to bid on a job to add a farmers porch to our house, add and replace windows, and re-side the whole house. He came late in the day on a Saturday, to fit our schedule, and from Day 1 he was incredibly friendly and professional, making suggestions as we walked through the job. From that first conversation it was obvious that he wasnt just a first rate and experienced craftsman, but he also genuinely cared about how the job was going to work out, and also how he would complete it with minimal disruption to us (we had an 18 month old at the time). We followed all of his suggestions, including his own design, and the end product is outstanding, and was delivered on time and on budget, with minimal disruption. Five years later, we still have passers by comment on the front the house, especially those who remember how it used to look. Since then, we have hired Darrell and his team on over ten occasions over the last 5 years as we gradually remodeled and extended our single family home in Concord MA. Beyond the farmers porch, work includes; adding a laundry room, adding two new bathrooms and remodeling another one, adding/replacing ~30 windows, finishing an 800 sqft basement, replacing two fireplaces and fixing two chimneys, updating electric wiring throughout, remodeling the kitchen and dining room, adding a mudroom, changing the heat from oil to gas, rebuilding a 600 sqft family room, and landscaping the front and back yards, including wall and patio work. Across jobs, Darrell and his team have been excellent and a pleasure to work with. We have got to know them all - they are like a family, who have worked together for many years, and it shows with how good they work together, and it is such a difference to have all the trades under one logo. They are the friendliest and most professional contractors you can work with, who deliver the highest quality work, and are always looking for ways they can over deliver on your expectations. To name a few; Kevin and Tom have always been great site managers and always available when needed (even outside of jobs, Tom will drive over to the house to look at anything at 10 mins notice), Mike and Tyler are the best and fastest framers, Kenny (electrics) and Kevin (plumbing) have updated the utilities for the entire house, and Andy is the finest finish carpenter we could have hoped for, and his design fingerprints are all over our whole house. Its all led by Darrell though, and his team treat customers and clients as he treats them. Over the years, he has become a part of our family, and our kids love seeing him, and he always has time for them. High class work, delivered in as respectful and non-intrusive manner as possible; and always on time and on budget. We cannot recommend Hancock enough, and are happy to respond to questions about their work as helpful.

The result was spectacular. The quality and workmanship was superb. Darrell and his team are true craftsman and don't settle for mediocre in order to get done. The scheduling did not go as planned because there were issues with the custom granite platform so it was completed later than scheduled but that was the only issue. Overall I would recommend Hancock to anyone who is looking for quality craftsmanship.

It went great! Good people to work with. They are very professional, work efficiently and neat! They offered variety of options and ideas I never thought of! They do quality work! I love the result! I highly recommend this company and I plan on using them again for more projects!!!

It went excellent. From the first phone call which they answered to the end they were wonderful. Everything they said, they did. The owner said he treats every job as his own, which was reflected in the work. The employees were great, they were given the door code for entry if we were not home, with no concern.

HBA was great to work with — very knowledgeable and skilled team from top to bottom. Changes were fairly priced (when the the changes even resulted in charges, which certainly wasn’t always), and the finish product was exactly whaat we were looking for.

Very nice job! We built a new addition to our house and worked with Hancock throughout. The addition has a great room, bathroom and basement playroom. The great room has a high ceiling and custom windows with hardwood floors. The bathroom has a granite edged deep bathtub/shower with glass surround. The project went longer than expected but we made several changes to the plans along the way. Darrell was always an excellent contact and was good to his word. He had very good suggestions and found the right parts and subcontractors for the job. Quality work at a fair price. We are going to hire them to fix up other parts of the existing house.

We had Hancock Building Associates redo our bathrooms many years ago. Recently we experienced an issue with some of the grout around the tub. We contacted Hancock and explained the issue and they said they would send someone to take a look. Please keep in mind that this issue was related to normal wear and tear, not a defect in workmanship. Scott, Hancock's tiling expert contacted us and arranged to come take a look. He came out right on time and could not have been nicer. He took a look at what needed to be done, repaired the area in question and even took the time to look at our master bath shower to make sure everything was in working order. This was all done as a courtesy! This goes way beyond what is reasonable. Hancock could have charged for this call and we would have been happy to pay for the work. If you are looking for a contractor that exceeds expectations look no further, call Hancock Builders.

I hired Darrell and his crew to build a 20x30 post and beam barn. The project was especially complicated in the site location and required Darrell to come up with some unique solutions for the foundation, delivering the beams and material, and access for the sub-contractors. I was especially impressed with his attention to detail, coming up with some great additions to the plans to help keep the barn not only structurally sound, but aesthetically in keeping with the post-and-beam framing (hiding the wiring, use of rough-sawn 4x4's for framing, etc.). The entire Hancock crew was outstanding, very polite, considerate, and true craftsmen. Darrell's expertise was evident with sub-contractor management, town ordinances, permitting, and all of those details that make or break a project, he kept things moving throughout and we had no significant issues throughout the entire job. He was responsive to all my questions and requests, and would return calls or emails without constant badgering. His price was extremely fair, maybe not the cheapest, but you absolutely get what you pay for, I would (and will) hire them again for any carpentry/construction needs we have.

My wife and I love Hancock Builders. We started off with a major addition a few years ago but have also used them for small stuff that pops up. Darrell stands behind his work and sends his guys out to fix anything, no questions asked. We would highly recommend Hancock for any of your home improvement needs.

We are very happy with how our job in Chelmsford turned out. This project required coordination of several crafts: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, flooring, wall repair, painting, etc. Darrell McCrensky coordinated the work so that each craft was there at the right time. Each of the crafts people were professional and courteous. We were happy that we could speak with each of the crafts and that they would take into account our input. The hardwood floors in the family room came out great as did the tiling in the bathrooms and entryway. The bathrooms look great as well. We did not use a designer as we pretty much knew what we wanted to do. But, there were some things that we weren’t sure of. One was the transition from the tile in the entryway to the hardwood in the family room. We had some ideas which we discussed with Darrell and he helped come up with a great design. Also, it turned out that one of our existing bathrooms was not properly vented. This was discovered mid-job and the guys came up with a solution to correct that without added cost. Pricing-wise, Hancock was competitive and we went with them because of their reputation for quality work. Also, they were easy to work with. We were given allowances for most of the purchased items, bathroom fixtures, tile, hardwood, etc. and they turned out to be pretty close and if there was a question we could discuss it and reach an agreement. Near the end of the job we conducted a walk-through and anything that we were not fully happy with was identified and taken care of. One other thing, these were our only two bathrooms, so the work was coordinated to allow us to stay in the house with at least one working facility. The work extended through the holidays, so it was nice that the guys were good about cleaning up after themselves. Overall, we would highly recommend Hancock Builders and would use them again.

Everything went very smoothly. It took 5 weeks from start to finish for a complete kitchen and dining room renovation. Each morning they showed up on time and were very friendly and professional. Each day before they left they cleaned up after themselves including vacuuming and making sure any equipment they had to leave on site was out of the way. The finish carpenter even swept up sawdust that was in the driveway after cutting trim. They were very mindful of keeping our indoor pets contained. In addition to being courteous and professional, they were always available to offer advice (when asked) about finishes and what would work best for our lifestyle. Emails were always answered promptly. We got several quotes before starting this job and feel that this was the best value for the scope of the project. We are so happy with our new kitchen! I highly recommend Hancock Builders and when it comes time for our next big project we will definitely be using Hancock Builders.
