Description of Work: Rebuilt my fireplace chimney from the roofline up, adding additional clay flue pipe to extend the flue to the full height of the chimney. It's hard to evaluate a chimney immediately, since the key virtue one seeks is durability, but I can say that it looks plumb, which is more than many of my neighbors can say. | |Initially, I was quoted $800 or so (I can't quite recall) to repoint the chimney, but when the workmen actually got up the roof to do the work, they found the chimney too far gone to repoint. (They literally pulled it apart by hand -- no tools required -- so there's no question that rebuilding was needed.) A full rebuild, however, requires more time (and a different guy) than a repointing job, so although the chimney could come down on the day when it was to have been pointed, I had to wait most of a week to have the job finished. They initial crew did a good up of covering up their work, but in the intervening time I did have a chimney's worth of bricks stacked up on my roof, which was a little disconcerting. (Fortunately, no windstorms or battling wildlife dislodged anything.) I understand that delays happen, particularly where outdoor works is involved, but I would've appreciated being kept more fully abreast of scheduling developments. Until a call the night before, I was uncertain when they'd be back. Once they did get back to me, though, the job went swimmingly.

Description of Work: NOTHING- I purchased the big deal on 3/15/14 - communicated several time thru your email in box was asked for pictures - then Marc got the flu and missed several weeks then this Saturday on the 24th he informed me that he could not do the job since he broke an arm and leg - to contact Angies list for refund- i conversed several time via phone also - last conversation was last monday we were supposed to meet last Friday 5/23 to dicuss the job angie is not available till 5/27 memorial holiday - this is summer and most Masons have all their project l missed out on another big deal for Masonry last week because I was waiting for MFJ respnonse - not only did i miss out on another big deal for masonry but i am now without any Mason available to do my stairs for the remaining year UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

Description of Work: Skim coat a set of cement stairs that was badly deteriorated. It went well once he arrived but he seemed to regret posting a 99.00 deal because he was actually losing money on most of the jobs. He worked for about 2 hours and informed me it was a temporary fix and would only last about a year or two. He was very polite and gave me estimates on some larger jobs I planned on tackling in the future. He did not charge me for materials but he only used one bag of cement for the job, and I feel it was a trade off because he only worked about 2-3 hrs tops.
