.I had a friend who is a trained climber take down a large oak tree on my property the week of March 20th. After moving all the wood and making brush piles for me, it was up to me bring all the brush to the compost station in Webster. On the 29th I saw Hi top taking down trees a couple doors down so at lunch time I asked the owner what he would charge me to chip the brush piles. He gave me a fair price so I told him he could back into the yard to gain access to the piles. The ground was still frozen at the time. Friday afternoon when I returned from some errands I see the chipper in the yard but no truck. Al the owner called me later that evening and said he could not come back till Tuesday the 1st of April because it was going to rain. I thought we might have a problem with the rain and warmer temps so I watched the weather all weekend. Tuesday comes and I'm still watching the thermometer praying he doesn't back his truck in. Well, when I heard the truck it was too late. He was in the yard with no plywood under the wheels. He chipped the brush and then proceeded to tear my yard up and get stuck. I had to pull him out with my truck! He told me the ruts would come up it should be no problem, problem is it wasn't just ruts. The grass had been torn up and turned into mud along with the ruts. He offered to fix it but I was not overly confident he would do it right. After all he should have checked the ground before he backed in. he did not offer any return of the payment I had given him, so I told him he could leave. It cost me more in time, loam, seed, and fertilizer than it was worth. I should have taken the brush myself.
